I hope they won't leave USB ports out of the design. If not it seems unlikely that my Fanatec wheel won't connect to the console. Guess we'll see.

The question becomes, how will they charge the controller? Batteries? That would be a massive step backward if they do go the AA route.

Massively late to the conversation but Orth's comments remind me of Criterion saying to fans of Burnout "Get a life - get broadband" at the release of Paradise and it didn't seem to hurt them any in the long term. Bet EA don't stand for this sort of consumer baiting from their development partners though. They prefer to do it via their products (just kidding).

The only reason why EA didn't get hurt was because of the Sports franchises and their exclusivity agreements. Similar to the way that Windows and MS income. It pads income, so smart***** like Orth can open mouth and insert foot at the expense of consumers.

Having to plug pads into the mains would certainly suck. More details, as ever, needed.

I'm a PS3 owner and will always be a Sony customer, but I'm very interested to see what the next Xbox is doing. I think Microsoft are leaving it a bit late though, it's over 2 months since Sony's announcement, they dominate the mindshare at the moment. All the next gen games being announced like AC4 and Battlefield 4 are being announced for PS4 but not the next Xbox, obviously because the console hasn't been revealed yet. But now everyone is linking the next gen multiplatform games to only the PS4, instead of both PS4 and next Xbox. Microsoft seems to want to announce next month and then ride momentum into E3 but I'm not sure if it will work, especially when I'm sure Sony has a bunch of exclusives to announce at their conference.

I don't think it matters that microsoft held out. 90% of console owners are super fanboys. Most will buy Sony or Microsoft based on loyalty alone.
I will base my buy on whatever my friends get which will probably be the next Xbox only because if how much better Xbox live is. We ha e to have party chat and the ps3 never did it.

What if the PS4 does have it?

Guess I'm in the 10% because I've owned both. Woo! But my Xbox stopped connecting online so I said 🤬.

I hope MS actually shows the console, unlike Sony.

Im thinking the major reason behind the 'delay' to announce the 720 is they were waiting for a final design so they could show the console.

They're showing it on TV (Spike TV, USA/Canada). Thats already a step better then what Sony did.

They are in competition with Sony so they will try to outdo Sony in not showing stuff.

Sony showed a controller so Microsoft will only show the light on the controller. :dopey::lol:

Why does it really matter? I'm much more concerned with the features of the console rather than what it will look like sitting under my television.

They can do better than that; they'll show the infrared rays Kinect 2.0 used to track stuff. Or better yet, a single one of those.

I don't like Kinect either. If they're not trying to push it with the software too much, it'll be nice to have, though. Still, it's somethign my GF would be more interested in than myself.

That is why I like what Sony have done with Playstation Move, they accepted that it wasn't for the Hardcore audience and thus don't spend much time on it at conferences and don't chuck it into every console bundle. Now I realize that Kinect is technically a better product than Move but still, enough with all the coverage of it.

Because I'm nosey and like to look at things. 👍

The rumour mill is that old gamepads will not be compatible. Only a rumour though. If true what implications for wheels?

Every wireless inbut device for the 360 (headset, controllers, wheels) has a specific chip in it, that is licenced by Microsoft. Very few thirdparties were able to get that licence. Fanatec was on of them.

The problem is that if they changed the way the wireless devices will connect to the next xbox or come up with a new chip, then we can be pretty sure that our wheels wont work. That is the reason why I have not upgraded yet from my Fanatec GT2 wheel.

It looks like the new controller wont have any new features like a share button, so there is still hope. But knowing Microsoft and their other products, I am pretty sure they wont support 360 peripherals. :guilty:

I bet that that's more because Move flopped on them, whereas MS is making a good wad of cash with Kinect than it is about Sony given a rat's behind about the hardcore audience.

You just did a sour-attitude-rewording of what Cragapple just wrote. You do realise that?

Apples to oranges. They both do not and can't do the same things. I'm impressed by move, I own it and use it. It works well

15 Milion sold in 2 years doesn't sound like a failure. The failure to me is typical Sony non marketing. The are the worse at marketing. Its a wonderful product from mine my friends experiences . Its just SO under supported, extremely.

Disc Golf is too much fun. With Killzone 3 it doesn't make the game better, it just adds an immersive way to play.

I'm am interested in seeing Forza 5 that's pretty much it. Little interest if the forced kinect is true. I'd be paying for something I don't want. Also free Xbox live online features are a deal breaker.

Looks like this could be the confirmation that it will be indeed be called the Xbox Infinity. Much better than 720 or Durango.

Matter of perspective, I suppose. Kinect sold almost ten million more units, and those figures are from January 2012. That's why I can see MS pushing Kinect far more than Sony pushing move (which I think is a plus for Sony, actually )

Same here. And even Forza 5 isn't really getting me excited, with some nice PC sims on the horizon.

True, it's better than either. Personally, I would've liked calling it just "Xbox" the best, because Infinity does sound a bit cheesy. Ah well, who cares about what it's called, anyway? Yeah, I know, a lot of people do.
