Wow, that's a unique set-up. Is that your bedroom or den? Is that your Dell laptop hooked in to the wheel/equipment?

I'm getting extremely frustrated and agitated at the Fuji TT.
Not the den because the kitten has taken control of that room 🤣

That's just a Dell monitor, which also has teeth marks inthe power cable strangely enough 😂

I find it pleasant to drive, just frustrated to be stuck at 1:35 most of the time while my best lap is close to the gold time. My first lap of this session was nearly the best, until lap 6...
It is good fun because I could improve step by step and knew what to do. Again following ghosts and watching faster lap times were the key for me.

I brake too much before turn 7 and after the start of the third sector. On the straight I shifted to early into fifth gear. Sounds ridiculous but that helped me to gain about 5 tenths!

You are modest regarding your driving skills but I know you as an titan who can do it! 💪

You wrote before that you lost after Coca Cola.
At the loooong righthander IMO it's all about throttle control to keep the grip limit and before the following hairpin I lost time braking too late having a bad line then. Same holds for Dunlop where a bad line punishes you for several following turns.

But don't believe me. I was nearly laped by @Gorefast 😂

Enjoy

P. S. I rent the car. You never know...

Lol, I didn't even notice the toilet lid!!

EDIT: Oh wait, now I did, xD. I thought of that but that would be uncomfortable for me, I sit on the couch/sofa.

Found another 200 ms at Suzuka :D

I went sideways in T1, but was surprised to find that it was still good enough for a sub 28 second first sector, which I don't get too often. Hairpin and spoon are where I feel like I lose most time, maybe a 1:38.x is possible if I nail those. What made the lap was a pretty flawless execution of @Dan_Tes patented flat-out-down-shift-to-5th move for 130R (thanks again ;)). I had 4-5 slower laps right before that where I always spun off the track, but right when it counted, it somehow worked out. It's usually the opposite, I guess I lucked out for once 😂

Very much enjoying my extremely rare interim podium spot on my friend board. I realise it's partly because some of you very fast guys just took gold and ran, but I'll take it ;)

I'm the first to criticise the ridiculousness of these VGT monstrosities, but this combo I find somehow weirdly addictive. 🤷‍♂️

Happy lapping everyone!

I've just spent around 2 hours on Fuji and I am still 0.1xx slower than my controller time.

The car is much easier to control on the wheel though, which is confusing as to why I'm not quicker, it certainly feels it.

Optimal was 1:33.126 which is quicker than my current time.

I also tried Suzuka which was fun 👀 controlled slides through 130R was actually ok on the wheel, but only spent 6 laps there and 0.2xx behind my control time at 1:41.5xx so still way off gold.

I have seen in the physics thread about people saying the force feedback has been nerfed on various wheels and I completely agree because, with the G29 on full feedback, I am not feeling a lot of resistance in corners which is causing me to understeer and it's hard to get the angle just right which is most likely where I am struggling to gain time.

Both of the TTs are on RM and RS tires but feel like CS.

It's pretty annoying as the GT-One seams to be beautiful to drive on this.

I have just tried the force feedback on another game and theres no issues there.

Might stay on the controller for GT7 for a while again. 😔

That should be a safe gold time. I need to find a few tenths for safety.

I'll wait until Thursday or Friday to start hot lapping at Suzuka. I have to take one step at a time, I'm focusing on finding the perfect reference points for Fuji. I don't know if I'll ever master the third sector.

I posted a private conversation about it for only 10 of you, just saying. I am extremely agitated and annoyed by the way Sector 3 is built. Who in their right mind would construct it that way. It is an awkward section with crazy corners.

Pretty certain this Suzuka TT shoulda' been called "Streakbreaker". Think I was on a silver or higher streak for some time now and I don't think I'm gonna get out of bronze this go 'round. Lose the battery before I come close to finding a groove and have to restart to get it back. And here I thought I was fairly comfortable at Suzuka too. Since I didn't buy this one I'm gonna blame the lack of an aftermarket paint-job.

I wonder how many people are dealing with screen latency issues that they aren't aware of because of a setting on their TV (many can cause it), or how it's hooked up through a receiver with eARC or something like that? I bet the answer is not zero. I just wonder if that causes some people to not get good results when they otherwise would be consistently faster? I'm procrastinating on Suzuka, love the track, but I've driven that car before and I hated it!

Hello friends!! I had a sort of weekend off even though I was at home; with friends staying a lot of laps were done in the sim but very few by me. Was a real treat to see other people enjoying it though! One thing that did happen is unfortunately I had a few Fuji laps (to show off lol) and accidentally left countersteer strong on; five or six laps later I was setting new personal bests despite one too many glasses of Malbec..! I just assumed I was a driving god and couldn’t stop getting faster and left it at that.

Anywayssss sadly for me it got my mind ticking so I’ve ended up setting a few laps with steery cheat mode on and alas it has made me faster! Not just faster but consistent too, I ended up banging out consistent laps near my PB. There’s something about it that makes countersteering feel a lot more natural than with it off when you get oversteering RWD cars; I have a theory that it’s to do with the physics of the controller and trying to accommodate oversteer corrections on a controller. Always feels like a bigger correction on the wheel than is necessary and yet on a controller I just slam the stick the opposite way and conduct a perfect slide; I’d be interested to know what people who spend more time than me going sideways in the real world think! I do spend a lot of time going sideways though lol 😇😅

Anyways irrespective of my thoughts; I know I’m a fraud.. just turns out a fast fraud! 😂😂 Think I’ve bagged myself another 👽 time and now on back to Suzuka and wrestle the beast as I won’t have any time to commit to this trial beyond Friday 😊

Happy lapping everyone!!

Nice job, man. What's your S2 split on that 31.424 time?

Interesting question. I think the impact is not as big as in other games or even when driving a race with opponents because success is less about quick reaction and more about executing a plan. If reaction time played a big role, us 40+ or older players would hardly perform as well compared to the overall player base. I might be totally wrong about this though :D

As someone mentioned before Chris, if the fun is gone, stop it.

That's what I did about Fuji anyways. 😅
Well I think I'm stopping it soon. I'll just have to take my bronze. And sell enough cars for a value of 1.75M to cover the money I did not earn from the gold territory. It wouldn't hurt to see how far I can go with this.
