Thrustmaster TH8S not working in online time trials

Using a T300 wheel and GT7 recognises the shifter in the options screen, works fine with any single player race but when I try an online time trial the only way to change gear manually is using the paddles - shifter does not work at all. Help! Anyone else seen this?

Really? I'd consider it a disadvantage, I'm normally much quicker with the flappy-paddle gear change!

Not if you "sauce" the transmission with engine braking from 6th to 1st gear

In cars with a standard manual transmission, the simulated gear shift you get with a paddle shift is slower than using the clutch and H-shifter. That's the advantage being referred to.
