The record speed is 354.2mph, held by MasterStorm. Out of all the users who've used that car, you'd rank 21st/34. Overall, you'd be equal 193rd. Remember that there's always room for improvement!

Well, I personally recommend using a fast, easily obtainable car. The best choice would be the Minolta 88C-V or any black edition cars that you have 👍. I started with the Chaparral 2D, but that wasn't the best choice :lol:. Whatever you find easiest to get over 300mph is perfect really.

I found the Lotus Esprit V8 ok to learn with, plus tis cheap to buy :). I believe the record is ~311mph so it won't go massively quick but getting to 300 wasn't too bad.

ok, yea that's all i wanted an idea. knowing the 'best' recorded time gives me that room for improvement, i'll be going into the gear settings and making changes. my next move is to get the R92 to go 330 mph and then 340 mph and so on.

if you have the Audi R8 racer i would try it out, the best i got out of one of my R8's was 312 mph, i know it must be able to go faster but i've gotten lazy in my quest for 300 mph plus cars:guilty:. the only one 300 mph+ car i frequent is my R92CP which goes 325.73.

How do I get the Cien to 300mph? I think my max is been 295mph.It's also my first time,and my dad was also helping.

Here's a little formula to help setup gear ratios. It's really important to set the ratio's and final independant of the auto setting as it just doesn't work as well.

This equation tells you the maximum speed attainable for any given gear ratio and final gear:

(60R * W) / (G * F) = V

where:

R = the RPM at which maximum torque is produced (in the Lotus Esprit its ~7600)
W = the wheel circumference - race wheels are 0.0012694 miles (don't ask how I worked that out!)
G = The gear ratio (for max total speed that will be your last gear)
F = The final gear
V = speed!

I don't have the RPM value for the R92 so i'll show you my values for the Lotus Esprit V8 i've done it in:

R = 7600
W = 0.0012694 (race wheels used)
G = 0.735
F = 2.555

(60 * 7600 * 0.0012694) / (0.735 * 2.555) = V
578.8464 / 1.877925 = 308.23723mph

I actually achieved 307.58 mph

Having set the last gear you then need to set all the gears leading up to it so that you reach each gear in the heart of the power band.

Other more experienced tuners will help you with the suspension settings etc.

Hope this helps :),

ABud, that is a tremendous bit of arithmatic, but I don't see any figures that regard resistance; is that simply not a factor in GT4, or have I mis-read the post? Or, even, does resistance figure, just very weakly, as evidenced by your VERY slight reduction in speed observed in your test run, against your calculations...?

Thanks,
Dan

The Rac3rX Section - Advanced Rules

Why is it called "The Rac3rX Section - Advanced Rules"? (Post # 1)

And what does "Rac3rX" mean?

Is that like RacerX the unknown racer without a name, or just a cool name for the section?

We need a club for GT PSP maybe the 250mph club, not sure if 300mph has been broken into.

Rac3rX was a member who was banned quite some time ago... look at his last posts to see why. To cut it short, he was too argumentative to follow the rules.

I would guess that other than drag, resistance doesn't factor in GT4. I certainly doubt any inefficiencies in the gear system would be modeled as it would kill the processor.

No drag/ resistance is modeled in the equation so that would account for the fact that i didn't quite make the top speed allowed by the gearing (either that or i didn't drive it well enough:dopey:)

Cheers,

Andy

So they named the rules after him?? That's weird.

Around where, there are allot of pages in this thread to go though. Where are RacerX post?

EDIT: All good Found them.. (Arn't we touchy)

Holly Crap that's the Wheelie guy!!!!

300mph converts to 482 km/h. The fastest I've driven in GT4 is about 460 km/h with the Vee dub Nardo W12. its modified, has over 850hp. can someone please give me some advice on how to make it faster? (i used Nitrous Oxide to get it to 460) I want to be part of the 300mph club.

Sorry If i sound silly. or am I using the wrong car?

Has anyone got the Chapparal 2D over 300 yet ?
I've accomplished 297, But no matter what I do I cant get any closer then that.

Yep, the current record is 308.94mph, held by Toronado. I'm 0.02mph behind him :banghead:

I'd suggest using a much more capable car to start off with, as the Chaparral can be quite frustrating as a first choice... I found that out the hard way. :lol:

If you can explain what kind of settings you've got on the car, maybe I can help you out. 👍

I havent been messing with it latley do to it frustrating me to the point of giving up, I was just curious if it had been done. That is the only Non-Nitrous 300 MPH car, Correct ?

It's not the only one, some of the more powerful cars (Audi R8, Minolta 88C-V etc) can do over 300mph without nitrous. However, the Chaparral is the only 300mph car that you can't buy nitrous for, apart from the Jaguar XJR-9 (which is a suspicious one...)
