The Toyota Fan Club!

good gravy...they're still making the Mark 2? that's like finding a Crown, Cressida, or a Starlet over here (and I know where a Starlet is sitting that'd probably be worth restoring!)

oh, btw...we DID get the mark 2, if I remember right. i have a plug catalog from 91 that goes all the way down to 73 with name listings, and 68 with engines alone. even covers Antiques.

Finding a Starlet isn't hard.. My dad has one right now cus my grandpa died so he uses it now..
It's 15years old, and has no scratches!!! Only 90.000km driven :D

Lately I drive in the Starlet 94' 1.3 automatic for some time, and I must say it drive pretty good for a car that old and that class, I like the handling, but of course the tires are far too small in width to take a good corner.....

Sniffs
just spotted a ST18x celica today for sale. jet black, clean, looks totally SWEEEEEEET...i might just check it out. rather have the 20X "bug eyes" (or a bug eyes Impreza, for that matter), but I'll jump on SOMETHING not a ford, thank you :P

You should get an ST16x. Those are teh awesome. :sly:

Or you should go for a MA67 Celica Supra. :)

Well, count me in too. Here's my Toyota:
Yo.jpg

I've always loved Toyota 4x4s. Especially the pickups! This one has the 3RZFE 4-cyl and she's got a 5-speed. 112,000 miles+ and she's averaging 21-22 mpg on mainly city driving.
I guess you could say I've grown up with Toyotas. The first truck I learned to drive was a 1983 Toyota HiLux reg. cab long bed 2wd auto; my stepmom drove a 1981 Toyota Celica Supra (I wanted that car *so bad! She sold it for $400.00 because it had some "problems"...grumble grumble grumble...); the first pickup truck I owned was a 1994 Toyota pickup...reg cab, short bed, 4wd with the 22RE 4-cyl. My favorite Toyota? The 1985 HiLux 4WD from the first 'Back to the Future' movie. 2nd favorite? The 1998 Supra twin turbo targa. Gotta be a targa top. And 3rd would have to be the MR2 turbo :D.

Welcome to the club 👍

Is that somekind of Tacoma model?

Could be an Hilux but those headlights look strongly like the last Tacoma model ;)

Thanks man! Yep, you nailed it. I forgot to specify in that post: she's a 1997 Toyota Tacoma. I still have yet to play on the trails with it, but with the street radials she's wearing, I'm kinda scared to. After I get new tires, though...

You kow how the Pontiac Vibe and Geo Prism are based on the Matrix and Corolla, respectively? Same Deal. This Nova is an AE82 Corolla at heart.

I think I've been over this already.

Indeed :D

There are more videos from the same youtube user with other Toyotas, they are FWD though. e-brake FTW :)

There is also one with a Lexus IS200 also without an LSD.

You're really enjoying your time with the Supra, huh?

If you buy a car like that you have to play with it at least once in a while :dopey: or it will be a sad car :P

How much mileage you have on it? I wonder how fast you can get it :D

The fastest I have ever been was 143 mph. It could still go faster but I had two more people in the car and I thought it was already too risky so I backed it off. The car does 160 mph (in the odometer off course)

The car currently has about 53 thousand miles.

Any thoughts of putting some bad-ass rims on it? :D

No :P I like the stock ones :guilty: even though I know that there are rims that will look much better and will also be lighter. I'm thinking of lowering the car about an inch, improve the brakes, fitting an LSD and try to make it lighter. Apart from lowering it, those are expensive mods, so I don't know if I'll make them all until I shoot myself in the Head and buy a JZA80 :dopey:

Another thread digging! :D

Me and a couple of friends are organizing a small meet in a very cool and isolated mountain road.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=2u-T5emiyic

They are not going very fast since I don't have any in-car support for the camera I was using a Tripod and had to hold the tripod in place.

We've been there several times at night at not a single car passes by, there are no houses nearby so we don't bother anyone with noise too.

We had (and will have) people at the end and beginning of the road to warn us if a car enters the road.

The meet is not limited to Toyotas, anyone can come, but mostly it will have Toyotas. 2 AE86 are going and also an MR2 Turbo. I'm not sure if I'll take the Supra or the Celica :P

Also only one car goes at a time, so it's not a "racing" event. It's just to have some fun with our ride.

I'll give an update when the meet is done (mid-January perhaps)

Pink_the_Floyd was banned?? Why?

Id like to join. My whole family owns Toyotas. My mom has a Sequoia, my dad has a Tacomma, and my Sis has a Corolla S. Ill get my dads Taco next year and he'll get a new one. I love Toyotas, Uber reliable and run great.

I'm a big Toyota head here! I got an '85 SR5 Corolla (AE86, fanboys!) for a daily. Sorry, no mods, plan on keeping this 2nd owner heap all stock! ;) I also have a '95 Supra TT for my toy. I'm looking to get a job with Toyota once I'm out of college.

Daggoth, you on Supraforums? If not, you should be! Excellent source, the only thing I recommend is stay away from Member's Rides! It makes you want to spend more money on your car. :( Anyways, have you posted pictures of your car? As you might guess, I'm a HUGE Supra fanatic. ;) Lemme see!

The first Supra posted (first reply to this thread) belongs to a guy named Kerr. It's a custom widebody Supra that's widely regarded as one of the best widebodies on the planet. It's currently for sale for $60K. Here's some at-home shots, you can see how wide it is here. http://rides.webshots.com/album/362837824eHJhpm
It's an auto, which will disappoint you guys, I'm sure, but it's good for about 1200RWHP

I know this is bringing back a fairly old thread but I thought it was the best thread for what I had to say... (not that anyone will really pay attention being that it's about a Toyota here on the GTP).

In any case...
I just got back from dumping some trash at the local dump.
They made me pull up, get weighed, then dump, then weigh again as to calculate my fee.

Well, just for the fun of it I asked the lady how much my car weighed with me in it (after dumping) (with a half tank of gas)...

2840lbs.
Toyota listed the Corolla S '06 at 2615 with auto transmission.

When I got home I weighed myself... 265lbs.

Do the math...

My Corolla S '06, automatic transmission with half tank of gas weighs 2575 without driver!
. :D

I was suprised to see my car weighed that little. 👍
Of course, this isn't to say it's a sports car but none the less it does give me room to toss the car about without trouble (good low profile tires would be nice on something that lightweight). 👍

Any way, I just figured I'd mention that for any of you who appreciate lightweight cars in this modern world of 3000lbs. hatchbacks.
