Oh, and I read Yours Truly and Fell Into the Right Hooves last night - and the former showed an absolutely heart-wrenching spectrum of emotions, making me laugh, (Pirate Pinkie Pie, arr) very nearly cry, (especially the penultimate and final letters) and literally leaving my mouth agape in astonishment at some parts. It really does wow me that such incredibly high levels of talent are present in this fandom; most authors of that quality would either charge for their work or steer well clear of fanfiction, and I feel honoured to have been able to read such a wonderful fic - and it's astonishing what you can do in a single-part story when you add such a brilliantly original concept to its structure.

Fell Into the Right Hooves was also exceptionally well-written and romantic, and while I've heard that Rainbow Dash losing the ability to fly as a base for shipping isn't exactly the most original base for a shipfic, I must say that it would be nigh-on impossible for me to dislike FItRH as a result of that - and I honestly didn't at all expect that a FlutterDash ship would work at all until I came across this particular fic. It was a pleasant surprise, all-told; I didn't expect much of it, but I came out of it feeling genuinely happy - and I'm glad that it didn't end on the classically cliché kiss-to-finish.

Well, the epilogue did, but the epilogue was there more for comedic value than anything else.

I only knew who the author of that story was because he did a dramatic reading of "Cupcakes" last May (the song, not the fanfic), plus I wasn't aware that he had actually written anything, let alone something as brilliant as Yours Truly. Apparently he's been working on and off on that fic for the past year, adding extra parts as the new episodes aired. It really is a rollercoaster of emotions.

I still haven't figured out where to place it in my top 10 yet either.

Pretty sure as long as they don't interact with themselves they should be fine. Probably why they're hiding so far away.


I love the detail in that, and that heart over top of Canterlot is a nice touch.
