The Vehicle Wish List & Info Database

-> Now I'm really lagging behind. :scared:

-> My laptop was borrowed by my best friend for his DJ gig and I ended up without internets for almost a week! Plus a rare snow strom came to Las Vegas (3.6 in), and I had too much fun doing the DWIFTMODE on my S2K.

-> As I try to analyze, research, and add notable cars, heres what I have to say:

I think more like the Tickford Program that Ford had as its performance operation for cars like the AU TE50 Falcon, also similar to AMG and Mercedes Benz operation before Merc bought them out (took full control).

Read page 2 of the official brochure that states the "New HOLDEN Commodore SS Group A"
http://www.uniquecarsandparts.com.au/brochures_hdt_brock_vk_group_a.htm

And please go back and fix the listings as said by myself in previous posts!

Or alternatively do what you want as I'm over it!

Thank you and goodnite!
^ As you blab away, I added couple of cars that you stated and provided with links.

-> Why so angsty? :confused:

^ Damn! You beat me thru it! It's all good thou. ;)

That is correct TVB. HDT is HSV before 1987. After the parting, HSV was born properly, and the Walkinshaw was the 1st car released by HSV (affectionately known as the PLASTIC PIG!!).

Yep, the VL model HDT Director. There was a VK version aswell, which was the first Holden to use the 304ci 5.0L V8, after they retired the faithful 308ci 5.0L V8 which we had been using since the 60's!!
^ Got the Wakinshaw and the VK Director with links attached. ;)

Actually, considering the one you posted is a 4wd extended cab and I had a 2wd regular cab on my list, it's not a better pic. But I guess the one I suggested is sorta bad too, so here's a better one. :P
http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u295/buickgnx88/1993_ford_splash_ranger.jpg
^ Done! ;)

^ Some of the pics you provided was a little tacky for my taste so I replaced it with a more appropriate setup (browse thru the list or on my log below). :)

-> Although some of your links are very educational! ;)

It's not as such with the Holden side. Both have had their roots integrated as part of Holden but both have their own identity like a semi-seperate entity. The HDT's of the 80's you could buy just by walking into any Holden showroom and were kept in a different part of the showroom. The HSV's of today are the same, they are just marketed more cleverly and have their own section in the Holden showroom.

Tickford, on the other hand, was the precursor to FPV and was the only option Ford fans had here to get a performance Ford. Tickford was commissioned by Ford to engineer the XR6 and XR8 in the early 90's to give Ford Australia the cars to compete against the Commodore SS and early HSV Clubsports & Senators which were dominating the performance car market here. Over the years they developed the 4.0L SOHC motor from 150Kw to around 175Kw by ECU changes, exhaust changes and introducing Variable Cam Timing and were instrumental in giving Ford the R&D they needed to develop the 4.0L DOHC VCT six that's N/A in the base Falcon range and XR6 here and the XR6 Turbo & F6 Typhoon got the turbocharged version, now punching out 310Kw in the F6. 👍 They still have the XR8 & GT aswell (now 315Kw in the GT).
There were other Ford tuners (like Herrod) that are considered like Alpina would be for BMW but Tickford was Ford's 'factory' answer to HSV for 10yrs.

Hope this all helps TVB. 👍
^ It did! Although it was a long essay, I see clearly now:

Before '90s
HDT (under Holden) vs. Tickford (under Ford AU)

'90s and up

HSV vs. FPV

Separate entities after '90s
HDT & Tickford

-> Other than the ones requested from the past post, most that are added are particularly headliners. For example, two super-rare Lambo's; a plethoria of V10-powered PT Cruiser & Ram (and its not the SRT); another Russian sports car; an Asian-only Honda sedan; a V12 Jag; a super-special SLR; Troy's V10 custom; Steve Saleen's new company; the Ultimate Aero version 2; more Tickford's; HDT and Holden fusion; a 'Cuda 6-shooter; and a Challenger rendered track car.

unv412 As far as the [VC
, I thought it was only called a HDT Commodore, not a group C??????

nd 4 holden spd-> All your Holden's are on my log with links to pics ready to be posted in. Once I posted these cars, could you please double-check if these cars are correct according to those pics, thanks! :)

Also I beleive that The Holden Dealer Team manufacturer designation doesnt apply to
Commodore [VC] Sedan '80
Commodore [VK] SS Group A Sedan '84
Commodore [VL] Calais LE 3.0L Turbo Sedan '86

as they should be under Holden. They were never called HDT.

Also Commodore [VC] Sedan '80 should read Commodore [VC] HDT Sedan '80.

Pfew, now I know what TVB must feel like:nervous:

HDT was licenced under Holden ie Holden Commodore [VK] SS Group A was built by HDT but "still sold as a Holden. Do you agree?

HSV is, you'll find classed as separate manufacturer (I think even on the build plate of the vehicle)...so no I wouldnt file HSV under Holden (my cousins get very pissed off when you call their car a holden:sly:). As for the whole history of why HDT split up and who owns it now, it doesnt change the fact that the cars where always sold as a Holden.

TVB, could you please fix the following -

-HOLDEN-
Holden Commodore Ute [VE] SS pickup '08 (delete the word "pickup" as it is just called the "ute")

Holden Kingswood [HQ] SS 5.0L sedan '71 (delete "kingswood" and the engine size is 4.2L not 5.0L)

Holden Torana [LX] A9X sports car '77 (delete "sportscar" as its not required)

-HOLDEN DEALER TEAM-
HDT Commodore [VC] tuner sedan '80 (should be..Commodore [VC] HDT '80...and belongs under HOLDEN)

HDT Commodore [VK] SS Grp. A tuner sedan '84 (should be..Commodore [VK] HDT SS Group A '84... delete 'tuner sedan"and belongs under HOLDEN)

HDT Commodore [VL] Calais LE 3.0L Turbo 'The Director' tuner sedan '86 (should be..Commodore [VL] HDT LE '86... Directer was a totally different car and delete 'tuner sedan"and belongs under HOLDEN)

QUOTE=The Vanishing Boy;3219463]-> ^ Why? I know it might not be relevant to you at first, but what about the others who does not have as much as automotive knowledge as we are. Take note on my 1st post:

then please change every 4 door sedan that wheres a "M" or "AMG" badge to sports sedan and you should also point out sport coupes and sports cars and...and....and....you see what I mean? The designation for concept IMO is the only one needed!

^ I'm doing this to educate people, sharing the love or somthing like that.

Isn't that what the links are for????

^ I revised 'Kingswood' as a sub-model just like the 1st SRT-4 which is basically a Neon. I also edited the engine size to 4.2 too. :)

Again, this car is listed by Holden as a "SS" not a "kingswood" therefore no need for sub models as this just complicates things for no reason. For example a Holden Commodore [VK] HDT SS Group A '84 is based of an "SL" or poverty pack Commodore, does this mean we should list it as a sub model??? It would look stupid as Holden Commodore (SL) [VK] HDT SS Group A '84 !!!!

Ok, now I'm confused...these HDT's are also called Brock. Are these like Shelby's is to Ford USA's? But on my opinion they may be a slim chance that they can be a straight Holden. But so far, I'm sticking -HDT- unless if there is sufficient proof.

Its like a pet name for the cars, like a HSV Commodore [VL] SS Grp. A '87 is called a "Walkinshaw" named after the guy who ran the HSV operation. Either way take it from me, my cousin owns a "brocky" and registration papers say its a Holden first and foremost.....and if you dont beleive me, lets leave it open to other forum members to discuss it.👍

So you mean is we shouldnt be as technically accurate as possible because at the end of the day its only a wish list?

Btw heres an informative post (#3) by Motorsportnerd with the basic jist on the whole HDT being separate to Holden for specific cars only etc http://www.ultimatecarpage.com/foru...y-all-ford-day-all-clubs-day-amc-masters.html and also on the whole VL Director error try this site http://www.brockcommodores.com/
under "fact files" for VL.......and if all else fails do consult the wholy grail for all things Aussie Muscle....Australian Muscle Car Magazine!!!!

^ The second link looks pretty useful, and I'll dig onto that later. I was pretty much busy on compiling Ford Mustangs from US and Austrailia. :ill:

-> Now the issue is, are these cars under HDT, Holden, or Brock? The link you gave says 'Brock'. ;)

lol...............its confusing alright, as not all the HDT cars belong under Holden, just the ones made before Peter Brocks split with Holden. If you want I will run a list of all the "brock" cars for the wish list and submit it for discussion (if its wrong!)👍

^ As you blab away, I added couple of cars that you stated and provided with links.

-> Why so angsty? :confused:

^ It did! Although it was a long essay, I see clearly now:

Before '90s

Why so angsty? You kiddin me, right??????????
The angry tone of my last post comes from more than 3 months worth of lobbying (usually done late at night @ 12-1 am at the expense of sleep) dateing back to October regarding this matter........was I wrong in the end????? No. If you look at the second quote made by you to the "holden nd 4 spd", you basiclly put his incorrect wishes on the log ASAP, no questions asked and within a day!
Now put yourself in my shoes....35 year old car nut that has more than 10gig (31000 photos) of car pictures and brochers gleaned from various sites over the years, plus currently owns and has a circle of friends and family that own aussie muscle and other cars.....and tell me you wouldnt be a little bit irrate that your expertese is being ignored.

I mean, I really should'nt give a toss about this list when people make mistakes about requests, but I enjoy learning about cars and hope that other cars I'm seeing on the list are correct too.

Sometimes I feel my input is just a waste of breath.........so just believe me when it comes to aussie stuff......after all I do know my **** gentleman :sly:

Close. Pretty close TVB. 👍 This is how it goes:
Before 1987
HDT vs Ford - There was no FPV or Tickford, some aftermarket places did specials but no factory performance effort since the Cobra's of the 1970's.

1987-1991
HSV vs HDT vs Ford - HDT split from Holden, HSV was born. Ford was concentrating on family runabouts.

1992-2002
HSV vs Tickford - HSV was now nearing the end of the VP series and Ford had Tickford develop the XR8 for the EB. This re-ignited the Ford v Holden performance fight. During this period, some anniversary Ford GT's were released but were pretty tame.

2003-Present
HSV vs FPV - Tickford developed into FPV and the first cars released were the FPV GT and the F6 Typhoon. ;)

unv412. I didn't say I liked Yellow cars, not me. Plus in your list I saw one outstanding glitch. While I agree with what you said about the Kingswood with the SS being different to an SL, etc., the main thing is that the SS DID come out as not only the 253ci (4.2L), but the 308ci (5.0L) motor aswell in the HQ, they were both options, you took your pick of SS motor. ;) Later on, the 308 was the standard motor in what became the HZ GTS.

TVB, don't get the wrong impression of Aussie cars. They're like us, brutish, sometimes unrefined and very very loud.

As far as the whole "If you want to do it your way, please repost your list on how you want it done here in your own terms so me and the others can judge it Aussie car by Aussie car" thing .....Im just here to help out with research and corrections, otherwise if i submit all the ausie stuff it would be all over in a couple of posts, and thats not the point is it?

Mafia boy has the whole HDT/Holden stuff summarized pretty well (again) and his take on the persona of Aussie cars is pretty spot on.....if not a little bit patronising to myself (:sly:) 👍

Mafia boy,
I must have mis interpreted the whole yellow VL thing:dopey:
On the HQ SS bit, options are a funny game when it comes to cars as most can be optioned to become something that they were not known as. With the SS (only 2800 biult) there is no listing in the brochure for an optional 308. Also please referance this site
http://s300.photobucket.com/albums/nn14/HQSS1972/
for everything HQ SS, or post #10 by the moderator of above site-
http://www.fastlane.com.au/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=19083&whichpage=1
explaining it all.

BTW, what magazine did you write for??

I'll PM you re:magazine stuff unv412, it's stuff I keep on the down low. ;)

I always think of Hubble's SS whenever I think HQ's, hence the 308 sticks in my head, and then confuse them with the 350ci GTS (which became a 308ci in the HZ GTS, I know this for sure, I think possibly the HJ too??).

But yeah, carry on everyone, I think we've all sorted out the GMH conumdrums now. :P

Ignore the past 2 posts between us TVB, unv and myself are working out the differences between the HQ Kingswood & it's performance cousins. All other stuff I've posted for you Re: HSV/HDT/Tickford/FPV, take note of. :)

I'll PM you re:magazine stuff unv412, it's stuff I keep on the down low. ;)

^ I'm pretty lost between you guys to be honest...

Mafia boy,
easy mistake if you remembered a mates (Hubble????) car (SS) having a particular engine from a while back. So yeah, all should be straight with the GMH stuff now.

TVB,
lol.....rest easy now brother, as mafia boy has said his last post on the whole HDT/Holden/HSV (and one of my original posts sometime back) should put you in great stead on all things Brock or Walkinshaw (or walky or walking stick or plastic pig or.....).

Still think its easy to decifer aussie cars rather than US cars - What the hell is a 1975 Cheverolet Malibu Classic Colonade Hardtop Coupe....and how is it different to the 1974 or 1976 model????????? :nervous: hahah

Given PD's partnership with Top Gear, I very much hope for the inclusion of the Peel P50. It would make for a very interesting race with the Daihatsu Midget! =)

I thought I'd hit reply when I first typed it up, whoops. :embarrassed: Here's what I think to this whole scenario.

HSV vs FPV - Tickford developed into FPV and the first cars released were the FPV GT and the F6 Typhoon. ;)

You're forgetting the new HDTs.;)

I'm not forgetting them Paulie, but the thing is that HDT has become like Phase Auto's was in the '80's, an aftermarket company in no way associated with the factory product, they are just lucky they own the trademarks to the HDT name. It's just like CSV. CSV have had the fastest Commodore's in Australia by far, but they aren't recognised because they are aftermarket. ;)

I think WP is eating CSV at the moment with their 460kw E-Series.:dopey: But I see what you were doing now, just covering what was considered factory product.:)

^ Um, excuse me...what is WP?

-> I have an issue of Motor magazine in my collection (from Aussieland), so I already know about CSV. ;)

true, and considering the fact that a lot of people bought the SV6 (hard to pick visually over the SS) there is an untapped market out there for some decent performance upgrades! Maybe they dont want to steal the V8 sales......twin turbo V6 has gotta out gun the V8?

-> Hello again, sorry again for the delay! Heres what I did this time:

- MANUFACTURER: Heffner Performance
- Make: Ford GT
- Model: 2008 Heffner Performance GT Camilo Pardo Edition

- Trim: none
- Type: Concept
- Body style: none

MANUFACTURER: Zenvo
- Make: Zenvo
- Model: 2009 Zenvo ST1
- Trim: none
- Type: Priduction (only 15 being made and sold)
- Body style: none

More info on the cars in the car model link.
^ Sorry but both of these cars are already on the list. GT Ace did his part on the Zenvo two pages ago. While I did the Heffner GT five pages ago.

-POBEDA-

Pobeda Hot Rod Prototype
^ There were actually two Pobeda concept cars. One was the concept show car that you provided, while I dug up for the sleeker design study version. These two cars are on the list. ;)

-VOLGA-

V12 Coupe

Two insane Russian hot rods based on the Mercedes S-Class and the BMW 8 series respectively

http://www.ladaparts.ru/hotrods.php
^ This unique Volga is already old news, they also came out a Volga V8. Take note that these Volga's is actually built by a Russian company named A:Level. A:Level also came out with two prototypes the Impression and The BIG. I've transferred the whole A:Level lineup from V5.0 with their links here. :)

^ Added yours, but I edit it a bit. ;)

there are no such things as:

FPV Falcon [FG] Pursuit sedan '09
FPV Falcon [FG] Super Persuit sedan '09

there are only Pursuit Utes.......... not sedans...... :)
^ Fixed.

also add:
-HOLDEN-
Holden Calais [VL] Turbo Sedan '88 (these are an iconic Australian cult car and are HUGELY popular)

http://img373.imageshack.us/img373/654/img06849vi.jpg
http://img78.photobucket.com/albums/v255/mikes_turbo_world_2/GAS747_2467_1024x768.jpg

^^^ some pics of Holden VL Calais Turbo

-HOLDEN-
Holden Commodore [VL] BT1 Turbo Sedan '88 (these have the same running gear as the Calais Turbo but are the ex-police cars and are highly sought after. these are now collectables as it is hard to find an original one in good condition)

http://home.iprimus.com.au/mikes_turbo_world/mywebpage/XCEPTR.htm
http://home.iprimus.com.au/mikes_turbo_world/mywebpage/HWYPSI.htm

^^^some pics of Holden VL BT1 Turbo
^ Man those are tasty pics of those Calais/Commy. But unfortunately, I need bone stock pics of these cars. Luckily I did some searching on my own. :)

-HSV-
HSV/Holden Commodore [VL] Group A Walkinshaw (limited to 750 cars. they won Bathurst and are one of the most collectable HSV/Holdens ever made)

http://home.iprimus.com.au/mikes_turbo_world/mywebpage/JETGPA.htm
^ Is there a difference between your car and my SS that I added few posts ago?

^ These lists really ate me up totally, it took my three two hours of ridiculous editing and formating and comparing pics between us three. I replaced some with either better pics or more concisive info on each of these much missed Oldsmobiles. :)

FORD MOTOR COMPANY AUSTRALIA
Ford Falcon [XA] GT '72
Ford Falcon [XA] GTHO Phase IV '72
Ford Falcon [XB] GT '74
Ford Falcon [XD] Interceptor '80
Ford Capri GT '71

Here are some more aussie cars to go in

Edit- Added Phase 4
^ I dug up each of these Fords but missed one. Is the Falcon Interceptor an XB or an XD? My google got confused. :scared:

The Phase 5 is an aftermarket job but based on the XD.....doing some searching on the net has given me more answers. Here's a pic anyway, it's small but it's all I could find.

=Pic=

And the following info I found off a Ford forum:

Remember boys, they said the Phase 4 didn't exist and we definitely know from history that 4 Phase IV's were made and snuck out of the factory before the big wigs pulled the pin on the program and around 200+ Phase 4 motors were built and put into normal XA GT's (the RPO83 option).

Alan Moffat did his specials aswell, I know he kept doing his own hi-po versions after Ford officially called it quits, even as recently as the EB series Falcons he had a supercharged V8 GT-HO even though they aren't official Ford GTHO's.
^ I added the Phase IV as a prototype, not a production car. While the so called 'Phase V' I designated it under -PHASE AUTO- not Ford. :)

^ Added, I also didn't know that the '77 V8 Vantage was the first of the three V8 Vantage in Aston's history.

Before 1987
HDT vs Ford - There was no FPV or Tickford, some aftermarket places did specials but no factory performance effort since the Cobra's of the 1970's.

2003-Present

^ I will take note on that thanks! ;)👍

Given PD's partnership with Top Gear, I very much hope for the inclusion of the Peel P50. It would make for a very interesting race with the Daihatsu Midget! =)
^ Either Midgets (the original and the II) would be too fast for the P50, maybe the Chrysler GEM would be a better bet. :)

^ The Biante was already added few posts ago, oh well I added a link along with it. :)

^ Interesting little speedsters, I would mistake them as a race-modified (aka. [R]) BMW Insetta. :dopey:

-PEEL ENGINEERING COMPANY-
Peel P50 '63 http://www.peel.hu/peel-p50.html
Peel Trident '65 http://www.peel.hu/peel-trident.html
^ Along with these two microbes, I carried over other notable Peels from V.5.0 with links on them. ;)

Walkinshaw Perfomance.
^ I will look onto that after I replied here. ;)

-> I added mostly headliners tonight, namely; a teardrop-shape 100mpg coupe; some Bimmer roadsters; a small Chevy truck with a V8; a transferred DiMora from V5.0; a new Vulca S; the newest Ginetta's; a JDM-spec Insight; some Innotechs; a street-legal Gallardo Strada; a power Rover coupe; a cool name for a micro sedan; a Toyota that inspired the Aztek; and a Veedub powered by a V8.

My Log
Turbo-> Both cars are added already:
I added the Heffner, GT Ace added the Zenvo

-HSV-
HSV/Holden Commodore [VL] Group A Walkinshaw (limited to 750 cars. they won Bathurst and are one of the most collectable HSV/Holdens ever made)

http://home.iprimus.com.au/mikes_tur...age/JETGPA.htm
^ Is there a difference between your car and my SS that I added few posts ago?

Huge difference TVB. The SS Group A was the HDT edition, the Walkinshaw is the HSV edition, as I said previously it was affecionately known as the "plastic pig" due to the enormous aero package fitted to the Commodore.

Here's a pic of the VL Walkinshaw.
walky%202%20001.jpg

Then compare it to the Brock SS Group A. Here they are side by side.

WalkinshawBrock180.jpg

Big, BIG difference. :D It's like an SS Group A on steroids if you catch my drift. ;)

TVB
^ I dug up each of these Fords but missed one. Is the Falcon Interceptor an XB or an XD? My google got confused. :scared:

The Interceptor is actually an XB. It's the Mad Max car, a 1 off special. Also attached in this link is info on the MFP Falcons that chased the interceptor in Mad Max.

Link to Interceptor Falcon.

TVB
^ I added the Phase IV as a prototype, not a production car. While the so called 'Phase V' I designated it under -PHASE AUTO- not Ford. :)
I'd recommend a different car to go in it's place as it's a proper factory effort my friend. ;) Go for the Ford Falcon [XE] ESP '82 {351ci}. Here's a pic of it.

1296_1.jpg

Anything else, don't hesitate to ask. I've always got unv and Paulie watching for any mistakes I may make on Aussie motoring history. :sly:

TVB, are we doing cop cars for this list???
Also , I think Woggster means the red SS Group A (HDT) belongs under Holden.....where as the silver SS Group A belongs under HSV. Hense the whole discusion about the Holden/HDT/HSV differances finally get put to great effect ! lol

PS. My head hurts!

Time for Plymouths, minus pictures, since the work I do finding pictures for them all doesn't seem to be appreciated enough.
^ What do you mean? Your pics are a big help for my research, it is just that some of them (I mean very few) are not up to standards if you know what I mean. Don't get so down buddy. Lets help each other instead. ;)

^ In some ways, yes. But it has to fit certain criteria, like it has to be unmarked, but unique in a way compared to a stock production versions. :)

More requests. I won't provide pictures however, so sorry I can't.
^ No problem, I'll just dig them for you. ;)

true, and considering the fact that a lot of people bought the SV6 (hard to pick visually over the SS) there is an untapped market out there for some decent performance upgrades! Maybe they dont want to steal the V8 sales......twin turbo V6 has gotta out gun the V8?

Yes, a twin turbo Alloytec would outgun the V8s probably, but WP shouldn't care about that stuff....... As you said it's an untapped market, they could be the only ones that'd be doing such a package.

Walkinshaw VL is a love or hate car. It performed really well though. In fact, they were saying in a magzine article not long ago that if you gave it some modernised wider tyres, bigger brakes and a bit more powerful it'd still be right there with some of the best sedans around. That's what they said anyway.

Hehe sorry about the outburst, I was a bit grumpy because I got a bad grade in school! :P I know what you mean by not up to standards, a few are pretty bad from time to time. It's just some of the ones I posted seemed fine and I didn't see a reason for a different picture.

But anyways, I guess I could go back and add pictures! :D

Sorry i dont know much of anything about this car other that it was a f1 race car. Let me know if you find out the make manufacture/other info. Thanks!

I didn't know BRM's were a red X?? :P

Here's a better image link. ;)

hms-060a.jpg

As to the cop car scenario, the VL BT1 is a unique designation T.V.B., but the problem is that it looks like every other VL turbo on the road, the only distinctive difference is the BT1 model code put onto the body & options section.

They still packed the 150Kw RB30ET, but rumours surfaced that they were closer to the 170-180Kw mark to make sure Walkinshaw's didn't get away. ;)

-> Hello everyone, sorry for the agonizing delay. There are so many news that came out since my last post. Here I go:

How 'bout a Caparo?

^ I transfered most of the Caparo's from version 5.0 (which consists a total of 6 models). But yours is covered ;)

VB @ page 12
^ Ok, first of all; this is a general type of car with no specific engine output and/or the year of this vehicle. As my curious monkey knocks on my dead spot known as the brain; there are so many variations of this vehicle that will make the C6 Corvette look like peanuts! :scared:
