Here's my set-up. Pedals in rally position and angled down, with realistic braking mod installed. Obutto pedal plate at its lowest incline (I still get a bit of slipping, so I'm going to mount the pedals with industrial velcro strips). Wheel is attached to plate via supplied clamp with no slipping or movement thus far. Buttkicker Gamer 2 attaches perfectly to the rear support rail.

You can't see it in the picture, but I have the small receiver for a wireless Pioneer surround sound headset mounted to the bottom of the monitor stand just above the pedals; the Gamer 2 amplifier is mounted via a small bracket to the chair rail -- and run through the headphones in jack on the headphone receiver.

The Playstation Eye camera works, but only in Arcade mode, unfortunately.

Good solid rig, and fits the wheel and pedals very well.

How are you liking the pedals in rally mode? I think you're the only one I've seen running that setup.

Also please tell us how it compares to F1 style if there is even a difference.

As I said in my original review, I like the rally mode a bit better than the F1 mode, mostly because it allows me to recline my seat a little more and slide it back a notch or two. The pedals configured this way are more about pushing in than they are about pressing down, which has helped me better finesse my braking. Coming from the G25 -- where locking up the brakes was almost the default -- I can feel a real difference (in both modes; I had the pedals set in F1 mode for the first couple days).

About the brake pedal mod, it feels very liner up until the I hit the foam, which looks like about 70-80 percent of depression, then after that it just feels like something got stuck in the pedal before I hit 100 percent. I think I really do need a perfect pedal mod for this set.
Another thing about it in "GT" mode, is that when too happy braking the pedals doesnt stay put, I guess I need to find some way to fix it down.

Hi Jeff, if you have the means would you mind posting a video of gameplay with your obutto? I am curious about how rigid the steering wheel platform is with a wheel like this one.

I am interested in exact the same thing.

If I can get my wife to film me, or if she'll drive so I can film her, I'll try to post something later this evening. I'll also try to shoot vid with and without the Buttkicker on.

I had my wife drive for a minute, sound off, Buttkicker Gamer 2 on, so that you could get a sense of the rattle brought on from the silent subwoofer, and see how the cockpit holds up. I gave her a car I knew she'd have trouble with so she'd hit a wall or two and spin out so that you could gauge the stability both of the monitor and of the wheel on the Obutto wheel plate. Again, I haven't hard-mounted the wheel; the wheel is only attached with the provided clamp.

No, it's not loose. What you're hearing is the rattle of the keyboard tray (oftentimes when I play the remote control or whatever else I have sitting there will shake right off) and a pair of headphones that were sitting on the shifter mount.

Ok cool, you had me a bit worried! A Buttkicker will be affixed to my Obutto in a week or so. As will a T500, most likely.

Is rumble from music annoying when you're expecting to feel road bumps and such?

Not at all. You can actually set the amplifier to get rid of a lot of stray rumble if you want.

I love the thing. Adds a whole new dimension to the driving experience.

I don't want to get way off topic. But, how do you have it wired? Using the PS3's RCA jacks?

What are you noticing as far as timing between feeling something through the wheel and feeling it through the BK?

Timing is very realistic.

As for wiring, I have an optical cable going from the PS3 to the Pioneer wireless headset receiver, and the BK hooked up through the headphone jack on the Pioneer receiver.

Hello Jeff.

I´m very interested in this setup, because I´m considering to buy an Obutto for the T500 RS.

I asked about the pedal plate lower positions in the Obutto threat, but mayority of user set it in the upper positions.

I also want to see a photo of the pedals set for rally well configured, something I have not yet achieved.

Could you post any bigger image, or to send me a private message with it?.

Thanks.

The Playstation Eye camera works, but only in Arcade mode, unfortunately.

And in the easy level only...

Hey Jeff,

I have a similar Obutto Setup as yours and am interested in how you mounted your monitor - looks like a 32" LG? I was trying to figure out a way to get my 32" to work but it would be too close with the standard setup - did you reverse the Obutto Display mount and fabricate something?

Thanks for any info!

Those of you who have the wheel, how is the rubber of the wheel dealing with sweaty or oily hands? I have a rubber wheel in my RAV4 and I notice oily spots after my wife drives it. Our car that has a leather wheel, it's not such an issue.

I haven't experienced any problems with the rubber.

I would say the wheel actually gets more grip over a 60-90 minute race. My G25/7s always got a little sweaty and slick on a long race.

On a side note, I have had to turn my wheel force down to 60%. My wrists were killing me at 80% and a long race:)

Like your profile picture, I have literally just finished watching the Speed Racer movie on TV!! Racer X is class!!:)

Is it possible to use the chilicoke adapter to mount a real 350mm Momo wheel on the Thrustmaster wheel? That would be awesome!

From the Inside Sim Racing forum, here's Darin Gangi, who's had the PC drivers for a week already:

It feels as good or better on the PC.. This wheel is incredible !

Rhawn Black who owns an ECCi Trackstar 7000 came over last week to try it and was very impressed.

That having been said, in the most recent episode of Inside Sim Racing TV (Episode 95), Darin and Shaun mention, offhandedly, that the Fanatec Porsche 911 GT2 is "pretty much the best wheel for Grand Turismo 5." Whether or not they are talking about in a particular class or not, I'm not sure. I'll see if I can get an answer to that before anyone else makes the decision to go with the Thrustmaster, or even the Fanatec GT2.

Best of the reviewed wheels so far. Because of the ajustability you get from the wheel in GT5.
They say its the best wheel for combined console/pc.
No we wait if the T550 gets a higher score!
