Just for your reference, I've been logging GTP's postcount since July. Our average valid post per day rate is 1,082 and currently we have a little under 22,000 posts to go, or about 21 days.

February 24th 2009 is, at present, 83 days away...

I got a digit wrong in the equation and have since changed it to 24 January 2009....is that OK 👍

24/1/09, isn't that January?

GTP_DONK
I concluded that GTP will reach 3,000,000 posts at exactly 24 February 2009 23.15 UK time.

Amended.

Incidentally, my slightly-faithful spreadsheet says that when this was first posted, TheCracker would have been the closest (to within 9 hours) but since then the post rate has leaned out slightly and now Danachronism is closest (to within 6 hours).

I suspect it may slow a little more and put Slick Rick, Austin343 or Turbo Lag closest. At the moment I reckon my money is on Austin.

If GTP makes .176 posts a day from here on I'm still in this. C'Mon GTP. Fight for the good cause.

Ha, that would be lucky. I basically just guessed right in the middle of what everyone else was, but I did know that our post rate was a little over 1,000/day. I really have no idea how the holidays will affect it, though - I think anyone on the 23rd, 24th, 25th, or maybe even 26th will have a great shot at it. Turbo Lag in particular is awfully close to my guess, and it really will be luck determining who gets closest...

Not that obvious. I'd like to cite this:

I think that next week everyone will leave GTP because a much larger event will happen, and people will only return in 2355.

So my answer is 3rd December, Year 2355, at 16:47GMT.

Oh shweet. I'm almost right in the middle.

But I think Casio will win.

I'm afraid anything cited from Casio is null and void and thus doesnt count.. i thought you of all people would know this!!

I'm gonna take a shot in the dark at 25/12/08 at all the 0s 00:00. Just cus I think it'd be cool :) (yes I'm underestimating Daan by 1 minute!)

Didn't we find through the 100,000 threads thread, that the figure is distorted? Highlighting Danny's post shows that we are nearing 3 1/4 million posts. Though I presume we aren't counting the dross as actual posts?

2355 isn't that far away guys when you think about it for a good 348 years.

Think about it.

Well, I figured in the traditional lack of posts in the week up to Xmas, and the upswing in members and questions you get in the next few days as new (and old) games and consoles, and the Christmas Present thread that comes with it. We can only wait and see.

Moderators do delete a lot of posts, but that's not usually because of regular members, it's usually because of the ad-spammers. There's also the new members that do not understand our moderation queue (it's spelled out in the sign-up process), and will occasionally fire off another post or new thread, in their impatience.

Sorry if this has already been asked, but is the "winner" the person who gets closest to the time at which there are 3 million posts, or is it the soonest guess past 3 million? Or is it the person who has the closest number of posts to 3 million at their guess time?
