My 6yo daughter brought a book home from school today and it's about you lot! It's called Alien Race.

I don't like to put too many laps in my TT stints. A shorter course like this, 20 laps a day is usually good.

Some progress, but there's a lot more if I could stop touching the wall!

Look at Lap 18 ... 1:22.799 was invalidated because I messed up Lap 17 on the last turn!

:banghead:

Such an apt emoji for this, too.

Ok, got the license done, struggled a bit with the MP4 but after that I tried the 400R .....
Out if 15 laps I had one valid lap of 24.3 or something..... I hate this one to the bone, I realy do, and I have no idea how the hell I am going to be able to get gold 🤣
I think I need to watch some others 🤔

If you just want gold, you can let the car coast a little bit mid corner, let it settle a bit first before applying power. Careful with the counter steer when the car starts sliding, the tires can bite suddenly and you will head straight to the wall.

The right handers after both of the tunnels are hard to get right (and massive amount of time to be gain). The first one (at the beginning of 2nd sector), you need to brake more than you think because of the small drop in the braking zone. The 2nd one you can brake less than you think because the the corner exit is going uphill.

Yes, I agree. I am not a fan of the urban tracks as they are narrow all around which leads to risks hitting the wall. So how many laps do you guys do before you eventually get the rhythm right? I'm asking because I'd like to get those 2M credits as a reward for my hard work and grinding.

Sat down to try Tokyo this evening. To be honest, I was in two minds as I’ve never been good on these tracks on any of the variants, but I had some time on my hands…

250+ miles later and I at least know my way around the track. The car is beautifully balanced and it really makes this TT addictive. I started off struggling to a) get a clean lap, or b) get under 1:28…

Kept grinding though and really quite happy with where I’ve ended this evening on 1:23.220 which right now is gold (just). There’s a long time left on this event, so I doubt it will hold but I’m not sure I’m want to come back to this track and those walls :banghead:

Great, can you help me and give me some advice on where the best braking points are? If you have some extra time available.

Midnight Purple makes you faster 💜
That is true 🤣

Ok, first real stint and each lap I drive the less I am enjoying it, this one is a big miss for me, don't like anything about it, the throw in while downshifting feels akward, and god those walls....... invalidations.....sometimes when I don't even hear a scrape ... it becomes red.
I have no idea how some almost take everything in 4th...and have no idea when to shift to 5.... almost seems like 4th of 5th doesn't realy matter...

But set a descent banker this morning, and god .....please don't make me go back 🤣

Thanks for the advice @Evilmuffin

For me, it seems like it takes about 10-15 laps to get dialed in where I'm fast and not bumping the wall. Then I usually go 5-10 more where I can set a good time. Anything after 20 laps, I get mixed results. Some days are better than others.

I noticed you asking about braking points. While I don't really have particular landmarks, your best bet is to brake a little earlier than you might think. Watch the top replays to get a better idea. But I'll try to give some tips.

- Sector 1 -
Turn 1) First right hander, 4th gear is good here. It's a light brake and trail brake while you rotate the car.

Turn 2/3) Right hander, to down hill 4th gear. No brake, but a lift off throttle to rotate. (WR yesterday was flat out, I think and upshift to 5th but I couldn't replicate this).

Turn 4) Flat out.

- Sector 2 -
Turn 5) Brake just as you crest the hill, 4th gear. Not too heavy of a brake, but you will have a lot of speed into this corner.

Turn 6) Just after starting downhill start to brake lightly. 4th gear is fine here, too. It's a longer braking zone, but braking too hard will unsettle the car.

- Sector 3 -
Turn 7) Light brake just before the up hill, more firm than 6 as it's a shorter brake zone.

Turn 8-11) Flat out.

- Sector 4-
Turn 12) Around or just after the thicker lane marker start braking. I think this is the place I brake the hardest, but it's not very long. 3rd gear.

Turn 13) Flat out.

Turn 14) Light braking, hmm not sure where I start here. But 4th gear.

Note, there is still a lot of sliding involved but the car handles it very well.

Hope this helps.

That was a cracking first sector you did there! The best I had managed was a .422 🫠

Bravo mon ami !!!! 👏👏👏👏👏

Question about tunning your cars in TT.

I know that there is BOP applied so you cant really tune your car.

But what about custom parts like wing, front bumper and wider tires. Doesnt that give you more grip vs stock car that you rent?

Or does BOP removes custom parts aswell.

I usually just rent a car for specific event so I never really tried to test that.

Any aero parts won't affect the BoP the game forces on your car.

Wide wheels, I'm not super sure. However, during the TT with that Garage RCR Civic people were discussing adding a standard width tire to help reduce understeer. I don't know if that was actually happening or a placebo.

Visually, the changes are still there, but you won't get any benefit out of them.

I'm away for most of next week, but expect bronze at Interlagos to be safe. This Tokyo one is likely to be a no-medal one for me. I'll have about an hour tomorrow but it's just out of my league. The skill you guys have getting the car around there so quickly without kissing walls is astounding. It's definitely one of the harder TTs and hats off to anyone that gets a medal, whatever colour.

First stint in Tokyo and i'm actually surprised at how much i'm enjoying this combo. Love the rhythm of the laps.
Posted a 22.493 and looking to improve later in the week hopefully.

@Gomario JSP you might have to come back for this one
You are making a sport out of this 🤣🤣
I doubt I will return, I hate it! 🤣...but maby I have to now..... maby...maby....🤣

Nice time mate!

New WR time at Tokyo of 1:20.817 brings the Gold cut-off down to 1:23.242 - I‘m wafer thin to gold now by two hundredths so as expected I’ll have to go again to be safe. I think my optimal splits stacked up to a 1:22.9 so in theory I should be good, but as with everyone else, it feels as if I just need to look at a wall wrong and the time goes red  :scared: :banghead:

@Gomario JSP and @Boabdulrahman - nice laps!

EDIT: there’s a 1.5% split just from positions 1 - 100… @half_sourly Sir! - from your stat library, can you tell if that’s within bounds for a TT, or is this a special cause?

Anecdotal evidence from my personal stats: I have been in the ≈1,5% range a few times and never was my place even close to top 100.

Those might be outliers. So let’s see what the master of stats says on Monday.

Edit: also the TT isn’t over yet. So that 1-100 gap might still change significantly from where it is today.
