Add on rim seems like a great idea, but clearance with the fixed paddles on the present base might be kinda small. Still, looking forward to this.

I hope TM'll make a mod-kit, so this can be used on the older wheels.

They might show a frontal picture of this, tomorrow :dopey:! (I hope.)

You have to believe just by the quote on the page that it will have clearance, and it looks like the same mounting system. Some of us just have big hands, although the F1 rim and paddles never gave me any problems.

Looks like the 458 Challenge wheel:

I have large hands and have never had any problems with clearance on the F1 Rim's paddles either.

I don't mind the fixed paddles personally as I don't often use them and am used to them, I use the gated shifter or sequential. Though I do at times use the paddles if it fits the car I am in, like a newer Ferrari. What this offers is an option to people that would like them to move with the rim.

I also don't personally find the rim "horrible" that's a bit harsh I think. I've used a lot of different wheels and short of a real Momo rim, it's pretty decent.

That said, they do not show the paddles on the base in the photos which has to make you wonder, is there a new base along with it?

It took me a little while to get used to the fixed paddles on the GT rim, but once I got re-acclimated to them, they work fine. I also use the H-shifter as much as possible when the real car version of the sim has manual trans.

The fixed paddles actually have an advantage when unwinding from tight hairpins like Monaco's hotel hairpin...no need to chase the paddles on a rapidly rotating GT style wheel rim.

I don't find the GT rim "horrible" either, and I owned the entire range of Alcantara-clad F wheels, CSW included, before getting the T500. It was just a matter of getting used to the rim covered in a different texture.

E3 is around the corner so new hardware release makes sense. Wondering about the base as well. Either way its good to see that they seem to be putting effort into refining and/or evolving the product. Time will tell...

EDIT: Update, Darin G.over at ISR just replied on their corresponding thread with this teaser:
We have one here or two I should say Our review / first look will be out soon

Speaking of mods, is there 1 to use or coming out for V2 clubsport pedals with T500? Can't play GT-5 without swaping pedals on my DIY rig, which is quite a chore.

I don't think that this is another wheel rim, but rather a wheel rim "base" of sorts. Something nice and modular so that you can switch out your own wheel rims easily. Whats great about this is that you would retain button functionality and separate paddles. My reasoning being that the wheel rim in the picture looks to be attached to the plastic backing rather than being part of it.

Think DSD adaptor but with its own paddles and buttons.

No plans that I know of to come up with a Clubsport adapter for the T500RS -- Jon (from Basherboards) and I kicked that idea around, and then we kicked it to the curb because there are too many opportunities for Fanatec to change firmware versions or such that might make after-the-sale support problematic (e.g., it could work with this version, but NOT work with the next version that's released if Fanatec revised their interface board for example).

Derek Speare might be working on something, but IMO the risk is too great -- a production or firmware change to the pedals by Fanatec could potentially damage the rather expensive T500RS wheel unit, and I wouldn't want to be responsible for the liability involved in that instance.

FYI, while we're waiting to hear what Thrustmaster is going to announce, here's a little something for you folks who have the current GT wheel -- this will be of particular interest to PC racers who are tired of racing with the "GT" Gran Turismo logo on the center of your wheel, or for you PS3 users who want to something a little racier and realistic . . . presenting, the Bodin Solutions BWC-T500 Wheel Centers for the T500RS GT wheels:

The BWC-T500 Wheel Centers are made from glossy, automotive-grade badge materials -- they are roughly 3mm thick, and they feature easy-to-apply automotive exterior grade adhesive backing, for a simple place-and-stick installation on your existing T500RS GT wheel center.

I need a Toyota sombrero logo :P

You can also get gen-u-ine steering wheel badges right from the car companies in many cases, and in different diameters. BMW for instance has them at affordable prices.

Nice emblems. I put a Porsche emblem on my T-500. Think cost lese than $25. Will see if I can get a pic posted. None on my phone.

Ok. I had no idea it was so complex. Thanks for the detailed explantion.

Choose your logo and you can request if they don't have it. eg. I requested Lotus and they made it for me. Choose any size. Some examples:
T500 RS GT wheel: 45mm
G25/G27: 40mm
Momo wheels: 55mm
