Don't forget they also stated it best with Gamepod as well. I wouldn't expect the T550 to get an higher score from ISR than the Fanatec wheel even if it's a better wheel. No doubt Gamepod will get a very high score as well even though they seem to drag they feet in reviewing it.

Those of you who have the wheel, how is the rubber of the wheel dealing with sweaty or oily hands? I have a rubber wheel in my RAV4 and I notice oily spots after my wife drives it. Our car that has a leather wheel, it's not such an issue.

I've had no issues with the rubber coating. Very similar to what I have in my Honda Accord. I'm probably in the minority but I prefer it to the leather on the G25/G27.

From the Inside Sim Racing forum, here's Darin Gangi, who's had the PC drivers for a week already:

That having been said, in the most recent episode of Inside Sim Racing TV (Episode 95), Darin and Shaun mention, offhandedly, that the Fanatec Porsche 911 GT2 is "pretty much the best wheel for Grand Turismo 5." Whether or not they are talking about in a particular class or not, I'm not sure. I'll see if I can get an answer to that before anyone else makes the decision to go with the Thrustmaster, or even the Fanatec GT2.

where is this new episode you're referring to? I don't see a link posted anywhere on their forums or at RSC.

All the cockpits presented in the blog as compatibles with T500 RS (Playseats Evo, Obutto Ozone, Speedmaster 2.0, GT Omega) has the same problem: the pedal base inclination. Other not showed in the blog has the same incovenience (for example, Apiga AP1 or Zalem V25 normal).

All these commercial racing wheels (DFs, G25/27, Fanatec Porsche, and all the Thrustmaster ones, including the new T500 RS) comes with pedals to mount in a plain floor. Why this commitment from manufacturers to continue making cockpits with inclined bases for the pedals?. The position obtained is not natural or comfortable.

When will be released the ultimate cockpit with a full regulable pedal inclination, as the SimR-Runcage from Manu-Factory (but with a reasonable price)??...

You can remove the plate from the Obutto if you want. I actually like the low incline with the pedals set in rally position. They just need to secured if you use the realistic brake mod and are heavy on the brake.

Without the full review of the T500 RS...

I don´t know if ISR received the T500 RS unit for free, but of course if this was so, Thrustmaster has not come out financially profitable. :)

One free unit cost them profit?

Thrustmaster did furnish ISR one for review purposes. They're waiting for more support before the full review, which with the PC drivers out is probably in progress.

I don't really care for ISR's reviews. I appreciate that they do them, but they badly need to work on their format. They also need to be a little more timely for sure, if they really want to help their target audience (especially the enthusiasts and early adopters) make an informed decision... although I do respect the need to not be "FIRST!!!" and to give themselves a cooldown, as well as the fact that they revisit earlier reviews and update them.

they also seem to rate everything well and give similar ratings. like G27 got a 9(?) and GT3 rs got a 9.1(?) but they never use G27's and make it sound like its not nearly as good in the review.

Those guys are just enthusiasts too, and honestly, I'm sure the G27 is too "standard" these days for them to be passionate about. That said, I've seen it used and they never really have much bad to say about it... it's just kind of the yardstick. If they use it as their basis for comparison, alot of people have a good point of reference.

I sometimes think they feel like they need to please the people who provide them products to review. Like when they do bag on a Fanatec item (like the dreaded table clamp) they almost always say, "I'm sorry Thomas, but..." and that's not what I personally want to see... but I understand why.

What a really wish is, when they give something a score, tell us WHY. I don't give a care that it's "4.5 of 10" in your little box, tell us WHY it was as you display the score. Yeah, I know it might be a little more work... but it'll be better if you do it right, I promise!!

I'm not bagging on ISR tho (or at least I don't really WANT to) as it's still a heck of a production for an online show, and having made it work for 95 episodes is quite an achievement. BRING ON THE FULL T500 REVIEW!!

Not quite right, in their wheel shoot out last year the top scoring was a Turbo S with 85 and the other wheels were around the 79/80 mark. They rated the GT2 89 so by some margin, in their opinion, it's the best wheel at an affordable price on the market .... until they give the Thrustmaster a 90?!

There is some more profiles for "GTR Evolution" available here:
http://ts.thrustmaster.com/eng/index.php?pg=view_files&gid=1&fid=2&pid=316&cid=12

Very easy to install (just copy files in directory “GTR Evolution/UserData/ControlSet”):

These 2 profiles have different “ForceFeedback effects”:
- “T500_RS_PROFILE01” is more Arcade-type
- “T500_RS_PROFILE02” is more Simulation-type

I've tried and I very love Profile02 (Simulation type). Feeling of the car is incredible and really immersive .

Any idea where to install if you have the steam version? There's no userdata/controlset with steam installation.

I can't help you (I have only CD version of this game). But there is probably a "ControlSet" directory somewhere in "GTR Evolution" directory.
If i'm not wrong, you must also launch the game a 1st time (& create a driver name & nationality) to have this "ControlSet" directory.

So is this for sale yet? I want to get one but I can only find one on amazon for $1500. No thanks.

They are for sale, but they're still very new, and demand is high thanks to GT5, so supply is very scarce.

When you click in game on the button to open the game folder, then the folder with steam data openes. I found it after 1 hour :D

So here is a video with the T500 rs in gtr evo in monza. :)

Huge thanks! I never could figure that out with my Steam version. With profile2, I honestly think the FFB is better than iRacing. It truly shows the feedback this wheel is capable of.

Thread is all over, any new info about a H pattern shifter or even implementing current shifters on the market?

Thanks in Advance. I really want this wheel, but the lack of clutch and H pattern shifter keeps me from buying.

I am sure you are talking about GT5 and PS3 implementation specifically but...

...on my PC, I use CSPs and an SST Lightning shifter with my T500 and things work fabulously. I also used the T500 pedals with the shifter for a bit and there IS a clutch usable with the PC drivers.

Anyone else found that the T500 gotten a bit louder? When I turn the wheel it doesn't seem as quiet as it used to be. It's like a bit of a crackling sound or something. Seems rather random but more often when near the center I think.

Does anyone know the bolt size for the hub?

58mmhub.jpg

I'm getting a 70mm adapter made to fit my MOMO wheel to the T500(whenever it gets here from preorder)

/\ You did not just guess at a bolt size from pic did you? hahahaha Classic my man classic. What about thread pitch? He will need to know that!

All in good fun man.
