EDIT 3: As has been discussed already, the picture below may be convincing enough to hint at the steering rim on the T500 RS being removable & replaceable by another rim.

Also notice the ring around the GT Logo; it seems to have 6 holes for screwing the wheel on/off the T500RS build, also the wheel is very slim indicating that the ForceFeedback motors are not in the rim but in the main base.
The website confirms this:

Realistic wheel
Authentic wheel:
30cm (12”) in diameter with brushed metal central spokes
Detachable (allows for future upgrades)

One important thing: the wheel is listed only in the PS3 section (not PC).

I want to know more about the adjustable brake and the so called real brake mod. I guess this means that it is not load cell, that's not a problem as long as the pressure is both adjustable and non linear so that it achieves the same thing a load cell brake achieves, that is brake response that is proportionate to the pressure applied and the ratio is consistent.

The brake and the clutch response/sensitivity is going to make or break this IMO because right now with everything else we know this is looking like the best wheel on the market.

This is getting real expensive, wheel & pedals $600 US + Shifter? and delivery. Not sure about this.

Agreed. I was holding out hope for a lower price point outside of Japan... The Fanatec GT2 with clubsport pedals is looking more and more appealing.

Ahh that's good about the paddle shifter not attached to the wheel. With my G25 i hate it once i have got a major tank slapper or spun out and when trying to change gear have no idea which is which and can end up changing up rather than down to get going again.
But it's a compromise as has been said for short lock racing cars it's good to have them on the wheel. I wonder if an innovation is waiting to happen in a switchable arrangement.

Hmm that problem with not knowing what position your shifter is in.
Is there a way of sticking something to the back of the paddle to give a feel of difference.
Maybe them old dyno tape things. If you were a child in the eighties they had them out. Almost like Braille.
Stick one on either your up or downshift and bingo. Lol.

Oh I don't know if I'm going for it - after the 1.05 patch, I started to REALLY love my G27, because of the combination of HUD-off option, chase view and the LED's for my shiftings. Changed my experience with GT a whole lot! 👍

I am not liking the price on this thing way too much for just a wheel. Don't know if they will sell a whole lot. $600 is double the price of a G27 and that's about 2 Ps3's 3 Xbox 360's. Way too much with the economy the way it is. I think they won't sell much in fact I hope they don't to drop the price.

It is a high end periphral (sp), it wont be cheap. Check out TSW, Frex, CST ect. and their price.

This isn't aimed at the average or frequent user, but one who is serious about gaming.

Has the clutch been improved? If so can you describe how the clutch now operates.

Another important question is the clamp system:

We don´t know if it has holes for screws, and this clamp system seems not compatible with any actual cockpits (as Obutto).

600 USD is a bit much, don't you think?

near as I can tell, you can get the just as nice, if not nicer, G27 for 250 dollars with similar features, the even nicer fanatec GT3 RS (with clubsport pedals!) for 350 dollars or the fanatec GT2 (which is not only PC/PS3 compatible but also Xbox 350 compatible for 500 dollars, again with the clubsport pedals). why would anybody ever buy a six hundred dollar wheel from thrustmaster, who's only quality products that I know of are built for flight sims?

I like the design, but I'm glad I got my fanatec GT2 when I did.

So let's clear this up:
PS3 is 300 bucks.
GT5 is 60 bucks.
So on top of the 360 dollars I spent to Play GT5 I'm supposed to pay almost double that to properly use a clutch combined with a paddle shifter? What the hell kind of car uses a clutch and paddle shifter combined?
The sale for my PS4 is not looking good right now.

Ok, 600 USD WITHOUT the shifter is just ridiculous. Looks like I won't be buying it anytime soon. Maybe after the price drops to something reasonable.

yep DFGT for me next year cause they just went loco on the price.

You don't have to buy it if you don't want to you know. There are other wheels, from cheap (DFGT) to medium (G27, fanatec) to expensive wheels (T500RS). Each will give you what you pay for, all of them are eough for GT5, with the G27/fanatec wheels having advantages over the DFGT, and the T500RS having advantages over the G27/Fanatec wheels. H-pattern shifter has already been announced for this wheel and is sold separately, and will most likely be 10x better that the fanatec and logitech H-shifters, probably all/mostly metal like the pedal set.

There are much more expensive wheels, and they sell to the people it's targeted to, just like this one will sell to it's targeted audience, that is the more serious sim racers.

What does this have to do with PS4 sales?

I think I am going to get this, use it, then return it within amazon's return day policy. I did a similar thing and purchased a DFGT and G25 back to back to see which one I liked more. If the T500RS (horrible name) is really good then I may keep it, but if it is anything less than amazing, I will return it at no loss. At least this way I will be able to try it out.

The ultimate "throwdown" will come when Fanatec releases their Clubsport H-Pattern shifter. It's going to be interesting to see how these packages all stack up against each other. If the Clubsport H-Pattern shifter is anything like the Clubsport Pedals WATCH OUT! I know I for one am definitely getting it. Hopefully I can get on the beta tester list and get it to test. Would be cool.

The t500rs pedals seems better than the fanatec's. The wheel is definitely better. This is where I get the idea that The shifter will be up to the T500RS' quality, meaning best out there. We know nothing about it though so...We'll see... :dopey:

hm...................

those pedals are better than the clubsports (the pedals you'd get with a PWGT3RS and still only pay 350 dollars for)? the ultra small wheel with vibration motors in the base instead of the rim is better? the lack of clear adjustability is better?

have you ever used a fanatec product?

this wheel might be a little bit better than the fanatec in some ways, but it's clearly not 250 dollars better, and it certainly isn't on a whole new level of quality.

besides, we know it looks nice, but remember that thrustmaster has no history of quality racing wheels, nothing like the pedigree of logitech and fanatec. this is the equivalent of kia creating a car to compete with the 911 and the corvette at the price of a gallardo.

What does this have to do with PS4 sales?
A grand to play a game?
How much will the next one be?
To many better things in life for that amount of money

Dude, how did you conclude that the T500RS is better than the G27 & Fanatec. Its not even out yet and they arent known for quality anyway. I think the majority conclude, that a $2600 wheel is better suited for sim games on PC "iracing" not GT5. GT5 gamers do not want to spend $600USD just for wheel and pedals then extra for shifter. This is too insane to comprehend.

The upside to all this, G27 & fanatec should hopefully drop there price.

👍
