So there IS tuning involved, site still says BoP/tuning Prohibited, but he gives alot more info so he is prob right 🤣
Not really a fan of thr Mustang, and with SS .....🤣 but we are going to our best 🤣

site still says BoP/tuning Prohibite
That is how they show it when tuning is allowed. Here is the one starting tomorrow:

Same as Nürburgring | Nordschleife from a while back:

A normal one for reference:

The next trial will pretty much require randumb luck special parts to be competitive and I don't have any so I will probably not even set a lap.
% of people with these parts, very low

% of this group who are actively optimizing their tune, likely very low

% of this group who are good enough to set a top time, probably low

I’d say whatever tunes emerge here will be good enough to get gold!

Yeah...well while I golded the NSX one at the Nür just out of competitive nature/self challenge, I really hated it in some ways because I had to buy 3 diff NSX to compare for best set up combo with stuff you can't undo and trying out a boatload of mods before finding the right recipe. That takes alot of guesswork at the start and time to the figure stuff out because there are so many possibilities and that was a real headache. To me that takes all the fun out of just logging in for a few minutes and drive. With mods allowed it is really time consuming before you can even start to challenge for times...not ideal if your life doesn't revolve around gaming 24/7.

All the time required for tuning is time you could have spent driving and having fun doing the TT instead of getting brain dead.

The other thing I don't like about this format is depending on the car, even if you gold it, it might cost you more credits just to buy the car and mod it, let alone if you buy 3 to try out diff setups to compare, even if you resell the cars after!

Now for someone, like many others, who got tired of grinding just for cash and because of the lack of events in carrer mode and low payouts...I had left for several months because I got sick of it. Since I came back I discovered on this forum following the 25th anniversary anyone could do the online TTs so I immediately jumped in and loved it. It's the only thing that keeps me hanging on to this game now aside from circuit experience whenever there's a new one.

I might very well skip this next TT and according to stats from the NSX Nür TT members posted here, it seem like many participants get turned off by the idea of spending 1-2 mil and going through all of which I just described to potentially come up short(moneywise)in the end, so I expect participation to fall again.
Well myself I do like the fact we occassionally get tuning time trials, good to have some variety. But due to requirements of setting up the car, I think I probably struggle to get gold on this one, just like at Nordschleife. I have 13 gold (soon 14) and 5 silver though, so a good example that this gold probably won't be obtainable for me. My theory is that now that we get the tuning factor into play, aliens will have another thing they are better in than most players (besides driving fast), so will definitely be less people getting gold in this one than usual I think. 🤔

But we have @praiano63 to make everything drivable...

It will be another demanding TT, but love the track.

I love Laguna Seca!

I had another crack at this one today, I hate it so so much. But I was desperate to improve! Top 1,000 is my goal now. Things actually clicked today, and I realised I have to go slower to go faster in the Crocadubaru.. brake early, kept it tight and keep the engine on the boil, a bit of throttle doesn’t hurt its line like the RSR

a couple of decent laps later and some real progress on the first half of the track netted me a new PB! If there was more time I’d clean up the second half… but there isn’t 😅. So some relief. I’d post the replay but I honestly don’t know how to post videos 😅

Well done everybody, I might try once more but otherwise… let’s never speak of this TT again 😂

Yes true, but remember there is usually not one best tune out there, tuning requires finding a setup that suits you the best. I feel like the aliens are better at this than us 'mortals' 😁 Like I've used a decent tune by the best, but almost every time I need to adjust them a little bit, and I qo quicker. They are however a very good baseline to from, to me maybe 80-90% of the potential done.

Ohboy, I fully upgraded a second and then detuned a GT '15 to 450 hp/1300 kg and SS.... and out of the box it's a real good example of how not to tune it cause it drives like a jumbojet on ice 🤣,

I'm super curious what the tune is gonna be eventually and how good it is gonna be, we are going to see the real potential of tuning here I quess, cant wait 😁

Very brief session today, haven't got a lot of time during weekdays, and not a single lap without messing corners or getting penalty. I must be tired of this TT.
So I have to settle for my 1:41.893 (at +2.99%). We'll see how it goes.

May the night bring peace for the wicked and let them aliens sleep.

BRING ON LAGUNA!!!

Well.. I went again, I KNEW I COULD DO BETTER. Driving myself nuts with the bastard BRZ but actually we bonded! All done, A NEW PB!!! I was so pumped! Optimum was in the low 1:40s so I know there was more time there and looking at the replay sectors two and three and some scruffiness but it was faster than my previous best so I’ll take it!!

I cannot wait for Laguna Seca! I’m hoping this one will be a laugh 😎

As others here, I'm burned out on this TT.

Over the last couple of days, I pushed in the BRZ. My last session was 2 days ago. It was mega toxic with me bouncing off my personal best that whole night.

A penalty cut the last thread of my sanity, and I then drove with maximum disrespect to the track.

As with the Nurb GP TT, when you cut sector 1 with enough obnoxiousness, the game will reset you back to the opening straight..

Time to rest

1:41.293

I'm officially throwing in the towel for this one. Went a week without improvement. I was all over the place yesterday and today without being able to get one good lap hooked up. In fact, I think I only had one lap of 41.5. Super frustrating because I couldn't get anywhere near my 41.3 best, much less my ideal 40.9. :grumpy:

I don't know what to think about the next TT. Laguna Seca is fun. BUT it will take a while to find a tune that will work for me, and there are so many turns that are easy to mess up. The Corkscrew might not even be the most difficult spot there. The kink before it tends to kill my lap times more often.

It's still a great time man! I hate this track, I don't like the BRZ and then the penalties for absolutely nothing, absolutely everywhere sealed the deal! Good riddance. Fingers crossed for everyone on the cusp of gold/silver etc.. you'd like to think the aliens weren't so cruel as to try and beat the WR this late in a TT. But then, do aliens have a conscience, morals, any type of emotional awareness whatsoever??

Quite enjoyable TT despite it being on a track I’m not on the best terms with. Always enjoyable with Gr.3 though and it was cool that several cars could manage some really good times. I had a little bit more than this in me (perhaps a 39.9 or 40.0) but couldn’t quite get it all together and 1’40.128 is my final time.

The Mustang used for the time trial can't actually earn special parts from the roulette, so thankfully that won't be an issue.
It will be the Mustang ? On Laguna Seca ? Ouch, I am in for a lot of frustration (but good fun too).

Got my 250k from the previous TT and gave it a try with a rented Mustang (I don't have onein my garage). What an awful lap 🤣 that thing feels like a Citroën 2CV, I unbalance the car so easily, I think I'll need to get a better tune than the stock one.

1'42.XXX lol but hey I am in the top 500 in the world 🤣 there is room for improvement...

What is possible exactly for this TT regarding the parts and so on ? You can do what you want, if you stay under 450HP and above 1300kg ?

Here are the statistics for TT 19 at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in Gr.3 cars. This TT had the biggest participation to date. The distribution is quite fat in the middle, with more people getting silver and bronze than usual, just as the other Gr.3 event was, but unlike that event, this ne is thin at the front end, with a bigger than usual gap between the front super-aliens and the top 1%.

On a personal front, I made a slight improvement last night, ending with 1:40.654 at #672 (percentile 0.45%). I was 1.74% away from #1 (below my average of 1.89%, so progress) and 0.68% away from #100 (avg. 0.78%).

Good luck with your tuning exploits for the next one. The one lesson I took from the only previous tuning-allowed event was to pick a tune (one that is likely to be reliable) early and stick with it (I used Kie25's tune). That way it is the same as having to use a stock car with 'handling quirks'; you have 2 weeks to get used to it. Jumping from one tune to the next just means you keep on having to start over.

What a great time!!, thats fast dude!

This was so frustrating, this morning i took Mushy out and had time for 10 laps before work, until now i didn't feel the BRZ, this morning i was on fire with it, lap 9 i did a 41.082 with 2 huge mistakes?!

All or nothing in lap 10! but stuffed it up quite quickly with 1:30 on the Time trial timer........,
If i had swiched earlier and commited to the BRZ i'm sure i would make it, but thought sticking with the 911 and 200% commit in it would pay off.....

But..... started the new time trial at Laguna,
The good news is i was 7th :) this morning ..., bad news was there were only 7 participants......
I drifted that GT to 4.8 % of the world record on the first official lap , what a hidious thing to drive,....tuning is key :grumpy::boggled::lol:

That's great figures, cheers for your gold!

I was under the impression that good drivers like you do not have big difference between PB and optimum, but looking at your post it seems that your delta is similar to mine (I'm not speaking of the actual time, just the delta )

Am I right and this difference is just becuase you were in a rush for the finish of the TT?

@Dan_Tes is half Alien, that's the problem here

As usual very helpfull to compare feelings with reality.

I want to spend some time from the couch to see what correlation there is between TT rankings and Dailies rankings.

Is it true that the distribution of classes is also found in the TTs? Obviously speaking of statistics the outliers are minor details.

I have almost everything ready at the level of formulas and graphs, but I'm short on data. I have downloaded a few pages of the rankings by hand, but I don't have an automatic tool.

Is it too much if I ask you to pass me an XLS with columns of times and DRs?

I logged on last night and decided to have one last-ditch attempt for gold, having been sitting on a 1:42.1XX for a few days. 6 laps later and I'd cracked into the gold territory with a 1:41.7XX! You gotta love it when the RSR comes right for you and that gold time becomes a sure thing!

This next one though...
