Future do you live in the jungle? That is astounding its in that bad of shape. I've been using my Turbo S wheel for 5 years and it still looks pretty new except for the leather being worn down. That is pretty crazy lol. Looks like it also has paint spackle on it.

I think he has a extremely acidic sweat. Cause everything that's corroded/rusted has been touched by either hands or feet at some point.

My advice for @FutureJustin is that if he wishes to protect his new equipment in the future, he should always and every single time wear both shoes and gloves while he handles anything of metalic nature. Which all high end wheels, pedals, shifters and so are.
I know it's a pain, but it would personally pain me more to see my equipment rot away like this.

Paint? What paint? You mean the white stuff? Oh, that's corrosion too.

I dunno man, I'm sorta proud that it could get this used.

I was first thinking it had to be the humidity (since the bolt screws were all corroded too). How does a person even touch those? But I've never heard of humidity corroding plastic too. Bizarre.

There is those

Not if the humidity include salt particles I suppose. We who live in the northern parts with snow and ice know what salt on the roads can do ;)

Wow!!! It looked bad in the first picture but I never thought it would be that bad.

I don't know how long you've had it but considering the wheel came out in late 2010, even if you purchased it very early that makes it less than 4 years. The amount of wear and rust is appalling.

Haha, yeap. But it isn't really unusable, so it's totally ok to me.

I suppose. Although I live in the tropics. The windows are open a good part of the year. And I'm close enough to be able to smell the ocean air. I've never had any issue with plastics.

Maybe one day I'll be able to afford to live on the beach and test this theory under extreme circumstances;)

I use spray on car wax to protect the T500 and stuff like it from fingerprints and rust. Spray'n'wax or the like.

That's interesting, I hadn't thought of something like that.

Another thing to remember is that you have to be careful on what kind of cleaning products you use on plastic and rubber. Some of those can cause degradation as well.

Hey guys. So I've just sold my wheel. Want to tidy it up as best as possible before I ship it out. Is it safe to take rubbing alcohol on it to clean it? If not, any recommended cleaning method?

Also, is it normal my wheel has a clicking noise occasionally during hard turns? Something to do with the force feedback, something mechanically inside. Isn't affecting the performance or function of the wheel in any way, but it is an audible sound.

soap_hand,

No alcohol, no oils. I use a product called 303 Protectant on the rubber parts of my wheel (and car, and musical instruments). As I posted above, I use Eagle One Spray'n'Wax on plastic and metal parts. These products should only be used on clean surfaces.

Ordinary dirt and grunge on controllers is best cleaned, IMHO,with terry cloth and very warm water, nothing else. The best soap I have used for filthy Tolex on amplifiers, etc., is Ivory dish washing liquid. VERY weak solution, rinse after. Terry cloth dampened with warm water should clean your wheel and pedals fine. Good luck.

Do you guys have Mr. Sheen over there? Going by the smell, I've reckoned that it's pretty much the same stuff, just likely much cheaper.

Good 'ol Armor All (same stuff you use for the interior of your car) works very well on all the plastic parts.

Armor All makes a cleaner, what ever you do don't use armor all on your dashboards or door panels. It amplifies the suns rays and leads to cracking. Always use a cleaner and not a brightener. :)

The more you know.....bong bong boooooong. LOL

To each his own, but Armorall is greasy and attracts dust. It contains silicon oil and when you STOP using it, the silicon oil gradually dries out of the pores of the material, leaving a dry, very porous surface.

Correct me if I am wrong but I think thrustmaster has hinted about some paddle addon for the TX/T300RS for use with custom rims. Anybody heard anything about release dates?

An official PCARS wheel list for the PS4 has come in with so far still no Logitech or Fanatec support... And since pCARS is looking like the first wheel-compatible game for PS4 (earlier release than Driveclub by a few weeks?) it's going to be interesting to see what happens now.

I think its a safe bet that Fanatec will have a new wheel for the PS4, but when? I don't know. Thrustmaster looks to be the only choice at the release of Driveclub and Project CARS. That's not a terrible thing though I suppose, its like not like MADCATZ. The T300 is going to be a great wheel. I love my TX dearly so I'm going to pick up a T300 for PS3/PS4 use and sell my T500RS.

The newest drivers for the T500RS have created a big issue with my TH8 shifter and rFactor2. I have been unable to revert to 4.1; any tips in doing so?

Downloaded the latest drivers update and firmware only to find out that @mrbasher's Config Manager doesn't work with it anymore. :(
ACK! I'll take a look today. :) when a new version is available the configuration manager will tell you. Just hit the little check for update button. I think that's what it's labeled.

Whatever the change it's likely no big deal. :)

Yes, the latest TM drivers have a problem with the TH8RS shifter and rFactor 2. How are you unable to revert? I just downloaded the 2013_TTRS_4 drivers and installed them.
