Someone's edited it to say TVR Speed 12 is a motorshow right at the start, instead of 1997, British mostorshow, what the hell. I'm changing that back, someones made a few minor grammar corrections already though, which is nice.

The TVR Speed 12 is a motorshow?

I knew it was important, but...

I've just noticed, it's been put as a BBC related article, how is that a BBC related article. It has absolutely nothing to do with the BBC, it's automotive article. Wikipedia's more complicated than it has to be.

Thank you gt2005 and TVRKing 👍.

Don't mention it mate! Really great article. Interesting to know more about the Speed 12 and its history.

It seems that I can read the article more and more again. Maybe there's a book of TVR available so I can get some more interesting facts about TVR.

Guys I heard some of the worst news, on Five News yesterday. They were saying after the staff lay off at the Blackpool plant, the Blackpool plant is going to be closing.

I hope TVR will stay in Blackpool, or either open a new factory in Southampton or Swindon.

They've been saying that plant's closing for age's now, due to the out of date facilities there, they have ben given the option to renew the lease there but it's a long term lease and Smolenski want's better facilities asap. Not in a few years time, the staff layout is the same as it was last year, when 90 people had to stop going in, 67 of them eneded up back working there, the other's were replaced because they had found new job's. It's temporary, the bad thing about being small is that if you do over produce it hit's your production rate's hard, the good thing is, tyhe ammount you've overproduced isn't that high so you can get rid of them in a shorter space of time. I don't know if they'll be staying in Blackpool though, there's no where there for them to build the facilities they want, that's what I've heared anyway.

But I reckon with Smolenski's money, TVR can create one of the best British car company producing plants in the world Live.

Probably, there's a lot of unused sites in the UK they can gop to and build new facilities on one of thoes.

Not surprised really. The fact that the works has been there for 59 years is something of an achievement in the British car industry.

Old Jaguar plant in Coventry maybe? :D

This is Piston Heads take on the old factory closing.

TVR: the company carries on - official

Factory to close after relocation

Contrary to current rumours, TVR is not closing: instead, it plans to leave the current factory at Blackpool's Bristol Avenue within six months, according to a company spokesman. The new premises will be "somewhere in the region", he said. He couldn't say why the factory had to close but confirmed that 71 people were laid off out of a total workforce of around 320.

He added that some assembly may be outsourced, which could mean that it goes abroad, but the spokesman said that nothing had definitely been decided on this issue. "We just want the best future for TVR", he said.

The reason behind the move is that "TVR has had a long winter. People normally start to get interested in cars before this time of year", he said, but instead, sales had been slow. "We're currently making 10 cars a week," he said.

Last week, TVR spokesman Ian Law said that TVR remains optimistic that its plans to expand in the Middle and Far East, will help to pull it out of the problems created by slow domestic demand. In addition, Law reckoned that we're in for some big surprises at the British Motor Show in July.

Elsewhere, local paper Blackpool Today is reporting that the workers' union, the TGWU, slammed TVR for the way it handled the news, with the local senior shop steward calling the company "cowardly" for its management of the announcement.

One worker is reported to have said: "I've no idea what the future holds now."

Just a min ago I posted this peice of news up in auto news:

Source: AutoCar

TVR is planning three new models and has a long-term goal of 5000 sales per year, despite its well-publicised decision to close its current base in Blackpool this summer.

In an exclusive report in tomorrow's Autocar (May 3), the firm's managing director David Oxley reveals that the firm's owner Nikolai Smolenski wants TVR to be able to make 5000 cars per year - more than double its highest ever output.

He also wants the new models to be sold in more foreign markets, such as Dubai, Malaysia and Singapore, and forthcoming emissions tests should make that possible.

The new models will fill the present positions of Sagaris, Tuscan and Cerbera. They will use revised versions of TVR's own six-cylinder engine, and an out-sourced V8. As shown below is the exclusive drawing of, the new 'TVR face' will retain the curvy styling that has featured on so many ofits recent models.

TVR has committed to leave its Bristol Avenue factory - which is still owned by the firm's former proprietor Peter Wheeler - but sources remain tight-lipped on whether its future plans will be based in the UK or overseas.

Also guys I post up the rest of the images, relating to the 3 new models later on.

And in the lastest mag, there is talk of an even more pricey supercar from TVR in the making. One of the supercars over 200MPH, which should be out this year is the Typhon.

But I would have to say we may see a brother of a Speed 12 coming out in the future, but more easy to handle. But TVR King its good TVR are using V8's, it would be kool if they used the all alloy Rover V8 again in some future TVR's.

With the All Alloy V8 being made modem, and with a supercharger. But I reckon the pricier supercar, which is more exclusive then the other models may use a V12. Plus it would be mentle if TVR made a mentle hatchback, but with only 500 made with a stright Six or a V6 tuned by TVR.

-----

I love that design as well TVR King, but people dished the Sagaris looks, next it grew on them. But when the Sagaris was first shown, I loved the looks of it.

Aye. The Rover V8 powered TVR's sounded great. 👍

If TVR do make another supercar, it'd have to put a V12 in, otherwise it could go the same way as the XJ220.

Or maybe they good make there own version of a W16 or V16, then put it in the pricier car. Or maybe they could just stick 2 straight 8 engines together, then tune them up and add a supercharger.

Oh and the new models will have rear defuses at the back. But if any future TVR's did use the straight 8, then there would be no better British supercar maker to work on a straight 8. Aka Straight 8 engines would love to be worked on by TVR.

I agree, the next 12 months will be very interesting for TVR, maybe not easy, but with Smolenski's money they will be confident. The Cerbera replacement will probably be the key, if TVR get that right, which I have no doubt that they will, that will be the biggest step forward they can make.

I'll go with that. 👍

Exporting more to USA and Japan will be some of the major markets for TVR, but there keeping the light weight boddies in the cars. But also the 3 new models will have ABS, traction control and air begs.

But of course will people who love TVR's will turn off ABS and traction control.

Or maybe TVR will offer them as optional extras instead. :)

I think they said they will offer it with all cars, but of course they will allow you to turn them off. Expect for airbags.

I saw a TVR Cerbera (I think Cerbera) today, seen a few getting around. My friends boss owned one.

A TVR in Australia?

Woah.

Is it an import, or is there actually a TVR dealer there?

I don't think we have an official dealer in Australia but they get imported along with all sorts of cars around the world that we don't get through conventional dealers.

Here is a few TVR's for sale in Australia (nice and expensive :D)

This sounds very rare, interesting? (only 400miles!)

Its an import, but I think there over charging for those. You can get good Griffith's for under £25k in the UK, and you can also find good Tasmins for under £19k in the UK.

You can get a good Tuscan for £25k here, I wouldn't pay more than £16k for a Griffith.

Ok guys if I see any of the new TVR's at Thruxton this year, or Goodwood FOS 06 I be sure to tell you lot. Also if I am going to this years British Motorshow in London, I have a look out as well.

And I be sure to get photos as well buds.
