Looks like this could be the confirmation that it will be indeed be called the Xbox Infinity. Much better than 720 or Durango.

Looks to me like games arent that big of a priority anymore based on that ad. We'll know for sure May 21

It was somewhere in this thread, I'm too tired to find it at the moment, but it was in a summmarised highlight of a link.

EDIT: find more here

Maybe that's their subtle way of saying "It only does everything".

Sony still highlighted games in those commercials. Microsoft appears to be distancing themselves from the "core gamer" in order to attract the casual market. They dont want to be seen as a "game console" anymore, but rather as an entertainment machine.

Its quotes like this that worry me

Xbox isnÂ’t just for hardcore gamers anymore.
...
Xbox is not just about games anymore.

Games aren't entertainment?

What are they then? Brainwashing software?

If you say so

I heard the internet is free. If GT6 is bad, I'm getting the new Xbox for sure. :D

If your talking about xbox live why would they stop charging for it?

They would make a fortune on subscription fees.

So, if what I'm getting from this is right, the consoles stand like this :

Straight up Casual - Nintendo
Semi-Casual/Entertainment - Microsoft
Social/Hardcore - Sony

Sound 'bout right?

Go Sony!

To compete with Sony? If Sony do a good job with the psn/sen, it might be harder to justify the cost.

I dont see that happening they would lose to much money.

Isn't that exactly what Sony did when launching the PS3 and pushing Bluray rather than gaming? I mean I got 6 free BDs when I bought my PS3, and 1 was included in the PS3 box! Not a game, a MOVIE...
I also recall Sony's marketing of it doing everything. And we got a game console that does more than gaming, with tons of great games while adding entertainment ideas.

Let's not preach doom n gloom anti MS motives now. MS themselves haven't even made a single announcement about their next console until this week, which is the announcement of an announcement.

Didn't really work out too well for Sony, either.

There is a stark difference from then to now with Blu-ray. There was a format war going on and not pushing it would have been a bad idea with HD-DVD launching. Sony pushed games just has much. But they had to sell both aspects, Blu-ray was a clear advantage and all competition pushes their advantages. Today is a different time, they(MS/Sony) can't focus on just games.

MS may be going too far with the rumored cable service and exclusive TV and included kinect, just more $$$$$$$...

Don't forget that at one generation or another Sony got into the music and movie industry. If 1 company is guilty already of being in the entertainment (non-gaming) industry, it is Sony. MS is rumored to be taking their approach into offering more non-gaming entertainment ventures.

Less than a month and we'll see what MS has to offer.

You should probably do some research on Sony Music and Sony Pictures and Sony Imagesoft and compare the timeline to PlayStation One's launch. Being in the industry is not the same as supporting it.

Serious question: Everyone freaking out about the current tagline for the Infinity... you do realize the 360 isn't just about gaming either, right?

In fact, the original Xbox wasn't explicitly just about gaming either. So...
