First, make sure that you don't start KaZaA with windows.

Second, you can "un-protect" write protected files.

Third, you can cut off all downloads by shutting down KaZaA (via File -> Exit).

At least, that's what I do.

Heh. Thats what I do. I hardly ever use Kazaa anymore. A few Vice City songs is all I've downloaded lately.

Or empty your folder. I sort the files in different folders after downloading so this is hardly any trouble.

now why would you do that? people share files for you to get, why dont you share them also? makes downloading with p2p much faster. greedy bastids.. thats what ruins p2p. i dont mind gettin viruses, but when i search for something and it turns up no sources, that really makes me angry! :irked: :banghead:

Forget Kazaa.

Shareaza's kinda slow but it turns out better results than Kazaa.

ehhh... edonkey2000 is by far the best. limits your download speed and limit of downloads according to your upload speed\limit. it also has a million more things than kazaa does. only problem is connecting to a server, or atleast for me it occurs.

DC++ is excellent if you can share ten or more gigs. If you can't, well, then it sucks because it won't let you connect to many servers at all.

Can anyone answer my question form before about write protected/locked files and how to un-do that so they can be moved or deleted?

Sorry MF. What if you uninstall Kazaa? Can you remove them then? Or what if you unshare them?(if they were shared to begin with...)

I did uninstall Kazaa and the one file is gone now.

But the files that I couldn't delete I also couldn't move out of my shared folder. There were a couple that mysteriously became un-write-protected after a day or so. But that last one was just stuck there for a couple weeks. I couldn't do anything to it.

Right click on your shared folder. Select "Properties". Find the little check-box on the bottom that says "Read Only". Uncheck it. If the computer asks you if you want to apply the change to all folders and files in that folder, click yes. Otherwise, you'll have to change the "Read Only" files one at a time.

That wouldn't be it. You can still delete files if they're checked "Read Only" in the properties menu... I had the same problem with a Forrest Gump video I downloaded. I tried to delete it because I didn't want it on my computer any more, but for some odd reason it says that it's in use by some program, but it fails to say WHICH program it is....
