Have you swam in the bay below Diamond Head? I stayed with a friend that was in the marines back in the 90's. It's like swimming in a very large aquarium. He lived in an apartment that was right below the Crouching Lion on the back side of the Island, it would be a nice hike, I didn't do it as it is almost straight up but I bet it would be a great view.

We did not. Just walked from our hotel up to Diamond Head and back. Give or take about 12 miles round trip and 760 feet of elevation change. We're exhausted.

If you have the time a bus ride around the Island is well worth it. One of the funniest things I saw while there was a cop driving on the freeway with a paper map unfolded all over the windshield trying to find something, remember this was around 1988.
