I was gonna say that I just don't have the time to get into the 40's, but i did spend 600km today trying to.....without succes 🤣
I think I'm giving up now, and take my 41.077 🤣, I see lots of room for improvement on this lap but then again, I saw that already before the 600km's today 🤣🤣, you won @Dan_Tes ......again..... 🤣🤣

Fastest lap in the 911 maby someone can use it,good luck guys!

Great lap! In turn 3 if you can lift only a few meters earlier, that will enable you to scrub less by understeering and reduce coasting to only a fraction of a second before being able to pick up the throttle again almost immediately and from there manage the gas(and roration)so you be able to hug as much as possible the inside curb (almost throughout) by staying partial throttle a fraction longer, the car will be able to stick to the right on full acceleration and stay connected to the inside for as long as you need while accelerating hard and you're into the 40's right there with the rest of your lap! You will gain 1.5-2 tenths over your current line if you can manage to do that consistently in T3. With your great driving, it should be fairly easy for you to achieve.

Again great job and looking forward to see you in the 40's before the TT ends, you can do it!

Bonus tip: if you can manage to do that consistently, you'll find that you can then manage to make a straight line towards turn 4 when exiting T3 and cut diagonally towards the outside(left) on track out instead of following an arc, there are a few additional one hundreds to gain there 😉

Damn! My heart is racing!
Managed to stay behind my ghost for most of the lap and improved greatly on last two corners.

Will it hold?

Tried the BRZ, but I just can't adjust to the steering wheel being on the right side :( (Using PSVR2). Going to have to stick with the 911 and keep at it. Ran a few more laps yesterday but wasn't feeling it. Going to get serious about it again today. Currently still stuck at silver. I'm losing too much time in section two, I just can't pick out a consistent brake marker for turn 5. Turn 8 giving me problems also, not able to consistently go through that carrying enough speed. Sometimes I have to lift, sometimes tap the brakes, etc. Going to turn on the racing line and see if that helps. At the very least the big red zones should help me find a consistent spot to be.

EDIT: Shaved off 3 tenths, braking markers are definitely helping, I'm now consistently running times that were at my previous PB. Still about 1.5 from gold but at least I'm moving in the right direction again

EDIT 2: Down to 1:42.8 now, less than 1 sec left to go.

Thanks for the tip!, now I have to look into it again 🤣🤣.
I appreciate the tips @FlightSpeed_ 😁🙏

In my series of totally not procrastinating on pushing for a faster time in the BRZ, I mean car testing, I've gotten another car into gold.

The Honda NSX Gr.3

1.41.722

Gran Turismo® 7_20230311145034.jpg

I remember this car being weird, overweight and prone to slides running stock in the Sardegna grind several months ago. Not sure if the NSX benefited from a physics tweak, something in BoP fixed the car, or some demon has granted me understanding of GT7's Gr.3 cars (for a price).

The NSX has superior traction in 2nd gear out of corners - Line up the exit and stomp. It's reminiscent of the 911, but with less push on full throttle. Crazy high speed grip / stability too, but can over-rotate and slide if you get too aggressive.

You need to be more aware of trail braking in slow corners. It helps with turn-in more than I've noticed in other cars; otherwise the NSX pushes when you're fully off throttle and trying to turn in. Aside from lack of skill, I think this was killing my consistency; my trail braking is even more crude than my throttle application.

A faster way through the final corner for me was a near four-wheel drift. I stumbled on this when I got my trail braking, turning and throttle application mashed together + some outside curb.

I'd need a skill boost from luck, gods and/or aliens to replicate this consistently though.

May my abuse of track boundaries (and getting away with it) avenge us all.

I was convinced I wasn't going to make the gold cut off for this one but I've finally managed to put in a 41.7 in the 911 this afternoon. It's so, so satisfying when you finally manage to pull a full lap together. GT is basically all about the time trials for me at this point.

I don't know if something has been fixed or if it's just TT specific, but I like using the "reset ghost position" setting with a fast ghost as it helps me to see where I'm losing time across the whole lap. That's been broken in recent TTs, for me anyway, so you're just watching the ghost disappear into the distance after the first sector. Thankfully it seems to be working again now – if it weren't for that I doubt I'd have made the cut.

Hi,

My last ( I think ) session at this TT, due to work and farm commitments, has brought me a 1:41:2xx and I am delighted with that.

I would just like to say a massive "thank you" to everyone here who has offered encouragement, tips, videos and just good spirit! This kind of thing is just brilliant IMHO!!! It has helped me immensely - Many others I am sure of it!

The last two time trials have seen me end up just around 2% off the fastest times in the world. Stunned I am folks! Stunned!

Thank you - All of you!

Beer O'clock now!

Best regards to all here.

Ian.

My final result on this TT challenge with the BRZ. 1:40.452
My approach for this track/car combo, was to force myself to follow one simple rule: Force myself to brake earlier than 'what feels natural'
This track is pretty much all about apex early, maintain a high apex speeds and getting on early and aggressive exits.
I also advice to avoid shifting down to 1st in turn 5 and turn 10. Even though I did exactly that in my lap. It's a gamble, the rear has tendency to suddenly fly away from you, and the 'gain' is imo not worth the risk.
It was a fun TT challenge this time, and I enjoyed it alot. Even though Barcelona is one of my weakest tracks. Always have been, for some reason.
GLHF to all of you who's still sweating this challenge!
Wiggle on!

Nooo! I feel your frustration @Gomario JSP ! There are no winners here, I want you to go faster (and in turn, make me go even faster 😈😂)! I find this one so frustrating. If it helps, I did maybe 1000km over the last two days and only improved 5 hundredths 🤦🏻‍♂️

It’s even got to the point where I’ve mounted my pedals differently, changed the accelerator spring, changed the sensitivity of the brake pedal, tried different socks, changed religion all to try and make myself very very slightly quicker. None of which has worked 😂
Damn! My heart is racing!
Managed to stay behind my ghost for most of the lap and improved greatly on last two corners.

Oh my days, I’d be sweating! I can’t see the WR being improved upon seems like such a perfect lap to me but aliens always find a way 🤪 Good luck my friend!

First place has moved. Gold now under 1:41.904
That was expected. I'm not ready to throw the gauntlet yet.

Thanks man. I will keep on trying. I know there's at least two tenths there for me.

Really admire those of you who push just for the sake of seeing how low you can go. I just can't be motivated to push beyond the first gold time I set. I set a 41.7 early and then left it. Won't be able to play the next few days so thought maybe I should try to drop it a few tenths just in case something crazy happens, but after 5 laps I'm 0.5 seconds off and just feel like it's a waste of time trying to get back up to speed.

I've had a bit of time off from this over the past few days, been grinding for credits to buy the invitational Ferraris and focussing on other things. Tonight I'll have another go. The plan is to run the NSX for a bunch of laps and see if I can break into gold with that. If that doesn't work I'll hop into the RSR until I can get gold in that (if possible!).

How much longer is the TT running for?

Ends thursday morning (UK).
I have a tenth in hand now for silver but no way I'm going again.

Well, I had a tiny session this morning but it was rubbish, tried back in the Porsche and no improvement.. I just felt... lost! Does anyone get that? Can't get my braking point right, turn it at the wrong time, don't turn enough, turn too much, power too early or late.. Penalties everywhere, spinning on straights.. I just forget how to drive! Ok it's not terrible as I could still lap in the 1:41's but nowhere near my PB and feeling pretty exhausted.

Every TT I managed to improve over the course of the fortnight but this one I felt like I peaked right at the start and it's not making me happy!! I might focus on daily race C this week until the new TT comes out. Have fun, guys :D

Yep. On Saturday improved my time to 1:40.736. It felt as if there was more improvement so I did a session yesterday. After 50 miles I had completed one lap and that was only because I forced myself to slow all the way down just to get around. It was 2 seconds off pace. At that point I stopped and called it a day.

That sort of thing happens to me pretty much every TT.

Yeah, pretty much the same. Today is Monday, tired after work tried 25 laps and best was 1:41:7
(My PB is 1:41:0 and OPT 1:40:7 so I was hoping to nail all sectors but we will see if that will be possible)

I think it'd be fun for the next online time trial to feature the Honda RS272 at a F1 circuit that hasn't been on the calendar in recent years. For examples, Fuji, Nurburgring Nordschleife, or Brands Hatch.
Nürburgring was recently on TT, how about Monza?
