Good improvement on this 2nd stint.

Still a BIG second from current gold, but maybe...

Well, this won’t last but I’m pleased to get gold in my first session. The car’s a little tricky to drive but it’s interesting nonetheless.

It’s cool with these time trials you get to learn each cars nuance. That’s what makes them fun.
I agree on learning about the cars.

Not a massive fan of asking a car to turn and it saying "no thank you, not today...." And instantly then changing it's mind and saying "actually now I'm gonna turn loads as you tickled the loud pedal" but I agree it makes it a challenge!

Spent an hour or so on GT7 the real yacht simulator.
I don't know how much more I can extract, but usual rules apply, 3 sessions, no improvement, sayonara. So we'll see.
If @Dan_Tes says 2 tenths is only one good corner exit, everyone has my permission to take him down to either of the Autopolis hairpins, do several donuts with him attached to their bumper and then shoot him with his own phaser.

Not too bad, fairly happy with that considering the amount of rust I had to knock off.

Really enjoyable combo, haven't put this many miles into a time trial for a good few months. I'm one of the few who really enjoys Autopolis, amazing track in near enough any car I reckon.

Hello there!

Late night time trial session with a nice gain. 2:01:896

The lap:

I lost at least a tenth at the hairpin in S2 and I can get at least another tenth quicker in S1. Now... If I can put all together is another thing completely.

My thoughts:
  • this is not a difficult combo to gold, however just like Interlagos (the other current TT) it is hard to find more time as you progress more and more. Both tracks are super technical in my opinion.
  • in this session I kept restarting over and over because I believed I was hitting the start line faster this way. In my first sessions as soon the game gives me the control I was keeping the car in 2nd gear while negotiating the right and left before the straight. Now I keep it on 3rd and I try to not hit below 100kms.
  • also I'm more aware of the spots where I have to let the car roll, and not use the throttle. It is counter intuitive for a slow driver like me, but it works.
  • you guys lapping in the 2:00's are crazy fast!😅

Morning folks,

Had a pre-fishingtrip stint in the Viper this morning, it just get more infuriating trying to get the boat rotated, I wonder how this would drive IRL, it can't be this bad right?,

That said, I found key to this combo is trying to hold yourself back, slow in is fast out....
Don't push to hard, the car just doesn't work that way ...be patiënt and give it some steady rpm instead of pumping the padle...

Little time gained , I'm out .... fishing 😁

Found another 2 tenths! Opt now 0.6. Changed my inputs by slowing them down rather than being aggressive.
I'm glad you found 2 others tenths here. Your score is simply impressive (to me).
You're so close to the abduction... 👽

This combo is a soapy dream. @Pesselles do with that information what you will.
I have some ideas about what to do with this information but I'm afraid it won't help me to be faster...

soapy dream, really?

Guys my g29 looks dead. When I plug in on ps5 nothing happens. I have the feeling that the ac dc converter is gone. But even though I remember that plugged to ps5 even without power something happens. Now nothing
As far as I recall, all the G29's buttons and steering work fine with the AC adapter turned off. There is only no ffb when it's not plugged into power. I may me mistaken here, so maybe someone with a G29 can check this for you.

This is what I recall too, or at least some feature that allows me to understand something. But nothing happens. No green light turned on, no calibration, no reactions when I press the ps button.

On going now to install ghub on the pc to test what I can see connecting to windows

Hi,

@zjn...

I have tried a search for parts for the G29. There ain't much out there I can find I'm afraid. This could be time to upgrade???😎

I love the Time Trials. They are my favourite part of Gran Turismo 7. It's you against the clock. This really floats my boat because I was heavily involved in the British Hillclimb Championship many many moons ago. 1 driver. 1 machine. 1 track - No one else to blame and a totally level playing field. (not withstanding the discussion about pad and wheel and type of wheel )

Yes. They are frustrating. NO! They are not easy. I, like many of you folks, come here for inspiration, clues, guides and the general esprit de corps that exists a plenty here. It's a wonderful and beautiful little corner of the internet. Long may that continue!!!

Every now and then something really magical takes place. A moment to savour and remember. A moment like this.....

I shan't use any expletives and please don't ask me how I managed this because I haven't got a clue!!! The triumphant yell scared the wife and the dogs though!

Best regards to all here.

Ian.

Here's another weekly report incoming:
Gran Turismo™ 7_20241031112335.jpg

Despite being "only" Silver, this is actually my highest placing on the scoreboards! Never before have I been this close to the top 10000, I really wanted to gain a few more tenths and maybe get a little closer to the Gold medal, but unfortunately I just couldn't put together a decent lap to do so.
I was consistently improving at sector 1 and sometimes sector 2 as well, but the final sector as always been my nemesis, especially that godforsaken chicane before the the last turn... :irked:
Either way, I'm very pleased with this outcome.

So with another million in my pocket, I went to the lovely Interlagos to try this VERY Vulcanic Aston:
Gran Turismo™ 7_20241031115345.jpg

Before anything else, I have to say: I love Interlagos! :P
I mean it... I've never raced in this track in any other game before GT7, and curiously enough, my 1st time here was at another Time Trial, the one with the (also lovely) Jag XJ13 and back then I also scored a Silver after a few laps.
I really appreciate the way this track flows, it's technical but also very fun and a pleasant experience.
The car can get a little feisty if you don't respect it, it takes some "finesse" to drive it properly and keeping it under control.
The lap time... well, this is where I'm standing atm, I'd like to improve a bit more but I'm afraid it'll be very hard, I'm kinda reaching my ceiling here, I will give it a few more laps and we'll see where it takes me.

Some more details...
220 Ac is reaching the ac dc converter
X DC (don't recall the figure) is reaching the plug under the wheel hood
So I doesn't look to by a power supply issue
No green led, no calibration, no activity of any sort when plugged to ps5, no identification when plugged to pc equipped with ghub.

Unless there is something I am not aware off I'd say it's a wheel base failure

@Ian JB no upgrade foreseen in the near future. It will be g29 or nothing

Sounds like a wheel base failure, there might be a loose solder joint somewhere causing the wheel not to get power.... or the usb cable has broken down somewhere

Autopolis-Viper-10laps-1.jpg

First "serious" stint at Autopolis. Not sure what I did with TC but I found myself in TC4 around lap 6 or 7, lowered it after that and gain immediately with better exits. Did not prevent me for doing stupid things or endure the horrendous oversteer of this boat.

Driving in AT I often wish I can drop a gear, as I fear to stall the engine by being so low in RPM (and it has difficulties accelerating). I need to try without 0 TC to compensate.

Comfortably in silver and gold seem reachable, optimal is half a second from gold. But not sure I'll have the patience, I find this combo pretty annoying and frustrating to drive.
