Ever since i got "infected" by this retarded worm thingie, my PC's been slower than it usually is. I did not mess with anything configuration wise, and i still have the same specs i had last week, before i got "infected". Yet, now, it's slower than an old 486/6... If i type something too fast, hit the backspace key and try to write it back again, it freezes. If i try to empty the recycle bin, it freezes (not for an eternity, but it doesn't do anything for a good 30-45 seconds...) I can't play games, obviously. It doesn't play even movies anymore, WMP9 stays there, totally black, saying "connecting..." on and on and on.

Could it be a side effect of that retarded worm?

Yes. Is it that Blaster worm? That worm uses up a lot of system resources and bandwidth, I believe. It searches for more victims while you are online, which uses your bandwidth and will cause a slowdown in your computer. Then on some certain time it sends a request to microsoft update to crash the server.

I probably made most of that up, but you can do a search.

Have you remove the worm yet?

Not totally certain... I got that file that was up for download on Microsoft's website that could supposedly fix things up.

Since me and computers equal two, i'm pretty sure i forgot something.

You did kill the worm in the task manager before updating, right?

It's not mentioned in the article in the other MSBlast thread, but you need to do this before updating.

I believe you can go to Start > Search, type in "msblast.exe" and find it if it's on your hard drive. Delete it if it is on your hard drive.

Hmm, so it seems i can only "use" 50 mb of the 256 mb of RAM i have...

Anyone knows how i can check which application takes how much RAM to work, and how i can make the one that's taking so much stop doing so? It wasn't like that before i got infected...

NT/2000/XP: Press Ctrl + Alt + Del

This brings up the Windows Task Manager. Click on the Processes tab to see what programs are being run and how much memory and CPU percentage they use.

What operating system od you have? In WinXP, just CTRL + ALT + DEL and under the Processes tab it tells you the memory usage of every running process.
