I think @Tidgney is a very good example here. I like his smile as you know, but also his attitude.
He always uploads his replays (and once said in a video that every top driver should do this - I hope I remember correctly).
To be fair though, he is not in it for the top spot (even if he often gets close), the whole point is to provide a lap guide for his channel, so not sharing the replay would be a really weird choice. Anyway, I will never be in this situation, so hard to say what I would do, but I can understand that you have to be really competitive to be up there.

I don't get this countersteer thing. With DS4 (TC 2), if I switch to weak or strong (it's always off) I'm almost if not more than 1 second slower, losing a lot of time on exit...
It's too bad it's not in the data so we can't have statistics on it, but it more and more seems to be the case that CSA is only relevant for wheel users, to the point where even top players are not slower with it (at least for some combos), whereas it does nothing for controller users.
I suppose countersteer and traction control should be used either/or, not in combination.
Can't confirm this. I use TC1 and CSA strong at Suzuka. They also do very different things. CSA can help you in fast corners where traction is not an issue.

I’m not sure CSA will really help on the controller, I’m pretty sure when I used to use a pad I never used it as it just made me over control/messy as if I was almost fighting it

On a wheel for me it filters out a lot of the aggressive/unnatural feeling countersteering inputs that a lot of these rear wheel drive cars need to be fast; that’s just a personal preference and only on a few car/track combos

The Toyota at Fuji is a weird one but when I accidentally left it on I found I was able to be much more confident getting the power on in slow corner exits.

I would suggest trying every assist off and see where you are, traction control would always be my first port of call personally and just edge it up gently if necessary.

I think I can only remember one timetrial where Countersteering on controller was realy effective, only one corner btw...
That was T1 at Daytona with the NSX

I remember I used it too at Interlagos, believe GR2 ?.... i was faster with it then but I should be faster without it now If I were run the same again.

Lots of the time it just makes the steering tighter or something and slower during hairpins etc, like with the Dino you got more tankslapping with it on and lost all the slide finess you needed to have

I can't confirm this, at least here in Fuji/TS020 combo it helps a lot with controller.
Never tried hard enough but when I started with no CSA I was really struggling with laps in 1:34 range and on almost every corner exit I had to lift and wait for the car to set itself straight or else I would spin. Whereas after turning it on, it calmed to the point I was instantly in gold range, eventually dropping to 32s.

Also in the Genesis/Bathurst combo it helped a lot in the uphill/downhill parts.

That might also be dependent on user's level, as @Gomario JSP has different experience in contrast to myself, more "down-to-earth" being ;)

I almost always use CSA on "Weak" and find it helps add a tiny correction when cars are getting loose on the rear, keeping the car more in control.

I found CSA to be very effective on controller with the Dino. Found it to be helpful in keeping the car sliding smoothly - when I turned it off I'd lose more traction than using CSA on weak where it would correct slightly to keep the car sliding in a controlled manner, as opposed to over-sliding and losing momentum.

I tend to only use CSA on twitchy cars, especially when using some of the lesser tyre compounds.

I can say that it does can help if you are on controller with motion control.

@Meythia I can use both TC & CSA at same time without problems when needed (read McLaren VGT at Suzuka :) ) but on some other car/track combos car behaves nicely without any assist what so ever even with controller on motion sensor and then having TC off is beneficial

My "would-like-to-be" default is no help other than Brake assist
Usually I can keep with it but if I feel I cannot be consistent than I help myself a bit
For example:
Dino - TS1+CSA
Fuji - TS1
Suzuka - TS1

I don't feel any better adding CSA at fuji/suzuka. I don't think it would slow me down adding, but I give a privilege to my narcissism and keep it off
Dino was a totally different story. The CSA microstuff was very helpfull in giving me more confidence. I'd say that it never had huge correction, but the micro ones have been as under-the-radar as they have been crucial

I'm on wheel and average skills

With GT Sport + controller I don't think I'd been able to survive without both of them

You're an alien, directionals steering and X throttle = "down-to-Mars". :P
yes I confirm, @tmtk come from Mars

I haven't actually spent time on the Suzuki TT as I was doing the weekly challenges and daily races on the weekend so only spent around 20 minutes with the Mclaren and after reading some of these comments I have only just realised I only put counter steering to weak instead of strong.

@Barareklam my controller settings are currently at:

Although the Wife is away most of this week so this has been set up in the bedroom 😉

Can't leave it set up in the spare room due to the cable munching kitten who loves that room 😔
Definitely at right forum, half of people here have cats, I have even seen photos of them. I however don't have any cat so I can't give any suggestions, but isn't it possible to spray those cables with something so cats don't bite them? I think I have heard about something like that. And to admin, we are definitely talking about Time Trials topics here 😁

I think I may have been the one who started all the cat pictures in this thread 😂

This kitten just doesn't seem to shy away from anything, tried all different things that cats 'don't' like (hiding the cucumber behind him, tinfoil on surfaces, etc) but he just thinks it's all games 🤦🏻‍♂️😂

Around 80kms and time improvement. Still need to find 1s to secure gold and close to no time to drive this one, as I tend to focus on new tt. Only if I bank easy gold on new tt then I'll come back to this one :) This landed me right in the middle of my leaderboard. The lap felt slow as heck and I was surprised at the finish line.

.as for cats and wives.. my wife has no problem that my rig is 90% of the time set up in the middle of the living room... but one of my cats has problem with me driving on my wheel as she loves to jump and sit on my lap as soon as I sit down.

Wow, that's a unique set-up. Is that your bedroom or den? Is that your Dell laptop hooked in to the wheel/equipment?

I'm getting extremely frustrated and agitated at the Fuji TT.
