I give up on the Le mans one, trying to control manage the Sauber on this track is a job especially when you're trying to be as fast as you can while also using caution on every turn and corner, the last chicane messes me up too. I'll take my bronze medal and accept it.
For less experienced drivers (like me) I think that 787 is better than Sauber. Sauber is easier to drive, better grip and more speed while turning, but I don't have enough skill to use is and for me Mazda is a better option because of the higher speed on straights. Give it a try, but I suggest to use TC 1 or 2 with this car. It took me only few laps to get silver but miss 2s to gold so I'm pretty sure that it is out of my range and skill and don't practice it anymore. Driving Mazda through chicanes is a wild and frustrating experience but doable.

Okay, I'll try using the Mazda 787B, and I'm gonna record my run so you guys can look and see how I did. I'm gonna aim for silver as I don't think I'll be able to get gold. But 1M is better than 250k right?

Finally! I knew a low 3:22 was possible. And it could have been even a tenth better, but I had a poor entry into the Porsche Curves. Super annoying because whenever I'm not on a fast lap, I tend to nail that sector. Oh, well. I also left some space on the exits of Indianapolis and Arnage. Tarmac I could have used to pick up that teeny bit more. Still over the moon with this time. :dopey:

Currently top 200. Will it hold? :scared:

Splits weren't too bad.

And I'm behind ONLY one Finn!!! Though of course a Swede had to sneak in there. What exactly is in the water up there in Scandinavia?? :P

I'm pretty sure you can get an even easier silver using the Porsche 919. It lacks top speed but you can pretty much take the Porsche curves flat with maybe a slight lift.
I would echo Rash's recommendation Chris- if you want to move from bronze to silver, try the 919. Have a look at the videos by Kie25 and Mistah_MCA in the 919; I did a few laps in it and as Rash says, you make up a lot of time in the corners and especially through the Porsche curves.

Thanks for the input, I may just start aiming for silver. Honestly all gold times are for the pros/aliens as they can manuever high-speed cars through complex tracks like this in an instant. Look at Burl's top time in the 3'19.000's. He is unstoppable!

Willow was quite easy
I will probably regret opening this door, but there you go. Your statement is quite strong and, although you might not have intended it to sound that way, it is frankly a bit disrespectful to and dismissive of the 96.2% of drivers who did not get gold. And probably to many of the 3.8% who did but had to work very hard for it.

Well I golded all Willow time trial sectors except the lap-attacks so that tells you the difficulty has peaked higher since GT sport. And I don't think the physic change really helped much for me. What about you all, did it help you get better driving skills?

Well, the brief server outtage deleted my PB lap at Tsukuba (1:09.4xx a gold time, no less) ... So after everything was back online, I went after it again while everything I was doing was still fresh in my mind.

Managed to best my old time on the 3rd lap, 1:09.394. but I was having fun sliding around and my daily workout was also erased so I just kept driving.

12 laps in, I beat my record yet again. I hope this gold time holds. In spite of how much fun I have with this combo, I do find a quicker pace is difficult for me to put together.

Here's a video of my lap for anybody looking for inspiration or critique.

You damn near nailed that last hairpin! First one you throttled up too early (so do I lol). Great lap!

Unbelievable lap brother!

Willow was quite easy...I didn't spend too much time on it and golded it with analog sticks  The biggest problem was the track limits.
I disagree. Willow was quite hard. For the users like me (not really experienced) with controller and automatic gear box it was really hard. Tsukuba is really easy, but at Willow I was really strugling with too low gear on the exits. Track limits is the thing that is given, you cannot do anything with this, but with the gears .. if you can do it manually than I think it is much easier to reach gold than with auto.

Ok, so I see mention of people viewing the top laps from the leaderboard. Watching the SuperGT vid I posted, at the 4:38-mark, he selects the 2nd fastest time from the leaderboard, pulls the menu up and it shows "view Profile" & "Play Replay" and he plays the replay... Is there some magic button to press? When I do that I get view profile & "Load Ghost" as my two options. I've even tried going to the profile and then their gallery to see if that's where the replay is hosted and nope.

Am I crazy or just stupid lol???

You get those options only before you entered. So as you go into the TT, first thing you do is click on the leaderboard and it should be there.

Good luck to everyone still on the track chasing those final tenths and well done those who've posted their closing times!

What a blast Le Mans turned out to be, and a very tricky time trial to get completely right due to the long track and powerful vehicles.
Tiny little mistakes in corners could cost up to half a second if you failed to get on the throttle early enough.

I struggled most on tertre rouge. Very hard to get a good timing on there consistently whilst keeping in track limits.

Surprisingly Arnage was another tricky one. Never could accelerate out of there as fast as the top ghost.

Final lap from yesterday is below. A very undramatic stint.

I need a break, and thankfully tomorrow it's back to 12h nightshifts for some well earned rest

BRAVO, your lap is trully impressive and I can only applause with respect 👍

Here are the gap with my "laps":
1st chicane: +3 secs
2nd chicane: +4 secs
Mulsanne: +4 secs
Indianapolis: +5 secs
Porsche curves: +6 secs
End: + 7 secs
:indiff::lol:

First thing I would say is to drop the Mazda and go with Sauber, I was in the same boat in the beginning, switching constantly between Mazda, Sauber, 919 and the 908 but as with others Sauber did it for me in the end. Watch mine and other's replays couple pages back and post yours. You definitely have it in you so just don't give up, analyze your replay and keep trying.

I tried Sauber before, I even tried it yesterday just to be sure. Its improved agility gives advantage in the corners, but I am just not fast enough in turns to compensate for its top speed deficit, I always end up 2-3 seconds behind my 787 ghost whatever I do.

Right now, encouraged by what both of you said I tried 919 and yes. First sector was phenomenal, simply destroyed the Mazda (Dunlop chicane without penalty on first try - wow!). What of it if half a kilometer after Tertre Rouge my Mazda ghost blitzed past me and disappeared into the distance never to be seen again (and I blew the first chicane on Les Hunaudieres in my current PB lap). If aimed just for the bronze/silver boundary (3:29) then yes, it would probably succeed in crossing it after a solid work on it, but nothing more.

Ok, those cars in competent hands can be super fast as seen on lap guides by Kie and Mistah or any top10 times on leaderboard, but for my limited skills, automatic transmission and monkey steering inputs the blunt hatchet that is 787B just works better. Even if just 1 in 10 starts of the lap ends up without penalty.

That's the fight I have on my hands and I accept it (with heavy heart)

I guess people basically being forced to use group c cars to get gold is why fewer than expected are in the gold 🤔

Even though I am safe in the gold with a 3.24.5, I decide to give the TT another go. I tried the XJR-9 and that car is just so bad lol. Meh grip and horrendous to get the power down on second gear even low revs, bad top end. Could maybe get it to low 3.27s with a perfect lap. Then the R92CP, that car felt like it had some potential, great acceleration and top end, pretty stable. But that 2nd gear is just terrible, way too short and too much wheelspin. Mid 3.25 potential despite its 2nd gear. 962C felt really good in the corners, fairly easy to get the power down. But ultimately lacks big time the low end torque. Did a 3.25.8 with it, could find a few more tenths.

Gonna give Sauber C9 one last go, haven't used it in a while. And then 787B which I can maybe get down to a 3.24.2 🤔.

Another one converted to the Mazda, after lot of laps with the GR010, a few laps with a rented Sauber (which allowed me to improve by 1s)
4 laps with the 787B tonight, lap count 47

Exploded all my records laps after laps and I could do much better with some consistency 😃

Worst lap (first complete one with this car on this track on this TT), was better than my previous record with the GR010... 😅

The straight line speed of the Mazda is the key...

High hopes to reach silver with more knowledge of that car 🤓

You are running out of time but there is still hope. One thing I think you have to learn with that car to go quick enough is to go to 3rd gear very early. Feel free to use this lap I did as a guideline. No alien lap so you can maybe easier find a few things to improve on. Good luck, and hopefully you get silver 🏁
