I appreciate your insight and opinion. I believe having an automatic attached to an American V8 is almost "classic". I can remember my dad talking about racing scene back in the 60's and plenty of those were autos. BTW, just buy a C5 with me and get it over with!! Popup headlights FTMFW!!!
That is a good point & still is today with drag racers in a way.

As for the 'Vette, I've only been reading up on the Z06s, so I don't know what to really pay attention to with the base cars as they will have undoubtedly, gone through much more use than the Z. At this point anyway, I want to settle with something I know I want & as far as Corvettes go, it's a C5 Z06.
Like you alluded to I'm not really big on extreme power and speed. Just some noise and speed while in some comfort. You should drive a C5 auto, it really isn't that bad. Just forget about Z06's when driving it.

That and they will be monstrously faster than my Focus.
I do remember the one I drove a couple years back still being a sound car. But, that was before I decided that my absolute next car must be something I can build up & throw at least 450whp at. And as capable as that still is with a C5 Auto, the manuals will undoubtedly be a better starting point for what I want. At this time, I just want something stupid fast to play with. :dopey:

That is gorgeous, and yellow is my first choice on paint. However, notice the price. That low of mileage will inflate the price over my $17,000 budget when the time comes. Examples with 40-70k miles are in my price range.

I dindnt see your price range , im sorry

Personally, out of the list I would go with the Subie. I brought a used one for my fiance last year and they fit nicely into the price range.

Somehow... I've never felt bad about driving big engines with automatics. Obviously... the manuals are faster, but there's a lot of fun in doing a burnout like a boss, with your right hand on the wheel and your left elbow hooked over the windowsill... getting caked in burnt rubber...

Can't you still do burnouts like that with a manual? Imean, you only put it on first and use your feet from there

2001-2005 Honda S2000 - Would not get white or yellow and it needs to have less than 80k miles. The top needs to be in immaculate shape!

If you can do anything replacing a top is very easy. What I mean by this is if the price is right buy a top and install it or get it installed.
