How naive to think Xbox might no longer be relevant.
Naive how?

People who used to be xbox fans or whatever don't care anymore, people into gaming around me doesn't care anymore (mind you people in the country where I live had only 360s because they were more appealing and more convenient), and people around my circles aren't paying too much attention to it.

For me is better this way, people care more about games than systems, and that's a better trend that having angry xbox wasps fanboys saying crazy like Fable is the ultimate RPG, or that Halo is the latest innovation in FPSs and so on.

And I'm sure as hell the PS4 is outselling the X1 for that reason alone, right?

I didn't say alone, but it's still a big factor in it for most people that aren't overly biased to one or the other. Obviously being cheaper helps a lot, hence the 360 outselling the PS3 until the prices became more comparable. Then it was down to the games catalogue.

Funny thing is, for those who really want a cheaper Xbox One, the deals lately have worked out to $399 if you sell the game or live code. Then you sell the Kinect Camera for $150, you've got yourself a $250 XONE. Now you pay $399.:)

A game catalogue to a point of stagnation:

GT6, Halo 4, Uncharted 3, GoW 3 and GoW 3, FM5, Beyond: Two Souls (AKA Heavy Rain 2, AKA Indigo Prophecy 3), example of game cataloguing, pretty much the same thing over and over again.

And what is coming up; Uncharted 4 and Halo 5. People have grown to be less biased simply because what a console exclusive actually is, you see less people caring for Halo 4 because of how weary they got with Halo Reach, you see less people caring about Uncharted 3 after how weary they got with Uncharted 2 and so on.

They will ultimately mean nothing, Titanfall is a good reason for owning an X1 except for the fact that is already on PC. Watch Dogs in a good reason to own a PS4 with the small problem that it ultimately runs better on PC. And so on and so forth, these are the games that sell and are more relevant, and surprisingly all of them have a PC counterpart.

So it gets down to what is better for what, and there is when I see no point to the X1, much like everyone else around me. Why would you want an X1 when you can get a PC to play P-Cars in the near future and mod it, why would you want a Watch Dogs on X1 since it runs better on PS4 and it certainly does on PC, heck why would you even want a X1 to play COD when most of your friends got a PS4 to play in it.

I can see how convenient a system like a PS4 can be (vita remote play and Morpheus), vs how stagnating a Xbox system is becoming (copy the PS4 business strategy because how 🤬 got backtracked to them and how it fell apart for them). Nintendo doing it's own thing as always and PC being an ascending trend like it has been for the last 5 years.

Well these consoles are 6 months old. I agree, there is nothing in the catalogue really making me want to buy a One right now but then again there isn't much on the PS4 side either, hence why I've bought neither yet. In a year down the line though, who knows? When I first bough a 360 in 2007 the game library for me was much better than the then PS3 library, but now I think the latter overall has more games for me.

The xbox does have that dedicated servers network. Do sony have something similar?

That has always been the biggest myth of Xbox Live and one they have used to lure people in since 2002! The amount of times I have heard people say they prefer Xbox Live because the online is better because its dedicated over the years is astonishing. Dedicated servers are a game specific thing!

Nearly all Xbox 360 games were P2P only a handful were dedicated and some PS3 games had dedicated servers as well so it was not like an exclusive thing. Frankly it being practically identical to a free service was a total joke IMO but people love paying for things they can't see or understand which is why Sony has also now jumped on the bandwagon.

So the Xbox doesn't have potentially fun exclusives coming up? Sunset Overdrive looks highly promising and if Horizon 2 changes tack from the first game's festival setting, it could be a big draw for people.

To say people are fed up of it just cause of those around you is not a big enough sample.

Personally I got a PS4 at release date and I didn't had any use for it until Outlast came out, KZ:SF was (as you would expect KZ3 +1) and BF4 is something I got on PC, My downstairs friend got the X1 last month, to play Ghosts and they were ultimately underwhelmed by it, then they played Dead Rising 3 (another thing with a +1 at the end) only to find that it was a worse version of Dead Rising 2, only to find ourselves to play Titanfall which is great.

Since then we've been playing at my place because BF4 is much better on PC (even if still broken), Outlast because it was worth a few jumpscares and do take advantage of some of the conveniences of the PS4 (as is quiet enough to don't interrupt with the suspense, unlike the 6 fans running on my computer).

All of this get me to think that there is no much point, I have mentioned to them Halo 5 only to find that they are more hyped by Watch Dogs and Wolfestein, and they don't really care anymore, their friend on XBL thinking the same thing as they see stuff like BF4 running on PC and want that instead.

I'm not saying that Xbox will end, but the kinect flopped with Kinect 1, they forced kinect 2 only to find it more of a deal breaker for their consumer base, and after that they got nothing. PC is pushing it with Oculus, PS is securing themselves with Project Morpheus that has more potential, and then there is the Xbox which just realized that Kinect was stupid and they are backtracking that, while everyone else is going forward.

Xbox was designed and build around the Kinect, having MS not considering the fact that it has no use for their consumer base, it's UI and part of it's integrity is based on the Kinect, removing it and reselling it is essentially going backwards, not doing anything else with it is becoming ... obsolete.

Not to mention matches on 360 with hackers in WaW and CO: MW2, hacking their way by jumping from one side of the map to the other, taking the flags with time boosters on domination and doing ceiling glitching to practically fly.

So much for dedicated servers.

I think dedicated servers is xbox one only with Azure. 360 was p2p mostly.

We'll have to see how many games get chance to utilize it

Why then are their so many voting, on this primarily PS forum, to get pCARS on the PS4 then (Project CARS | Which version do you plan to get?). It's because gamers like their consoles. I think the PC will be the better platform for pCARS but it will sell decent on the consoles.

If things don't go well I can even see Microsoft releasing a new high spec console very much geared towards games.

To do this so soon would be suicide for the Xbox brand. Remember what happened to the Saturn after some sega exec said "it's not our future"? It also had a negative effect on dreamcast sales, and we all know what happened there.

Also keep in mind the X1 has not been released in these countries yet but will by the end of the year.

Again, this will not have as much of an effect on sales as you think it will. Most 360 sales came from North America and the uk. Two key markets where they outsold Sony. Fast forward a gen and they're being outsold in both markets. As for the countries it will release in this year, they were deemed "tier 2 countries" by Microsoft due to low sales the previous gen. Do you honestly think they'll make much of a difference? Especially when you consider that the Xbox one has been available in those countries for months? Look at places like Sweden and Finland, where import units have been gathering dust for months in retail stores.

Hell, I live in one of those countries and I could walk out and buy an xbone in November. I visited the store two weeks ago and they still had day one editions sitting there discounted. It wasn't in some random obscure shop in the middle of nowhere either. It was in Akihabara.

The xbox does have that dedicated servers network. Do sony have something similar?

So sick of peer to peer and all the hackers.

As has already been stated, some games on playstation use dedicated servers. What hasn't been stated is the fact that only forza 5 and titanfall currently use dedicated servers on the xbone. Hardly what was promised.

Nope. Prior to titanfall, only forza used dedicated servers.

Edit: to clarify, I'm talking about dedicated servers from the azure network only.

Fans' Anger As Xbox One Drops Kinect Feature
Microsoft announces it will offer a cut-price Xbox One without its flagship Kinect feature from next month amid flagging sales.

Xbox One has lagged behind the Playstation 4

Early adopters of Microsoft's Xbox One have reacted angrily after the firm slashed the price of the console by stripping out a major feature.
Sales of the device are flagging in comparison to the PlayStation 4, partly due to the console’s higher price tag.

Microsoft had always justified the cost by pointing to the Kinect 2.0 motion sensor device, which until recently it called "integral to the Xbox One experience".
But soon it will offer a stripped-down version of the original Xbox One without the Kinect functionality. A version including the Kinect feature will still be available.
However, some fans fear that developers will no longer prioritise making use of the motion sensor features.

On the Xbox One forum on Reddit, one gamer said: "This is a slap in the face to early Kinect 2.0 adopters who were sold on the fact that every Xbox One owner would have one."
Another said: "So the Xbox One is on an equal footing in terms of price with the PS4 now, but with weaker hardware and nothing to set itself apart? How is this a good idea?"
One added: "They said over and over that there would never be one without the Kinect. I feel pretty betrayed."

The Kinect-less version of Xbox One will be available around the world from June 9.
In the UK the price will fall from £399 to £350, having originally launched with a price tag of £430.

Sales have lagged behind Sony's PS4, which had sold seven million units by mid-April, at least two million units ahead of the Xbox One.
Microsoft has also announced it will make it possible to watch Netflix and YouTube via the console without the need for a paid Xbox Live account.

Pretty much my thoughts exactly. Kinect was the only unique selling point for the one and made up for the inferior hardware but now your simply getting nothing better, just something worse for the same price. I bet no major games other than childrens ones will use Kinect again after this because many people wont have one.

Sega harmed their brand with the Mega CD and 32X with customers, not some exec quote, and also they did this when Sony turned console gaming on its head with the Playstation. MGS, Final Fantasy, Resident Evil Wipeout, gran turismo colin mcrae the cool games just kept coming, Saturn had nothing to compete. PS2 got all the cool games again. Dreamcast did have some niche games but you can't compete with the GTA phenomenon.

Microsoft with the 360 made sure all devs didn't leave out the system as they did with the original Xbox. They are in a better position than Sega to start again.

I think a much cheaper Xbox One and games like Gears with pretty graphics, sunset overdrive new Halo can win back gamers at least in the US and UK but its hard to gauge how much damage was done in the lead up to the release and also the knowledge its quite a bit weaker. The loss of Kinect might even seal the fate that the vision was totally wrong, like an admitance and the console has even more stigma its going to fail in the future

They need to price it lower than PS4.

With this price drop and the 25 new markets in September, Xbox One will sell more than PS4.

The price drop may help sales but the new markets likely won't make much of a difference at all. As said before, Microsoft's biggest market for the 360 was North America and the PlayStation 4 has been outselling the Xbox One since release in all the regions, even North America. The 25 new markets the Xbox One will release in were determined to be "tier 2" markets by Microsoft due to poor 360 sales and I don't imagine their new system will do all that well there either.

Talking about US sales

April 2014
Xbox One 115k
PS4 200k

Titanfall didn't boost the Xbox One numbers much if at all this month, depsite all the hype. The 360 version is selling well despite being almost a secret release a month later.

You can see why MS have made a Kinect-less SKU. I think E3 will be important to change the image of Xbox One. I would also price it at $299.

It will take quite a bit for the x1 to catch up to the PS4. I do think by the end of the year it will be closer, but right now the PS4 is highly outselling the X1. But again, it is also selling in WAY more countries.
http://www.vgchartz.com/

Current sales
X1-4.6 million
PS4-7.6 million

Xbone will not sell in Asian, other regions. Where it is suppose to sell even there it is stacked up to retailers. Titanfall was hyped too and it did not help. I knew Forza5 would fail because it has so less tracks and no variable weather, time of day. Not even night racing for new console. If they had good games Xbone would have some advantage with higher price.

Also you were the one who said Xbone would sell like crazy. lol. Seriously now, just give up.

The Xbox One is selling pretty damn good. It isn't selling as well as the PS4 but it is one of the fastest selling systems of all time.

CAMAROBOY69 said before the release of consoles that Xboone will easily sells more than PS4. He was so confident that it was funny. Also Microsoft would not have dropped Kinect so early. Barely 10 months old. If they were so happy about it.
