I was out of the TT hunt and indeed GT7 for a couple of months because of hardware failure and then a disasterous new rig build. Trying to get back into it with the Dino, but it proved quite the challenge to get anywhere near the top of GTP leaderboard now. Last fall I could even sneak in a rare win against @Gomario JSP on road cars, but he along with a good few others have ascended out of my reach. I did at least a dozen sessions on this, first ones still familiarizing with the new gear and couple of very frustrating sessions ruined by GT7 forgetting about my pedal calibration settings (found out by watching replays that my gas pedal only hit ~90% and still got a 1:04.8).

So now, with my wrists sore as hell, I'm done. Top 100 was way out of reach, was trying to push for 1% from top but even that is proving a hair too far. This lap is .04 seconds short of my very best sector 1 and sector 2 is in fact my PB, so extremely close to my limit. Regardless of the current ruthless level of competition here, it's nice to see the community blooming! Keep it up guys!

Welcome back!,
Good to have you busting our b*lls again!
And a .5 @ top 200 is not a bad lap mate!, that is high on the board! and a great achievement 💪
Like you said.... it's insane how this competition has grown... some are never to return..🤣

Glad to see you back!

I hope next time trail is more like this …

First session at Sardegna.
The stubborn me wanted to gold it on my own. Ofcourse I read all your comments and suggestions, but having never driven this track or car before I could only guess which corners are they referring to. So as much "vanilla" as keeping up with the thread allows to.

First, nothing near the gold range, trying to understand how the car wants to be handled. Then I was stuck with 1:05.845 for a long, long time, then dipped inside... just, at 05.819. Finally around lap 80 I managed to exit the last bend in a decent manner so ended up with this:

Gonna watch them lap guides and see if I can get rid of any of my bad habits learned during this 80-something lap stint.

Guys, I have a surprise, I have made a huge amount of progress today thanks to using @djolliea's ghost. I'm now sitting at a 1'06.848 with the Dino, here is the video. Watch how smooth I drove in most of the lap. You'll be amazed by watching this one. I still think that last turn is a lap-killer.

You know also I don't have many subscribers as I thought I would. My videos the past 2 years haven't been really that popular. Oops, I probably should have cut that first 1 minute and a half of the video because I made a couple errors and had to restart the session twice.

I am sure there are still some things I could have done to make my lap more smooth and steady. For instance this sharp right turn is costing me a little time.

I think the rest of the lap was fine to me, but tell me what you think. Thanks everyone for the tips. I have to learn from the masters!

Anyway great Job Chris this is definitely an improvement and save silver 💪
I would recommend a slower ghost to better keep up the pace and learning more about racing lines and breaking points.

Cheers!

Nice work. Way smoother. Keep it up!

All the easier tenths are now collected.
Lap guides checked, breaking points adjusted, yet still much inconsistency, especially in the south-east corner.
For now, under 2% looks good.

Do I see 1:04? Not in my optimals, I don't.
Small breakthrough should be needed for that.
But it's surprisingly fun combo, so I'll keep trying mashing those buttons.

So,after doing a couple thousand laps over the weekend, could only manage 5 laps under .590....589,585,584 and 582 twice....my .581 dropped down to 115th by today.....i think with all the sports on TV on weekends and me trying to sell a car online distracted me,car only had a lil over 533,000kms on it,what did you expect?.lol, finally sold it Saturday night, one less thing to deal with....by sunday my hands were killing me,need a break....24 hours later, hands feel good, did a little tinkering with settings, and noticed a lil something something ...and presto!...a .021 drop!..back in the top 100...drinks are on me tonight!....🥂.....and hopefully, not done yet...:dopey:

Got within the top 2% on the Dino TT tonight.

I discovered that I am a little quicker with Countersteering Assist enabled on controller - the intense “smoothing” you get while correcting your car on controller just never really felt right for me personally.
Is it cheating? I dunno, we all use ABS on cars that don’t have them, so I don’t exactly feel that bad about it!

(also apologies for the phone pic, can’t be bothered to screenshot it lol)

Not going well for me with these recent trials.

I simply cannot find the time in the Ferrari to make up any margin. All the lines requiring 3 wheels off the track are just impossible to get right, especially when the car hits the kerb coming back to the track which completely destabilises everything. Best I've managed is a 1:05.063 which puts me 1566th currently. Won't have time to attempt this one again so I guess that will be it.

What a laugh this Chaparral around Daytona is. At least it didn't take long to get a gold time, which better not improve any further. Current time is a 35.659 which places me 1626th which I'm sure will go down before this trial is over. Part of me thinks this trial is an April Fools day special given the fortnight it covers :odd:

The Dino is a great car but it is a little softly sprung in places, atleast compared to the rally-ready Lancia Stratos which shares its engine (and is also an MR)… Can be quite frustrating when hopping over kerbs

So, finally turned the console on again yesterday to do a couple laps around Daytona. After Lap 1 instantly turned down FFB to 3. First or second lap already in the gold - but quite close, after around 30 laps of which propably 35 ware invalid I managed a low .7, another 30 laps and i made it firmly into the .6s and right in the middle of my friendslist. Sure, a couple of hundreths but hell, gaining another 2/10 seems impossible.
Let's see what time trial we're treated with over the easter days.

I felt that I settled for silver with the Dino (with about 0,9 seconds to gold), but had some time to spare the other night so decided to see if I could improve some more. Rather quickly cut my time with 0.4 seconds but couldn’t really get past that.

So desperate measures had to be made.

Based on what I read in this forum, I changed the colour.

To the fastest color known to man (and woman): orange.

Now, with a faster colour, I already felt an improvement coming in the first lap, and after 15 laps I managed to creep into golden territory, with 1.05,782. With an optimum at 1.05,5. Maybe not safe at the moment, but still a small victory for me. And for the colour orange.
