I did not know the American NA SW20 had the 5S-FE :embarrassed:

Yep, I only found that out because i've got the american SW20 repair manual on my pc. It's a bit of a help because it has the 3S-GTE bits as well, which is fairly similar to my 3S-GE barring all the extra stuff from the turbo. I realy need to go and order the EU repair manual though.

I want to get some coilovers, a TRD front swaybar and maybe some nice 16 inch wheels. Although I want to learn how to drive my car properly before I do anything like that.

Nice MR2 MistaY, when you say you are going to learn how to drive it before you modify it do you mean you're going to go out on a track and have a good "practice"?

MistaY
Also the front wheels are starting to get covered in brake pad dust again. I swear next time i'm gonna buy some pagid pads or ebc's instead of toyota oem ones and hope they don't give off so much dust.

Stop using your brakes so much then, they only slow you down.:sly:

I'm in! 2000 model AE112-R Corolla. A few small, insignificant mods (exhaust, suspension, filter). I'll post a pic when I can find what I did with my photo album.
Only ever had one problem with a clutch under warranty, and even my friends with V8's are suprised how well I could keep up with them (back in the days when I did stupid things on the road).

Sign me up....My fav japanese brand...but I respect the others too. Toyota just appeals to me more.

My Eight-Two Nova wouldn't start this morning.

Yesterday, I replaced the fuel pump on my 4A-LC engine: the old one was spitting motor oil out a hole in it's casting. This also came with a liberal dousing of Carb cleaner into the two-barrel carb. I had to remove the air cleaner housing...which involved removing several ends of the miles of hoses under an eighties carb'd car. I'm sure I re-placed all of them, as well as the hoses to and from the fuel pump.

This morning, the carb looked rather wet with fuel. Okay I flooded it, and the pump is getting gas to the carb...I think...but when I went back after twenty minutes....It acted the same way. still wouldn't start.

So, I hate Carbeuretors, and I hate C.A.R.B. (California Air Resources Board) for screwing them up. did I do something wrong? there's three hoses running from the fuel pump, two on the intake side, is it possible I got those backwards?

Whoa, like I said I'm rarely on GTP so this last message is already quite old. :guilty:
I know nothing about mechanics so I cannot help you and that engine was never sold here in my country so I doubt I can get any help from the local Toyota fans. Do you have any updates on the car.

Anyway my Supra is at the shop right now, It's having some engine problems as well. :(

Yeah, I got an update.

My eight-two is fixed. (been for a while) Turns out I needed a new distributor Cap and Plugs. runs just fine now.

I visited my grandpa last weekend, and he helped me wax and wash the car. I must've done a good job, because when it rains, the water beads up. It now looks just like your car after you wash it in GT4. gotta take a pic, but don't have a camera.

Glad to read that everything is okay. As for my car it needs to replace the crankshaft main bearings <- I think this is the correct name in English....
It happened because the former owner must have at some point used a very bad oil or the car runned without any oil. :(

Sorry to hear, any crankshaft damage or did you detect it early enough?

No, no damage in the crankshaft or anywhere else thank God!! It seems I have detected it in time. It was a very faint knocking on the engine and it only happened between 2500-3000rpm. There was no lack of power or vibrations on the car but it scared me so much that went and out it at the shop right away. Good thing I always drive around with the radio turned off, otherwise I wouldn't have hear it and I'm also lucky that it started doing it in the spring, if it was in the winter the windows would be shut and I wouldn't hear it. I must have some lucky star...

Oh yeah your lucky you caught it that early, good work. 👍

Most definitely lucky. You burn through those and things get EXPENSIVE. You'll have to take the bottom end apart, (Sound like you have..) but the parts themselves shouldn't be too expensive.

Yep, everything is ready to receive the new parts. I'll just have to wait because they have to come from Japan :dopey: Usually 4 to 5 days is enough.

Well, I've just finished putting some new suspension bits in (rear sway and front strut brace). I took a friend for a ride and the car is now so solid around corners I made them sick! :) Aah, the joys of near zero body roll. I'm planning on taking the car to Tasmania later this year and running as much of the Targa roads as possible... at legal speeds of course.

just spotted a ST18x celica today for sale. jet black, clean, looks totally SWEEEEEEET...i might just check it out. rather have the 20X "bug eyes" (or a bug eyes Impreza, for that matter), but I'll jump on SOMETHING not a ford, thank you :P

I guess I sould join up, too.

If all goes to plan, I should finally be coming into possesion on an AE86, which I've been lusting after since taking one on a few laps last year, within the next couple months. Looking at a GTS-converted coupe with a few suspension bits, etc. Cosmetically not great, but I wasn't planning on keeping much of the external stuff, anyway.

You see, I'm hopelessly infatuated with Levin coupes. So, if I pick it up, that'll be the first thing I do, aside from getting some good rubber and taking care of any mechanical issues that may arise. The only question for me is what direction I'll take the looks with, being split between a Kouki, with OEM aero, GT-Apex fogs, and gold mesh rims, with a coat of gloss black, or going a bit wilder and doing a Group-A style aero and white paint/rims treatment.

Don't worry, though, while it may be getting some appearance makeover, it'll be seeing plenty of action. Aside from the occasional meet/classic JDM show, it'll be doing nothing but track and canyon duty, and won't be doing much, if any, drifting, either. I'm especially looking forward to the AE86-only races that should be getting put together later in the year, in a sort of american attempt to replicate Group A-style racing. Because of that, the motor will stay mostly stock, but efforts will focus on racing essentials, like rollcage, interior work (seats, harnesses, fire supression, etc), and race wheels and tires.

Hey guys, I'm currently living in Okinawa Japan. Here is a picture of my brand new car. Wanted to share this with the great people in this forum. The car is 2.5 L Turbo and it runs very smooth. I took this with my cell phone so its not a clear shot. I should have some better pict shots by the end of week because I'm still working on the car itself.

Thanks

what exactly IS that car? looks like i'd like it. Big V-8 Supercar-class car, might remove the Bling wheels.

Its a Toyota Mark II Grande (JZX110).

Real nice car. 👍

hey guys, thanks for checking out my post.

The car is a Mark 2 Grande (jzx110) ir-v Turbo (new name for tourer V). So far on the car I have Toyota factory full body kit and 18 inch deep dish rims.
I'm looking for more sporting rims, but for now I'm going to stick to the luxury style..
The only aftermarket item I got is a Blitz SUS Power intake. I'm pushing around 300 HP with a lot of Tourque.
Future plans are to add in an aftermarket muffler, apexi FC computer, and intercooler. I'm still working on handling the power as of now, but very fun car to drive. Nice for crusing because its automatic. It has potential but it needs more time. I can keep up with 180's and s13, s14 but not beat them...we'll see when everything is all hooked up..

i'll put up some more pictures in a week or so.

peace out
lex

And us Americans!

damn, a bored-out 4.3 in that would make a great competitor to the 300-C and Zetas.

I would've joined but I'm already in the Honda club. Honda is just a little bit better ;) But I really love the Supra!!
