I found a second on Autopolis last night (still silver though, lol, might've been gold last, can't remember what my time is exactly). Biggest change I made was shifting from nose cam (which I usually use in TTs) to bonnet cam, which allowed me to see further through the corners and have a lot more accuracy. I'm using DS4, so other pad users trying to get that last little push might find a change of perspective helps them too.

Unexpected 30 min session. I fall back on the willow tt and pull down 4 tenths. I'm still a lifetime away, my pb is just off silver, long way to go.... however I figured out a little better a couple of turns and have some ideas for the next attempt. The hook remains a mystery

Ugh. Checked in after a busy few days and found I'd slipped into silver on Autopolis. Started lapping only for my 9 week old to choke on her milk and had to spring into action. Was then showing the mrs a technique I'd seen on a health website to help babies stop choking... baby promptly projectile vomited all over the mrs, her phone, her book, the sofa and the floor. Needless to say I lost an hour to cleaning and now my sofa is in bits with baking soda on it whilst I cross my fingers it won't stink of sicky milk forever.

Anyways. Managed 100 miles and I'm back in gold on a 1:23.654. For christsakes don't let someone lower the bar over night!

I don't know how??

Silver will have to do at Autopolis. Tried 30 laps today, but I couldn't even match my PB of 1:24.195. Even my optimal lap wasn't under 1:24.2xx. Were it not for yesterday's upset, it would have been gold ... Oh well.

Put 10 laps into Streets of Willow. Watched Doodle's lap for any kind of insight and track layout. I have never raced on this configuration, so really just putting a time down. Bronze for now, about 2 seconds off silver. I don't feel like this combo is going to suit me to find a gold lap in 6 more days.

Saves choking baby, then puts down easy gold. I would expect no less from @Blayney. Seriously, glad the baby is okay!

Also, your advice about staying mostly in 3rd gear at Willow was wise. It took a few laps today before I could get used to the Z again after taking the SF23 for one last spin yesterday, but then it started to click. Holy moly this lap felt amazing!

And still it could have been better. An optimal under 15.8. Sector 3 stung a bit.

Yet after that, I still have Raikkonen and Hakkinen well ahead of me...

That was probably the hardest fight for me in the GT7 time trials and it's silver FFS!!!
Absolutely horrible combo for such wonky inputs.

Totally unremarkable two and a half sectors, I was quite behind my ghost and then this "banzai" last two corners before the straight. Overtook my ghost at the entry of the straight with so much speed that I gained a lot of time on this short run to the finish line.

I'm not touching this again, any aliens that decide to better the WR can go **** themselves!

Final push on Autopolis last night. It was an absolute nightmare, taking 35 laps to finally get a solid improvement on my time.

Final time is a 1:23.065 which puts me at 320th at the time of writing this. My optimum was a 1:22.788 which I had for the vast majority of the session as I just could not string a whole lap together. Always I'd have one amazing sector followed by one horrific sector where I would lose 7 tenths or something ridiculous. Even my best lap only have 1 personal best sector being sector 3.

Happy that this Time Trial is now over, not sure my controller or hands would've been able to survive another night of that kind of abuse. My hands were seriously cramped by the end of it and I'm pretty sure I was bending the controller from gripping it so tight.

I have to reluctantly concede defeat at Autopolis, been trying for the past 3-4 hours with no improvements at all.

Considering how much time I put into the effort to get to gold originally (it was A LOT) this last minute upset has kind of put me off the time trials. I already had a silver at this point last week, and could have had that without the hours and hours of grinding that followed. It just wasn’t worth it.

How on earth can you make that progress within 6 laps? I was going round for 2 or 3 hours and only managed to get a tenth up on my record, and every other lap I did was slower. Stuck on 1:24.144.

I had an optimal that was within the new gold bracket, but that was days ago and I couldn’t get close tonight.
I was surprised how quickly I got back in the groove. I always seem to over-perform with the high downforce cars for some reason. My original time of 24.0 had a couple of bad sections in it. But because it was "comfortably" gold at the time, I didn't grind any more.

I literally picked up quarter of a second in turn 1 pretty much every lap and the rest of the time on my best lap was between the double right at the bottom of the hill and the last double left. Even now I would say that turns 1 and 5 and the double right into double left were good but not great. If I really put some more time into it I think I could have cracked a 22.xxx

Streets of Willow however... I am nowhere near gold and can't actually see how I'm going to get there at all. I just cannot make that damned combo click.

That's insane!, that must be scary as ****, glad she's ok!, couches can be replaced.
and still managed to gold it again, that's nuts

Ok, one last try before the flag falls, I had set the alarm at 05:30, 30 minutes extra to focus.
Openend the kitten bench, grabbed coffey and started up.

First laps I was all over the place, and could not get around the first corner properly.
Then suddenly was out of focus due to the running cats and shifted earlier on the straight to 5th and 6th and noticed I had more topspeed than before, after checking it a few times I lost a lot of speed due to the later shifting.

Tried to adapt and ran a 1:23.890 at first that was hopefull, the lap after that a 23.7xx

And out of the blue with a cat hanging in my leg i crossed the line in 1:23.667

K. de Bruin..... eat this 🤣🤣

I'm proud I did it, not the best time, but I did it! My worst fear on PAD! 😁😁

Now it starts all over again, le Mans GR1..... with aliens..... going to be hell, let's see how that turns out, first back to Willow!

I feel you man! I was in the same boat (except I was trying for silver).
In the end I crossed silver boundary by a small margin, but I would be seriously down otherwise as I got the bronze time in like a third lap out there and the arduous grind that followed to cross that silver line was an exhausting and nearly frustrating experience.

For the record. I don't like the two time trials overlapping one bit! Now it's hectic week for Willow and then a probable sad defeat at the Sarthe. I'd like a week off to cool down.

Aliens 10 seconds faster in 3,2,1… 🥲
Another tough one to gold 😬. Well one of the few tracks I feel somewhat fast at compared to top in gr1 so maybe a chance 🤔. But yeah this month I get overdosed with Le Mans.

I've started to grind a bit for credits, mostly on Le Mans. TGR GT Cup on this Sunday, Le Mans. This Saturday I would have had a 2hr race at Le Mans in a one off league event, but cousin has graduation so I miss it. Next week, watching Le Mans from home. Next weekend after that, quali for Le Mans, well I usually do my team's quali in this endurance league. Then last weekend of the month, I do 2-3 stints in a 3-4 man 24 hr race at Le Mans.

Soo yeah, too much of the same track this month? Umm oh yes. So yeah, maybe for this month I should change my screen name from Samppa to Le Mans? 🤔🙃

Bit of a shock this morning to only get a Silver for Autopolis, must have missed KDB going quicker while focusing on the Nations. Gutted but on pad I've never been particularly quick or consistent with the SF cars.

Managed to get a 3.28 in a few laps with the 919 this morning, going to be interesting where the meta goes, the 787 is absolutely rapid on the straights and takes seconds out of the Porsche

So, funny story.

I set my SF23 lap approximately a week ago before going on holiday, a total shock for myself to make a 1.24.0xx

Left it at that, saw it was reasonably clear as a gold time. Checked in occasionally via Remote Play to see how close I was getting to the threshold. Still safe, still safe.

Hadn't even thought about turning on GT7 for my last remaining day off work (Wednesday), apart from JUST BEFORE GOING TO BED. Literally. PJ's on, teeth brushed, bed is getting warmed up by a beautiful lady. I almost spat my toothpaste everywhere... There was no way I was jumping back on, after 8 days away, into that "thing", and trying to find another tenth and a half.

Here are some statistics for TT28 in the Super Formula SF23 at Autopolis International Racing Course.

Highlights:
  • Participation was above average, but more than 20k below the peak we saw at Fuji in Gr.3 cars. I appreciate the link to real life events, but with the recent three events being tough (the most recent two very tough) and the current two also very tough, I can't help but feel some players will be alienated from TTs.
  • Overall this was a tough TT, with a few extremely quick times at the front spreading the field. Only 2.46% of drivers got gold.
  • Half of all drivers got no reward - I refer you back to bullet 1 above.
TT-main table.jpg
TT-comparison.jpg

Drivers with gold in all TTs
The number of drivers with gold in all TTs to date dropped from 134 to 130.

As usual I've split the graphs because the high early numbers mean the later low numbers are barely legible when all the data is on one graph.

Nope.
TT-easy.jpg
  • Real life has been getting in the way, so I've not spent as much time on TTs as I've wanted to. That shows a bit in the results.
  • My time at Autopolis of 1:23.331 left me in position 615, which was in the top 0.45%.
  • Gap to first (2.31%, so the gold streak continues) and gap to #100 (0.86%) were above my overall averages.
  • I will also not spend more time at Willow Springs; think my time should hold for gold.
  • And I'll be away on holiday from the weekend, so will miss the bulk of the Le Mans event; might get a session in before I go.

3 bronzes in a row - I'd like to break that streak before it becomes a habit. Can't get my head round the reverse Willow so it'll have to be Le Mans. Done enough grinding laps there. Hopefully the 787 is the meta - I much prefer it over the hybrids or the VGTs.
