Does anyone know where I can buy the Thrustmaster t500 rs wheel set for under $400? I'd be interested in used equipment if it's in good condition. I was planning on buying from Frys for $399 but they had been out of stock in my area (roseville, CA) for months. They finally received stock but then raised the price to $599. Any help anyone can offer would be much appreciated. Thanks

I would suggest you to buy it from new. Though, try sites like Amazon (and eBay), they usually have some great deals ;).

I've recently changed my pedals to the rally position. I had trouble mounting the metal plate, but I got it on. One thing I don't like, is the throttle control, - I honestly think the F1 position offers way better control and more space :P.

They still have a $399 listing on their own webpage, I would see if they will honor it. They will price match major internet retailers too.

I was also checking the Roseville store weekly, before I lucked into one at the Sacramento store, just in time I guess!

Tried it to, but went back quickly to F1 position.... ofcourse it is all about personal preferences.

Yes, I've tried multiple, actually. Right now, I'm using the highest point for the throttle. Same for the brake. All pedals, is with "less angle" (as described in the manual).

FYI, I just wanted to toss out a development update on the BLC-T500 Load Cell Mod:

I have encountered an availability issue regarding my current load cell amps from Leo Bodnar -- he's currently out of stock, so that will affect my ability to order parts for the next production run.

On the plus side, I think I've found a way to switch over to Derek Speare's load cell amps, which include an adjustment pot -- Derek's amps are a little more expensive than Leo's boards so means there will be a slight price increase if I go this route, but you would get additional functionality in the form of the adjustment pot to offset the cost.

I am currently working on prototyping my first pre-production model using Derek's load cell amp, and I plan to provide for remote mounting of the adjustment pot, as in on your wheel or in your cockpit, so you wouldn't have to reach down and fiddle with the pedals to adjust the pot.

:)

That's taking up a little development effort now, which is contributing to the production delays, but it should be worth the delay, I think (hope!).

If I make the switch to the new design, I anticipate that the new (V1.5?) units will start to become available in May, hopefully.

Right now it looks like this change may result in a $15 - $25 price increase over the current version. If Leo doesn't plan on producing any more of his load cell amps, then I'm going to be forced to go with Derek's load cell amp anyway, so being able to remotely mount the potentiometer next to your wheel or elsewhere in your cockpit will be a nice added bonus.

Did you look at Frys Eletronics? I just ordered the F1 add on from Amazon. Frys was instore only pick-up 3 hrs away. Decided to stay with TM over swithing to Fanatec F1. TM seems to have great moding options plus save some cash. Will of course wait till warranty expires.

Very easy to replace these microswitches. All the work can be done with a screwdriver. First unscrew the bolt steering wheel rim, remove the steering wheel rim. Then six small screws securing the bezel mechanism. Do not confuse the plugs left and right when you assembled everything back. No rush going to take you to maybe 15 minutes.

do not tighten too much of these six small screws from the bezel because it can cause problems with shifting

i think my accelerator pedal's potentiometer is messing around again. Spiking throttle response is making it hard to hold the gas in mod corners... sigh..

What do you prefer: Based fixed paddles or Wheel fixed paddles?
You might be able to switch really quickly from one to another, just by changing the wheel…

A new wheel, with fixed paddles ?!

I don't mind the fixed paddles personally as I don't often use them and am used to them, I use the gated shifter or sequential. Though I do at times use the paddles if it fits the car I am in, like a newer Ferrari. What this offers is an option to people that would like them to move with the rim.

I also don't personally find the rim "horrible" that's a bit harsh I think. I've used a lot of different wheels and short of a real Momo rim, it's pretty decent.

That said, they do not show the paddles on the base in the photos which has to make you wonder, is there a new base along with it?

I think it's awesome that they're adding another different option for the people who buy their wheels...that way the choice is put in the hands of the individual user. Thumbs-up to Thrustmaster!

The fixed paddles have been a huge dealbreaker for me, I might consider buying this wheel becuse of this change. One thing that is negative is you won´t have any paddles at all now if you change the wheel rim.
