If I set a time that's just inside the gold line like that, I generally always spend another hour or more trying to improve it in that session because I know if I leave it it's going to take me a bunch of time the next session just to even get back close to it again.
I am in the same boat, I know I may not come back rapidly or regularly, so it happens a lot that each time I come back I start nearly from scratch as I have to learn everything again, especially if what I did in between was very different.
You're missing the entertaining part of pushing people out of the required percentage. :D
Look Whos Talking Now Omg GIF

hahaha, yes I'm aware of that. That's really only entertaining for a very very slim margin of players though.
one day you'll put Shooter out of gold !

Hi guys (and faqen Greek)

Season 9 Smh GIF by The Office

....

Very intense session today with my lovely cowgirl at Lago Maggiore, but no improvement.... for now....
The goal was to work on the 1st sector where I'm too slow, but also trying to improve my current PB :sly:
The results were half positive, half not.

In short, 95% of my laps were in a range of 2:05.8xx / 2:06.1xx.
Session example:

And here is an example of optimal score I had but honestly, all my best sectors together are much more promising.

Good news, still 11 days to align the 4 planets together and make my fantastic cow shining like no others in the all galaxy!!

ATTACK!!!

First test in Lake Maggiore :
one of my favorite circuits on GTS where I did all my Gr4, Gr3, Gr2 cars which I then published.
And for a first try I am not dissatisfied. I tried 3 Gr4s: the Huracan, the 458 Italia and the G70.
It was very hard with the Huracan, especially when braking. I had the impression that the behind wanted to go to the front !!! And after several laps it was impossible for me to go below 2'06'5xx. 🤮🤮
It was the turn of the Ferrari Italia. A car with extraordinary noise and really very interesting on this track, I was able to improve my time to 2'06'2xx. A little more stable than the Lamborghini when braking but loss of grip when applying the throttle when exiting corners. But I'll have to try again because it's really very easy to handle. 😍😍
And then it was the turn of the G70. And then finally I was able to drive seriously. Stable car when braking and exiting corners, less nervous than the Ferrari but just as fast. I was able to improve my time to 2'05'864 with imperfections.

And Santa Claus came early with this lovely gift !!! Can’t wait for tomorrow so I can test it !!!! 😍😍😍

Hi,

The Time Trial at Lago Maggiore is, in my humblest opinion, just brilliant! It is, by far, my favourite so far. I love the track and I love Gr4. I scored my first ever win here too.

A huge shout out to all of you folks that take the time to upload "training" videos! I won't name any as we all know who they are - But thank you, all of you!

I need muscle memory and some slightly larger man equipment to improve on a half decent 2:05:8xx now. I know where the missing tenths are. The weekend sessions will, hopefully, allow me to find them and string them all together to get int the high 2:04:xxx region.

The rate at which the placings / positions are dropping here is astonishing!...

Scottpuss20 logged a time of 2:05:899 at 01:14am today. That placed him at 65th. I logged a time of 2:05:858 at 16:30pm today. That puts me at 650th! WOW!

Best regards to all here.

Ian.

Finally managed to get sub 6:20 at the Nürburgring. Took a few sessions but managed to put a lap together, albeit with a few obvious mistakes still. I will probably leave it at that unless someone pulls out something ridiculous (which I wouldn't rule out)

Here's the lap, DS5, analogue sticks, TC 0, ABS Default, no other assists

New 10 laps stint at LM with Gr.4

TT-LM-Gr4-10laps-4.jpg

And I am officially a golden boy now. Will it hold I don't know, @Tidgney said it will need a 2.07.7XX but the gold limit is already under that...

Very frustrating lap 7, where I arrived at turn 14 with -0.700 and managed to go through the line at ~-0.08, it could have been a 2:07.2XX

Last turn is russian roulette for me, except all but one chamber are loaded. And turn 11 is heads or tails.

Hey guys, I got a question. I'm new to TT and the latest TT is only my third one.

I've done Mission X and the Honda before and barely managed to get bronze on those two, but the new Gr. 4 race makes me crazy as I dont' even get bronze. Regardless of what car I use I couldn't get any faster than 2:17:700, although I know that track better than the two before. I might be an average driver but I'm relatively certain that I do a very solid drive here without any real glitches.

I assume you guys all drive manual without any assistance systems apart from ABS. I use automatic shifting and braking, might that be the reason for my bad lap times - or am I just a lot worse at driving than I thought? ;)

Automatic shifting can be worse compared to manual shifting depending on the car, but not to such a degree.
So back to the basics, whatever you are doing, it seems you are doing it worse than everyone else.

If you wanted a proper analysis, you could always make use of the consoles recording feature and upload a lap of yours to create some critical feedback of what is there to discover.
Or, you try to follow any of the recorded hot laps of the faster driver on the leaderboards and try to stick to their ghosts as if your life depends on it.

I am using AT. What's "automatic braking" ?

I'll advice you to find a replay in the showcase and use it. You could find one that is silver ~2:10 no need to take one from the aliens of the top 10, it'll be so fast it won't be useful.

When you load the ghost, make sure to set it for resetting its position, this way at each sector start it will be close to you. I use 0.3s offset.

Auto-Drive
The Auto-Drive features allow the AI to perform functions such as braking and steering instead of the driver. Though slowing down a car to ensure stabilization will result in a loss of time, it will offer beginners an easy introduction to the pleasures of sports driving. Braking assist will cause the car to automatically slow down when approaching corners, while steering assist will prevent drivers from oversteering. We recommend that beginners use both Auto-Drive features at first.

I didnt know the game offers such a driving aid.

Are you driving cars from your garage or are they rental from the TT? If they are yours, check what tyres are equipped in.

Automatic shifting can be a disadvantage but as mentioned before, not to such degree. Automatic braking though will indeed slow you down big time.

Tires are all set to the same no matter what you have on the cars in your garage aren't they?

But sometimes IM or W tyres are elegible, even if the TT is in dry conditions.

When bringing a car from your own garage one may select a car with IM or W equipped from whatever activity the player had done before.

Edit: example from the Porsche Mission X/Red Bull Ring TT:

Hello :)

Technically, this is an acronym (an abbreviation formed from the initial letters of other words and pronounced as a word) I use time to time in our communication with this friend.

To be completely transparent, here is the meaning of every letter:
F - for Frankenstein (related to his passion for "bowling" in online race). Side note: it could also be F for "Friend" but absolutely not for "Fair-play"
A - for Aphrodite (it's a joke related to a pic he sent me)
Q - for Questionnable (his behaviour on track is clearly questionnable)
E - for Egéen (French term related to the Aegean Sea, the place where he lives)
N - for Nitro (related to a memorable race we had with this equipment in our cars)

So in short, this acronym simply aims to "define" this friend.
That's it, that's all there is to it.

Perhaps save your private communications with friends for private communications with friends, and use language we all understand in public, rather than risking looking like you're doing something that would attract points on your behalf.

It would save on misunderstandings and the necessity of creating explanations.

Auto driver here but only shifting. Bronze is very easy in the new TT. If you have some sort of auto braking, go manual braking.

Others have already mentioned the assists but I will give a different approach to improving your times. Most people use ghosts to chase. The ghost helps you focus on the fastest track line, when to brake and when to accelerate. But, when your performance is massively behind that of the leaderboard it does not help to chase their ghosts. Instead, navigate over to showcase, then use content search to find a replay to use. Filter for a specific car (if wanted), track and select event type "Online Time Trial". If you get no results default to all cars.

IMG_8834.jpeg

Then you should look for a time that is ahead of yours but not too far ahead (say a couple seconds ahead). You should also double check that the date is within the current time trial dates so you are not looking at an old one.

IMG_8833.jpeg

I found one that as 2:14.802. That seems like a good target for you coming from 2:17. Select the replay and then add it to your collection.

IMG_8832.jpeg

Next, go to the time trial but before you start, go to settings and select add ghost.
IMG_8837.jpeg

Rather than select from the leadboard or your personal ones you can also select from collection. Here you will find the replay you just selected from Showcase.
IMG_8836.jpeg

Select that and now you have a ghost to chase that is not too far away from your time. I would also suggest setting you ghost to reset per sector. As you get better then you can switch this setting off to maintain an accurate "gap" performance between you and the ghost for your target time.
IMG_8835.jpeg

This should help you find ways to improve. As you catch that ghost you can go back to showcase and then find a faster replay to chase.

Some caveats here. Don't follow the ghost blindly. They may have bad habits (at least for the slower ones) that you do not want to follow but try to learn general driving line, where they brake and where they accelerate. Don't just react to their brake lights but focus on using points on track to act as reference points.

I started this way a long time ago and I improved rapidly as a result.

Good luck!

EDIT:

As to assists:
  • Lose the auto brake.
  • You can maintain automatic gear selection for now **
  • It is ok to use TCS and at your level, 3 is probably appropriate. Any higher will massively slow you down and for Gr.4 cars usually TCS is not required at all so for a beginner, even TCS2 is probably okay.
  • For Gr.4 you should not need stability control or counter steer assistance.
  • For driving line assists, having the driving line and braking assist will help but you'll notice that the fast line is not always on the driving line.
(Even though I'm a DR A driver and last week finished in the top 100 global, I still occasionally use driving line assist - the current X2019 TT is an example of that as I don't remember all the turns of the Nordschleife otherwise).
  • ** as you get faster and more comfortable, before you switch off the assists, you should switch from auto gear selection to manual gear selection. It will be difficult at first but will come naturally after a while. This will give you huge gains in car control but with that said there are still plenty of fast people using auto.
