Everybody also knows that 12 gauge is the only thing that'd work. What would you use, bird shot or slugs though? Anyone can name off rounds. The 9mm is high velocity, low kinetic force and the .22 is even worse. Hand gun wise I'm going .45 for sure. Shotgun is obvious, rifle wise would be .308. It's the long range gun that is up for debate, but this is suppose to be fun so I digress.

No, not because of the ballistics! You need to use the rounds that you can scavenge off the dead soldiers(9mm), or your local department stores(.22, 12 gauge). Everybody knows that!
As for 12 gauge shots, I think slug would be an overkill, unless you need the range. Personally, I'd probably mix them up, so the zombie won't know what he might get hit with, and it will be a mutual surprise for me as well.
Since nobody checked out the zombie survival threads I linked, I might give them a bump tomorrow!
P.S. I think it was the Zombie Survival Bible thing that said that .22 would be a excellent zombie killer, as the bullet will bounce around inside the skull, destroying the brain.

True, but I'd be the guy that was perparing for this day and fanatically making my own ammo. Since I have a reloader.

If a hoard is heading toward you like walking dead, slugs will be great for ripping many.

Actually, I like buckshot, too. I'd buy more buckshot & slugs, but I buy them only at Walmart, and they don't carry a whole lot anymore. I'm glad I stocked up when I could(but still don't have enough for zombie apocalypse)!!!!!
No, you noobie! While slugs will indeed rip them apart, they'll start crawling toward you, biting you in the leg. And when that happens, I'll be crying, because I know I'm going to have to put you down before you turn into one of them!

Guns are not the way to go, too loud and will draw attention,also the ammo my get scarce. Crossbows and bow and arrow, are the way forward. Quiet and the ammo easily replaced.
Guns should only be used as a last resort.

My choices there would be the Benalli M4 Super 90 or AA-12. I like the prior more but the latter makes more sense.
Guys...we've been doing this all wrong. Guns have their place and so do arrows for this war...but we need something that will kill them again and burn away the virus.
oh and bring plenty of salt.

While shotguns have a nice capability to shredder a Zombies head, reloading is also important.
I would go for the M249 with extended ammuntion cassettes.
Nothing is more frustrating than becoming a snack while reloading...
Had to experience that yesterday. Damn 8 shots in the makarov,and i take a clip with only one bullet left. (DayZ)

That is why you will mod weapons.
Make your shot gun Magazine loading or get a combat shotgun as they come pre made to take drum mags.
Or don't be a loner and have your partner defend you while you reload if you need to use single slug reloading types.

I don't trust civilian drum mags. Worse than having to reload is a jam! And that AA12 drum, they don't last long in that particular shotty. Scariest gun ever though.

That is an absolutely terrible idea. Zombies won't die fast from flamethrowers, that won't get rid of their brain quick enough. And then you just have a bunch of zombies that are on fire, which makes everything more difficult.

A US man has been arrested and charged after he allegedly bit a chunk off his neighbour's face.
The incident in Louisiana has been compared to a disturbing case of alleged cannibalism in Miami last week and led to media headlines of a "Zombie Apocalypse".
It's believed Carl Jacquneaux, 43, was high on "bath salts" when he allegedly used his teeth to tear away flesh from his neighbour Todd Credeur's face, reports local news station KATC.
"During the attack, the suspect bit a chunk off the victim's face off," local Assistant Police Chief Kert Thomas told KATC reporters.
Credeur, who claimed he was set upon while working in his yard, said he was forced to spray wasp poison in Jacquneaux's face in an effort to defend himself.
According to police, Jacquneaux then left his victim only to turn up at another residence where he stole a handgun at knifepoint.
A friend of Credeur, who also knows Jacquneaux, told reporters the alleged attacker was “using bath salts”.
Bath salts, a chemical legally sold in many drug paraphernalia outlets, can result in dangerous states of frenzied delirium and are “a lot more dangerous than some of the drugs on the street," Thomas said.
Jacquneaux is being held on a $312,000 bond after being charged with aggravated burglary, battery, violation of probation, and violation of protective orders.
His neighbour is now recovering at home after being released from hospital.
