Wow... that's a nice Bulova you have there @photonrider 👍 I couldn't see that pic earlier today (was @ the office, internet filter is too strong)...
And... is that a Vector W8????
Can I have your watch, skipper?
Seriously though, I can look at that last watch all day long. I'm glad you bought it, so I can at least enjoy the picture of it.
On something that doesn't fire large caliber? At eight bells, bosun, eight bells.

Worth every penny, my friend. Sorry I drooled again on your picture.
Swatch are doing some interesting things with silicon components - they have an automatic chronograph out using a movement based on the venerable 7750 but made entirely of silicon. On one hand it makes it lighter and cheaper, but comes at the price of being unserviceable in the future (more an issue for the chrono then your piece ).My latest addition.
So you bought an almost invisible (S)watch. I like them very much.View attachment 156099
My latest addition. They say there are 15,000 combinations of colours for the mechanism and I had a choice of eight in the Cardiff store. The emerald green really stood out.
Curious what people think about Certina watches? Was thinking about picking up a Certina DS Podium GMT in the Carbon banded, black faced scheme. I think it would go well with my current collection as a nice sporty, but classy, alternative to my Omega Speedmaster Racing.
They're the official watch of the WRC aren't they? I feel like I've looked into a few before but couldn't find a good place to buy them in the US.
No it's notOn the left is a Tissot Automatic Chronograph..
Haha, thanks... Post edited. I guess that's a bit like calling a 'Toyota Corolla' a 'Toyota Automatic' just because it has an Automatic transmission. My mistake. No it's not
It's a Tissot Courtier Chronograph .
I did some reading it is a Swissasian outfit (i.e. claiming Swiss heritage, manufacturer in Asia with locally sourced components). And just curious, anybody knows if the Maserati watches are any good???

My bad, that one went right over my head. 👍Eight Bells can mean : "When I'm dead", a6m5 . . . but it's also interesting that it is a way to tell the time:
One bell . 0:30 4:30 8:30 12:30 16:30 18:30† 20:30
Two bells .. 1:00 5:00 9:00 13:00 17:00 19:00† 21:00
Three bells .. . 1:30 5:30 9:30 13:30 17:30 19:30† 21:30
Four bells .. .. 2:00 6:00 10:00 14:00 18:00 22:00
Five bells .. .. . 2:30 6:30 10:30 14:30 18:30 22:30
Six bells .. .. .. 3:00 7:00 11:00 15:00 19:00 23:00
Seven bells .. .. .. . 3:30 7:30 11:30 15:30 19:30 23:30
Eight bells .. .. .. .. 4:00 8:00 12:00‡ 16:00 20:00 0:00

First of all, happy congratulations on your 50th birthday. Seriously though, sound like a very exciting hunt you got going here. I think we all do remember the leather strap ordeal....... Best of luck with this one Mike, and keep us updated!Brief update on the watch situation...
So I did ok with my financial situation at work this past financial year end, and with a fairly significant personal milestone coming up I have been looking for hours and hours for the right watch to mark it all out. I know exactly what I am looking for, I just can't find it at my price point - which is disappointing as it's not like I am scrounging on the budget.
Actually I lie, I did find two examples of the one watch I have been looking at for probably 2 years, but it's being sold by an online seller of mixed repute, so I am not sure I want it that badly. As it's a limited edition, they are hard to come by .
The other model I found comes with a crocodile strap and after last year's fiasco, I'll not be trying avenue again if I can help it.
So the search continues.
It is one of the options rolling around (👍), but they command silly money for little rational reason (👎).
Naw, its law, specifically CITES - the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species - which prohibit the import/ export of reptilian products unless an import/export permit is obtained before importation occurs. The seller needs to obtain an export permit and the buyer an import permit. However online retailers simply say "any customs costs or documentation is the responsibility of the buyer", which is a cheap way out of it.ShaunDo you think the guy at customs was having a bad day in that instance otherwise how to the straps get through officially?
Yep...with a 30-50% markup .ShaunCan you buy a Tag with that strap from a store here?

It looks good, but the build quality is a bit ropey. The tick is horrendously loud, even if I place it on the other side of the room it will keep me up at night. Plus something has come loose inside, and rattles every time I move.
Aesthetics, great. Build quality not so. Not what you would expect from a brand like Tommy Hilfiger.
My bad, that one went right over my head. 👍
Woot..
It's my Citizen minicollection causing me pain at the moment.
