I should be happy with this time, but it easily could have been better. Sector 1 was terrible. Optimal lap was a .499. And I'm still behind both @Evilmuffin and @Gomario JSP. :irked:

Looks like you will hit the .5s next week. I tried another short stint in the afternoon and nothing was clicking. Wasn't even able to get in the 20s 🫠

I would love to get into the .5s. Turn 1 is huge, though, and I really struggled to have a decent first sector all session long. That meant .5 wasn't going to be in the books today. Most of the time I was in the .8's or even .9s in sector 1. Not exactly speedy when you're aiming for a mid 1:20 overall. :boggled: In the rare instances I did get the first sector right, I of course would completely jack up the chicane or get a bad exit out of the carousel.

I feel you on those days where nothing is clicking. It makes you wonder why? The next day you will be hitting all cylinders (no pun intended) and running constantly fast laps.

The Alpine is very much my kind of a car, but matching the ever more common aliens in here might take more time on the track than I have available :guilty:. Improving my 1:20.881 shouldn't be difficult, but I don't think a sub .700 is very realistic. I'm away this whole week, so only going to have time for maybe two sessions the following week.

I'm a bit torn by the competitive level here. Don't get me wrong, it's super cool and inspiring seeing top100 drivers exchanging notes and lap time jabs, but getting sucked into it takes away from what I play GT7 for: having relaxing fun with cars.

Also, in the following weeks a lot of my sim time is going to be consumed by building a completely new rig. First alu profile rig and changing from Thrustmaster system to Fanatec, so might take a while to get it all set. But investing that time and money on GT7 will keep me locked here far into the future, so I'll pop up evey now and then. Knowing how to pick my fights etc.
Lol yeah I’m new to this community and haven’t played GT seriously since back in GT4 days. I’m loving GT7 and after posting in the 911 and GT3 time trials I’ve decided the only person I should try to compete with is myself while trying to nudge gold every now and again 😂.
These times are extremely impressive and there ain’t no way I’m getting that fast nor will I uphold that kind of driving in single player or multiplayer!
Thankfully the old way of playing GT is still alive and well in GT7, love racing my ghosts and driving/admiring all sorts of cars.

Been a while since I've had a good go at the TTs, because of work and the damn kitten eating cables (7 in the past two weeks now 😂).

So got online on Saturday and spent 45 mins in the Alpine...

Session one was a bit hit and miss just tipping over the curb at the exit of turn one but kept going to get used to it.

Session two I loaded a fast ghost and put ABS onto weak as having it off was making me lose time on the first and last corner.

Been a while since I've seen gold

Moved onto Willow and tried the Citroen which got into silver on the second lap but only just, tried about 5 more laps but just couldn't find any more seconds and then it happened... Not a gold time but the inevitable 😂

So I jumped into the BRZ and made lots of time within the first lap, by lap 3 I was well into gold on this too

Not seen two golds in a long time, let alone the same day within under 1hr 45mins online...

Then I went off to do the weekly challenges instead of the license tests for an easy time and took the LFA around Tokyo (in gold 😉).

I don't think that both golds will stick as there is a lot of time to be found in those TTs by the aliens... but the paint on my LFA will 😝

Wow, what a 2-hour journey that was, did you see my latest video at WG?

Same here, seems to be workflow..... 🤣🤣 had an hour session this morning, had 2 laps in the 20.7 and lots of .8xx but the magic just didn't happen, every session it's an corner that bites me, I was on fire on the busstop today, but T1 and the last freaking corner werent kind today, but man we are all close on the board 🤣🤣, no room for error anymore here, and ill restart immediately if I'm not satisfied with S1 🤣🤣

So @Evilmuffin ..... you're good, should be an evil laugh wake up for you 🤣🤣

This will be my highest placing in anything GR3. Wont get another chance to have any additional laps at Willow as I am away for this week.
I would have loved to have been able to achieve that optimal of 1:12:048 but I am never consistent enough to string it all together.
Happy lapping to everyone!!

Hi,

@Gogga....

I have the exact same problem here - As, I suspect, do many! Daytona and Willow have been great fun for me. I feel to have hit my "skill ceiling" though. I am hoping that some new Fanatec equipment will allow me to raise my game a little. Namely a DD wheel and some load cell pedals. They should be here soon.

While I doubt it will make me an Alien. I hope it will make me just a little bit more strange!!! :D

Best regards to all here.

Ian.

Nice!, congratulations on your highest placing!

Chuffed, made silver at the Willows, of all places, in the Renault! Hope it holds!

I have followed leader's ghosts before but didn't find it that useful as they'd gone after the first corner 🤣
Tried it again today and realised he got even further ahead on the first right-hander, so I was way too slow there.

It also helped in that it gave me something to chase!

Hi Ian

Super jealous that you guys have access to all this fancy equipment. I enquired with Logitech South Africa about Logitech G Pro and apparently there is no market for it here so its not available for the foreseeable future. Still rocking my 8 year old G29. Thinking of going the AXC Sim route with the 'load cell' brake kit upgrade.

Have fun with your new setup mate. Even if it does not make you faster, I am sure that it will put the biggest smile on your face!!

So now I need 3 thousandths to get back above you. 🍻🍻🍻

Thanks Gomario!
Weirdly enough my highest finishing position is 250 at Lake Louise in the snow. I loved that TT.
I am not a fan of anything with high downforce. I am never consistent in these cars.
You are not alone, I am not fond of it either, there's so much sliding in the snow it's hard to get the car to go where you want it to.

I seen that 1:12:214
Please don't as I am away and cant chase any more :lol::lol:
Even if I have time there is little guarantee I can. I'm about at my limit I think. I've def done the individual sectors a tiny bit faster but getting it on the board isn't so easy. No promises but you are probably safe. 😂

I also find it difficult to be consistent. The final turn is a proper gamble. Messed up so many times in that final sector.
Its nice competing on this GTP Leader Boards. Prior to this, it was a safe gold and done. Nowadays its "I must go faster!!!!"'

@half_sourly thanks for your epic work. I cant imagine the effort you have put in and continue to put in to breath some much needed life into GT7.
I am sure many others here share the exact same sentiment

If he is gone after fist corner it probably means that you are braking too much in first corner. In video from MistahMCA you can see how he is doing it. Video shown down in this post.

( If you want to study video, go on settings (cog wheel) in YouTube and you can select playback speed, drop it down to 0,25 of speed and then in video watch lap time timer in the middle of the screen. Count time shown in miliseconds and at same time check when he is pressing brakes.)

We can see 100 meter board on right hand side and starting braking just after 100 meter board. So he is exactly at 03 seconds of the lap time when he hits the brakes to 100%
*Edit, shift down to 4th gear
and then after half a second he starts releasing brakes to reach 50% of braking power when lap time approximately reaches 4 seconds. That means hit full power for half a second, release gently during next half of a second to reach 50% of brake power. Then after first second of braking, slowly release from 50% of braking power to no brakes at all until you reach just before apex, and that takes just a bit more than half a second.

I assume you are turning in by 50 meter board, trying to touch apex with left front wheel, and full acceleration as you hit apex, right.

Practice just first corner until you keep up with the ghost. If he is gone after T1, that means he was not braking so much as you did, so try to press brake a bit shorter time in next attempt, if he is still gone then shorter brake press in next attempt, until you are there at same distance to the ghost after first turn.

When you have mastered first turn, you can try same approach to T2 and so on to try to keep same distance to ghost before and after turn.

You got this champion!

Uh-oh. The silver time was gone down to 1'23.992, I hope my 1'23.768 time will hold but I'm not 100% sure. I know how to set the playback speed on Youtube, I've been doing 0.75.
