The death toll is now at 132 with probably more to come. Hundreds of cattle dead, too. This break is too little too late for some.

It's odd how the weather effects you; everybody in my family are complaining of sore, stiff muscles and a pounding heart beat. I'm suffering from the same thing, tool. I talked to my mom about my aunt from Holland coming over, and she feels the same way. Talked with my sister, and she's feeling the same. Odd, indeed.

The weather is cool. About 92 degrees, and probably wont go over 95. The second day it wont reach at least 100 degrees which it did for three straight weeks.
See if it got that hot here and the power was going out and I couldn't use the A/C I would just have to go out of town for a bit or find somewhere to stay with A/C. I have a heart condition and my doctors always remind me to avoid that kind of thing.

You should move to the northwest, then. We have no humidity, and the temperature rarely goes above 90 degrees (last week excepted). Our power only goes out in winter windstorms, in which case your house will be freezing cold, not boiling hot :sly:

Speaking of weather, what a difference in the last few days. On Monday, it was 95. Today, it's cloudy and a rather comfortable 62 degrees. They call these marine breezes our "natural air conditioning" :D

I'm good here in Kentucky. I've liked the idea of the northwest but my wife would never move that far.

KY has snow in the winter and heat in the summer. As we like to say, it's either too hot or too cold. Fortunately we have enough power facilities in the state to last us for a long while without rolling blackouts and the like. My A/C at home is set to 68 right now and the house never gets above 75.

A hot summer is one that has a lot of days in the 90s. I can probably count on one hand the times I have seen 100+ days in my 27 years.

The news just stated over 140 dead, and over 25,000 cattle dead.

I'm surprised it took this long to report the deaths.

I have a medical condition that prevents me from going to hot places. Yet, during this heat wave, the AC was on full blast and the temperature in the house was still in the mid to high 80's. Thank those 110 degree days. Soaking in the pool for a few hours, and then sitting in front of a fan does wonders.

Right now (1 am) it is 66 degrees, 34 mph wind and raining like crazy. I guess that means I'll have to mow the yard soon.

Cool nights are such a great relief, man. It was hot (97) today and high humidity, but the nights are cool. It gives the house to cool down and lets the air conditioner catch up. We didn't have cool nights before and it was horrible.

Right now, I have the AC on low and it's 66 in here. I have light blanket on me. It will get hot during the day since the weather is still in the mid to upper 90s and it feels hotter since the humidity is still high, but it's more tolerable thanks to the cool nights.

My next 2 days are right at 100 degrees and a t-storm so the humidity will be up again (93% right now). I need to get my son to the park to play, but by 9am when we are done with breakfast and ready to go, it is around 80 degrees with 80% humidity. I didn't even bother leaving the house. We went downstairs and played for a few hours instead. I think a trip to the grocery store is in order for our morning outing.

I’d kill for a few hot days. Although my southern Aussie winter is pretty tame, the drudgery and grey is beginning to get a little depressing. If only we could exchange climates for a day, eh? Perhaps a weekend in Darwin or Brisbane is in order.💡

Yeah, it is supposed to reach 100 on Monday. I can't wait until Wednesday rolls around when it is supposed to drop into the 70's. We are supposed to get t-storms (and humidity) every day too.

It was....chilly here. I couldn't stand the window being open all the way - had to close it. Maybe today's high was 24 or below.
Here too... high was like in the low 70s. Its LA! Freaking LA in the summer! WHY is it in the 70s? And it was all grey and depressing

Same here. I turned off the AC yesterday evening, and haven't turned it on since then. It was a much needed break I'm sure.

Today never reached 80. What a delight! It's cold right now, in the house. I need a blanket. Feels sooooo good, too. 👍

It's still humid, though. That, I don't like. When the heat goes back up, it's going to be sticky hot thanks to the heat index the humidity brings.

As someone who enjoys hot weather, I'm ashamed to admit it, but same here. :D

I can't believe it was hot in June and July, but it's getting colder, right before August!

The day started off with...storms. It was around 4 or 5am, couldn't tell the exact time because I didn't look in the clock.

It was raining like the world is going to end tomorrow, and I heard thunders every 2 minutes. I enjoyed the sound of the thunder but I hoped that it wouldn't land anywhere near my house

Then it went to overcast....then it rained heavily again for maybe 20 minutes...and the rest of the day was nice. Sunny with clouds.

exact same. Isnt this kind of... UNUSUAL weather for SoCal?

Holy hell.

I live in Illinois, in Washington. Which is near Peoria.

About an hour ago, the temperature was 102 F, with a Heat Index of about 115.

Now, it's 97 with a heat index of 111. It's been like this for 3 days now, and it SUCKS. Mostly, because we have no AC. And since we have hot water heating and a 2 story house with a walk up attic, it'd cost around $15,000-$22,000 to get AC because we'd need the ducts too.

Hell, it's 90 degrees in my house! I walked into my friend's house set at a cool 66 degrees and I almost pissed myself because it was so cold. This is the worst summer in the 5 years we've lived up here as far as HOT goes. I just wish the humidity would go down.

Can you get a window unit? Those are a few hundred at most and they will at least cool a couple of rooms. I don't have central air but have a window unit in my living room and bedroom.

Then once all this heat dies down you can take it back out and store it.

It is HOT today.. Yesterday was even hotter though. Bad thing is My band played an outside show with no shade whatsoever. it was bad.

but today:

Yesterday: Sun, sun, sun - new record of 102.
Today: Mostly sunny - 89. Not bad.
Tomorrow: Mostly sunny - 79. Niiiiiiiiice.
At least we are going the right direction. Following that pattern, in a few days I'll need to drag out the boots, jacket, gloves, ice scraper, shovel...

I don't mean to rub it in, but...

Personally, I'd like to see it a couple degrees higher, but I guess I'll make do :)

118F Heat index today, low tonight of 85... Gonne reach 100 tomorrow with almost 120F heat index.... ouch.

Looks like the Mid-West is so suffering the same weather we went through last week.

It was 110 with very high humidity, so I have no idea what the "heat index" was. The local weather hardly mentioned the "heat index."

This same weather, I'm guessing, will be hitting the East coast next week? Better prepare for it.

But, we now have cold weather, so it's on its way.

Today, I went shooting for the first time in a long while. Just in case I wanted to shoot a lot, I brought 3,000 rounds of ammo, 20 bowling pins, four one gallon milk jugs, two 5 gallon buckets, two one gallon buckets and two 25 packs of targets. Everything was gone and the bowling pins and buckets were too shot-up to take back. I've felt so high in my entire life then I do right now, though my buzz is fading.

Yes, but my dad doesn't want to. Mostly because he's ****ing retarded and made some stupid bet that we wouldn't have any form of AC for 5 years in the new house. Well, this is the 5th year.

Of course, I should figure up how much electricity all the fans we have running are using, and compare it to a 110 window unit since that's part of his argument.

We have at LEAST 9 fans going. Oh well. Oh yeah, I dunno the official high, but the highest I saw it was like 107. The highest heat index I saw was like 122 I think. That, or 118.

My friend's dad was like this. I have known him now for 22 years (since kindergarten) and they still don't have any A/C of any kind. Everytime they think they will get it and save up they decide to go to Florida instead. They have a pool out back and just spend all day in the summer sitting in the pool.

I see you aren't old enough to drive yourself, so I would find someway to get to a mall, public pool, movie theater, friends house, anything with air conditioning that you can hang out at all day. Like when your dad goes to work have him drop you off somewhere.

That's the best I can suggest. You could fake heat exhaustion to scare him into getting A/C. :mischievous:

Me and my mom and sister get heat exhaustion all the time. I've passed out from it.

I usually just hang out in the pool out back, but as hot as it's been lately, it's like bath water...

Oh well, I went and got some new parts for my bike so I'll just put up with the heat and drink plenty of Gatorade.

This doesn't change much over the course of every summer so we are somewhat 'used' to high temperatures. I, however, tend to shun the outdoors more during high heat as I've gotten older.
