Fantastic times everyone!

I went for the last sessions yesterday and today, but lack of practice over many previous days left me chasing hundreths, not tenths, so a very modest improvement to 1:27.672.
It was either turn 1 or the long left hander before the end.

Patience and work do pay off as shown by @Jeje6410 Congrats!

On to the next...
Thanks a lot my friend
yes the work always pays and it's really nice. It's a shame you didn't have time to play it more. So I tell you at the next TT my friend with pleasure and i'm sure you'll give your best!!!!!

I found the Radical fun in the Circuit Experience. Unlike many others though, I do not particularly enjoy Gardens. I hate those 90 degree turns before the finish. And the billion apex turns before it. And the hairpin that I either overshoot or take too easy. And the chicane at turn 2. And the... I'll take regular Dragon Trail any day over it, death chicane and all.

I'll be giving the Alphard one last run tonight. A final chance for improvement.

I really like dragon tail gardens. I'm sure I will struggle to get a silver on this one, though. So much better than Laguna Seca or Mount Panorama (Bathurst). I also like the Radical. I used a tune for it on the Human Comedy Missions at Kyoto. Fun car.

Awesome sector 1, so-so sector 2 (compared to my lap yesterday), and a great final sector...that would have been damn near perfect had I not somehow accidentally hit the shift down button while on my way to the line! 😭😭😭 I'm certain I would have broken the 26.5's if not for the stupidest of stupid mistakes. Instead, I end up .007 slower than my best. I have time to give it one more try, but I just don't have it in me. This van has broken my will.

I too had one last go tonight! I know a lot of fast drivers will have just got gold and left it but I felt this was one of the best chances I might ever get to get a high placed finish! It’s fair to say I did a few miles tonight and they were mostly extremely frustrating. Twice I was on for a super super fast lap only to get too excited and lose it in the last corner.. seeing my best sectors and adding them up had me convinced I could hook up a perfect lap (for me)

And.. I DID IT!! A new PB and a great chance of getting my highest ever finish. Currently P36 😬. I think I had a 1:26.2 in me but my body and mind are broken now.. it’s time for a well earned sleep. Watching the replay it was much tidier than my previous fast laps so all the practice came together in the end. Time well spent (as I don’t have a wife! 🤣), I will always have a soft spot for the Jurassic Alphard!!

I noticed @Doodle has retaken P1, good luck friendo! I’ve enjoyed chasing your ghost over the last few days!

Not looking forward to the next trial, I struggled with the Brands Hatch circuit experience and the track is one I’m unfamiliar with.. but it should be fun to have something genuinely quick in the corners for the first time in a while (since the surprisingly enjoyable electric VW thing)

So close...

Gran Turismo™ 7_20230413075103.jpg

It was so frustrating to lose all in the last turn each time, compromise starting speed for the long straight and then try to make up for the time lost even before beginning the lap.

I would need to understand how to take that turn, but I can't be bother to spend more time on that TT. With time I've found better ways for nearly all the other turns, including the one at the end of the long straight.

The long left (T8 ?) is a mystery to me to... can't figure how to go trough it.

Excellent result @Dan_Tes. Well done. 🍻

Holy cr*p, that is a serious time Dan, well done! So clearly Dan is the man with the van

Lucky my internet connection is fixed again, so I'm looking forward to the Radical!

Congrats on place 36! Nice!

EDIT: In the original posting I had forgotten to update total participants. Now corrected.

Here are the statistics for TT 21 Autopolis Shortcut Course in the Toyota Alphard Executive Lounge '18.

  • Participation continues to be strong - this had the second highest number of drivers.
  • This was 2nd easiest for getting gold and for getting any medal.
  • More than double the average to date of drivers were within 1% of #1.
  • The gap from 1 to 100 was much smaller than usual.
EDIT: Forgot to add my usual personal bit. Ended #141 (2nd best nominal placing), 0.73% from #1 (my closest to date by %) and in percentile 0.10% (2nd best after the Mustang at Laguna). Very pleased indeed with that result.

TT2.jpg

This final table below is an attempt to show whether TTs were easy (green Event number), medium (amber) or difficult (red).
  • Other than the double dose at Christmas, difficult ones appear to be around five or six apart, so unless this current one is difficult, the next one might be four or five away.
  • Both tuning allowed events fall into the difficult category.
  • Difficult events had either RM tyres (3 of 5) or SS (2 of 5).
  • Every difficult one so far (if we see the double as one) has been preceded by a medium one. Mediums have also been followed by other medium or easy, so not a clear indicator, but as my gran used to say before every trip to the circus, "Beware the Medium".
TT3.jpg

The red or green in the final four columns are based on whether the outcome was below or above the total average to date. This means previous rankings may change as the average changes over time.
Note that I excluded bronze as an indicator because the proportion bronze is impacted by gold and silver. If it is a very easy event and many people get gold or silver, fewer get bronze, making it look difficult by the bronze measure, when it isn't.

Guys, help me here a bit, I had a gold time but this morning now I only received a prize for silver. Never paid much attention to how all this works but does the target time change or something?

Huge respect for work you do. After I have seen what you are doing i started filling excel for my own results and now I see my excel and your excel pure statistics do not match.
I somehow got gold to 1:28.469 while your gold is 1:28.817
I have a print screen when it was 1:28.533 so I am a bit confused here. Could it be that PD format without leading zero messing up things? How did you got it to 1:28.817? I take 85.892 second multiple by 1.03 and get 88.469 (1:28.469 sec)

*Edit your silver is 1:30.542 while in my image it said 1:30.252 two days ago, and similar with bronze too ? You got it higher than what it was two days ago.

Gold time is calculated to be 3% on top of P1 time. When someone improves time, gold (and other medals) are recalculated to new P1 time plus 3% of that new time.
Doodle improved his time last night hence your time got silver result.

I agree with your calculation of gold time. I neglected to update a link in the table where the current TT is compared to average of all previous TTs. Will correct that now. All other stats are derived from the correct gold time, which I have in my source table.

Just gotta try harder next time now I know how it goes.

Yes one tip is to come back 1-3 days before TT ends, and then realise if you are close to drop from your current trophy category (2 tenths or less sometimes even 3 tenths is risky but usually not), you should probably try and improve your lap to avoid this. Has saved me multiple gold trophies. The aliens at the top end up having a fight for #1 in the world in the end, so this always seems to happen 🤔

Now I know this I will. Always thought once you hit the target, that that's it.
