So Orth resigned, no word on whether it was voluntary or not.

http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/...00_-microsoft-designer-adam-orth-resigns.aspx

I can't decide how I feel about this. On the one hand he didn't do Microsoft's image any good at all, but on the other hand if it's true, Microsoft aren't doing their own image any good at all either. But if it was voluntary then whatever.

Most likely jumped rather than being pushed and to be honest I have very little sympathy, he did after all make his own bed in this situation.

Its the very reason why I don't have anyone I work with/for on my facebook or twitter and why I never discuss anything to do with work on either of them. Its also why I google the hell out of anyone I'm looking to employ.

I wonder how this will affect him getting employed elsewhere.

I had spoken to one of the execs where I work he was let off for being less than honest about certain things he had told me they had pushed it under the rug and he even got a reference.

Whilst I agree but a resignation is a bit too much,he could have children etc

As do I, which is exactly why I don't go on social networks and break NDA's on company products and insult our customers, both of which would be classed as gross misconduct. Had anyone who worked for me done the same I can assure you they would no longer be working for me.

He was free to say what he did or to not say what he did, he chose to say it and insult customers at the same time, now he has the face the consequences of that action.

His choice and his actions lead to this situation, no one else.

Not really anything to sweep under the rug given that he did all this in a very, very public way. Would you want to employ someone who is willing to publicly insult your customer base and break NDA's?

Scaff

Agreed I wouldnt.

So that must mean a career change.

I'm sure there's plenty of places where his in-your-face interface won't be a serious disability. I don't know how euphemistic the title Creative Director is, but he must be fairly competent to have been where he was in Microsoft.

I'm sure he'll be fine. Plenty of jobs out there for people like him, probably just not companies of the calibre of Microsoft. Hell, it makes a good story to tell your grandkids. "Did I ever tell you about the time I was fired from Microsoft?"

Having read his tweets again ,I'd agree with what you said ,still a shame but deserved .

Some information about games: Link 1 and Link 2.

I find the specification updates part the most interesting in first article linked. Also online thing will probably be a big relief for gamers who want to get the next Xbox if it turns out true.

It's really not sounding great from the rumours and reports. A zombie game and a load of FPS? How original. Hopefully most of them are incorrect otherwise my decision will be pretty easy.

Probably get a few more Kinect games too. I am particularly interested on what they are going to do with Killer Instinct, I am hoping they release it on Xbox 360 as I don't think I will be getting an Xbox 720 in near future unless there is something Wow about it over the PS4.

Forza as a launch title is enough to interest me in a big way.

Unless Forza is balls the floor WOW it'll take more than one game to sway my decision. I bought the 360 because it had a lot of games that appealed to me, the price was cheaper than the PS3 which in turn, at the time, didn't have that many games that interested me.

With that being said I didn't buy the 360 until 2007 and it may be so that I don't buy a next gen console straight away either.

I'm different. Forza alone can make me a day 1 buyer. Originally I was dead set on that notion but then we started hearing rumors of always online, blockage of used games, etc. Too many rumors and assumptions, I'm going to wait for MS to woo me.. which won't be that hard really lol

Pretty much sums it up for me as well.

Forza and "always online" go hand in hand really. To get the most from that title, connectivity is key.

Zombies is a broad term, Walking dead and Zombie U have shown it done right.

Family games is..... Well yeah.

FPS are a guarantee this day and age. I enjoy the odd online game.

Oddly the best stuff on Xbox towards the end of its cycle has been indie for me.

Forza and Ryse to be launch titles.

Meh. Don't care about Ryse. Unless Forza 5 does something WOW like adding day/night cycle, weather and AT LEAST updating the Nurburgring to look accurate as adding more tracks, I'm not to knee nor interested...

Just a hunch but I can see day/night transition making it in. Off road and weather effects too I'd wager.

All tracks getting a graphical upgrade is a guarantee too. Not bothered about New York but Positano would be welcome back along with a host of new tracks.

Greater flexibility and options on livery editor will be nice.

My biggest fear is what wheel will be needed to play it.

I never played Forza but I can't wait to see Forza 5 ,really looking forward what T10 offer, have a feeling they will blow us away.

Buying a console specifically for one game/franchise hasn't ended well for me so far. Won't be doing that again, even if Forza 5 is the tits. Not worth it given that there are a lot of other great racing games coming up for the PC.

Given that they've always said the only reason night and weather doesn't exist is for technical limitations with the 360 they really have to include it on a game with a new, more powerful console.

Hmm just watched the Ryse video. Not actually what I expected at all. And seems to be VERY focused on Kinect. Which I have no interest in using. Don't know why they compared it to GOW and Halo, it is NOTHING like those games according to that video.

I seriously hope that MS adapts Sony's open wheel policy. I should be fine though, my Fanatec CSR should work. Key word: should

The rumour mill is that old gamepads will not be compatible. Only a rumour though. If true what implications for wheels?

Haha, that's true. I'm thinking Rally will be possible to be added in. :) I'm mostly more concerned about the Nurburgring still looking inaccurate that's been used through each Forzas except Horizon, and tracks.

Yeah, so am I. Hehe.

Agreed SimonK.

I think it may be a move away from rf towards bluetooth interaction of controllers, that's why it would be incompatible. Wheels are different as they are connected by usb (through a key).

If its x360 controllers than I'm ok with that. But wheels, MS needs to allow PC compatibility like PS3 does. Especially if they want to be serious about racers and Forza. I would personally hate it if my Fanatec doesn't work.

I hope they won't leave USB ports out of the design. If not it seems unlikely that my Fanatec wheel won't connect to the console. Guess we'll see.

Massively late to the conversation but Orth's comments remind me of Criterion saying to fans of Burnout "Get a life - get broadband" at the release of Paradise and it didn't seem to hurt them any in the long term. Bet EA don't stand for this sort of consumer baiting from their development partners though. They prefer to do it via their products (just kidding).
