Well these consoles are 6 months old. I agree, there is nothing in the catalogue really making me want to buy a One right now but then again there isn't much on the PS4 side either, hence why I've bought neither yet. In a year down the line though, who knows? When I first bough a 360 in 2007 the game library for me was much better than the then PS3 library, but now I think the latter overall has more games for me.
Personally I got a PS4 at release date and I didn't had any use for it until Outlast came out, KZ:SF was (as you would expect KZ3 +1) and BF4 is something I got on PC, My downstairs friend got the X1 last month, to play Ghosts and they were ultimately underwhelmed by it, then they played Dead Rising 3 (another thing with a +1 at the end) only to find that it was a worse version of Dead Rising 2, only to find ourselves to play Titanfall which is great.
Since then we've been playing at my place because BF4 is much better on PC (even if still broken), Outlast because it was worth a few jumpscares and do take advantage of some of the conveniences of the PS4 (as is quiet enough to don't interrupt with the suspense, unlike the 6 fans running on my computer).
All of this get me to think that there is no much point, I have mentioned to them Halo 5 only to find that they are more hyped by Watch Dogs and Wolfestein, and they don't really care anymore, their friend on XBL thinking the same thing as they see stuff like BF4 running on PC and want that instead.
I'm not saying that Xbox will end, but the kinect flopped with Kinect 1, they forced kinect 2 only to find it more of a deal breaker for their consumer base, and after that they got nothing. PC is pushing it with Oculus, PS is securing themselves with Project Morpheus that has more potential, and then there is the Xbox which just realized that Kinect was stupid and they are backtracking that, while everyone else is going forward.
Xbox was designed and build around the Kinect, having MS not considering the fact that it has no use for their consumer base, it's UI and part of it's integrity is based on the Kinect, removing it and reselling it is essentially going backwards, not doing anything else with it is becoming ... obsolete.
That has always been the biggest myth of Xbox Live and one they have used to lure people in since 2002! The amount of times I have heard people say they prefer Xbox Live because the online is better because its dedicated over the years is astonishing. Dedicated servers are a game specific thing!
Nearly all Xbox 360 games were P2P only a handful were dedicated and some PS3 games had dedicated servers as well so it was not like an exclusive thing. Frankly it being practically identical to a free service was a total joke IMO but people love paying for things they can't see or understand which is why Sony has also now jumped on the bandwagon.
Not to mention matches on 360 with hackers in WaW and CO: MW2, hacking their way by jumping from one side of the map to the other, taking the flags with time boosters on domination and doing ceiling glitching to practically fly.
So much for dedicated servers.
