I am speaking about this one (stability management).

Yeah, ASM (active stability management in English). I doubt that’ll be of benefit here though, I think it only works somewhat OK if the car has an absolute abundance of power (the McLaren VGT at Suzuka was a TT where I used that), which a Gr.4 car really doesn’t — the opposite if something. That said, I’ll try anything here. Miles off pace.

Ok, I checked, I have CSA set to weak, and ABS default.
I discovered a while back that setting ABS to 'weak' instead of 'default' helped turn in on Gr. 3. cars. Ever since then I've been using that as my standard setting, and haven't had any issues. This might be just a matter of driving style.

I've never really experimented with CSA. Seeing that many of you use it sometimes, I may have to try and see if it makes any difference and can lead to faster times in some cars.

ASM I've always thought was a fairly artificial setting and would tend to slow you down, so I've never used it, primarily because it makes the experience feel unnatural.

ASM may work very rarely (gave an example above), threw it on for a couple of laps here and it’s absolute trash, as expected. Can’t manage anything worth mentioning. I don’t see any benefit of CSA either. Again, the car is waaaay too slow and has so much grip, it’s like driving on rails. God, the more I drive this TT, the angrier I get.

Hey guys, it’s been a while since I have last posted, hope you all are well! Did get Gold in the past few TTs though couldn’t spend as much time as I would have liked to push myself further up the leaderboard - you guys are getting much quicker these days!!

I am actually massively struggling with this Megane time trial - FF cars are never my thing and I would prefer watching a race on Goodwood rather than driving around. My current best is 1:25.2 which is quite a bit off the 1:24’s many of you managed, almost as if I aren’t aggressive enough and under drive the car quite a bit.

Would be great if I can have some pointers from you all.

I was really THIS close from having my lap invalidated…

You’ll soon realize that using a wheel doesn’t make you faster, as controllers offer a lot of built-in assistance. That’s been my experience when switching from a controller to a wheel.
I know some people definitely are, I'm not one of them though. 🤷‍♂️ Even though I still like to play with DualSense for fun since GT1 on OG PS, I'm almost always faster with wheel especially since I use VR with wheel and flat screen with controller. On the rare occasion I won't be able to beat my pad lap with wheel though. But it boggles my mind how someone can be so fast with a controller but I have seen the laps.. they can be alien fast. But i also quit using manual shift on pad when I switched to analog throttle and brake a long time ago, so that slows me way down with controller sometimes. I always use manual shift w/ wheel. My hands cramp up pretty fast trying to manually shift on pad.

That’s great that you’re faster with the wheel. I’ve had the same struggle trying to beat my pad lap times sometimes, especially in short license tests with just a couple of corners. On longer tracks, I actually think controllers might be faster—if I could match the precision I have with the wheel. What surprises me the most is that even when I know I’ve driven badly on the pad, I’m usually only a few tenths slower than my best wheel time.

There’s one test that totally blew my mind. In the recently released "My First Gran Turismo," I tried the A-3 test—it’s just one corner—and I couldn’t believe how much slower I was on the wheel compared to the pad.

No matter how hard I pushed with the wheel, I was consistently losing around 3 tenths. On the pad, though, I smashed my wheel time on every single attempt. For this test, beating my wheel time with the pad was a breeze, but trying to match it with the wheel felt like an uphill battle.

There’s got to be something I’m missing when it comes to proper turning with the wheel, but I usually rank around 250–350 in time trials with the wheel, so I thought I was doing alright. But losing 3 tenths in a single corner—to myself—has me rethinking that.

As for those alien-fast pad users, I think it really just depends on the person. It’s kind of like aiming with a controller versus a mouse—most people are better with a mouse, but there are always some people who are just insanely good with a controller. Same thing here.

Forgot to post this last night - ran a second stint with the Huracan and got a time I'm happy with. I might try with a couple of other cars tomorrow for fun if I have time or maybe try to improve this time with the Lambo.

As to the pad vs. wheel discussion, I don't play GT7 as a just a game to play. I play it for the realism, so it's wheel and VR for me all the way. I get no enjoyment out of driving with the pad controller.

Morning folks,

I noticed the CSA steery cheat mode discussion and like @NAXEHT I just never use it, I see no benefit in it and feels a bit strange to me, but... indeed the fast high downforce cars have some benefit under it, altho I don't know if it realy helps.....

But as I struggle with the Goodwood chicane of terror and already gave up I thought why not.... slap it on on the Megane and see what it does on the pad, and it did something for me 🤣 more consistent on S1+S2 and way more reasonably chicane exits.
So I was a bit surprised, I think it eliminates just a tiny bit of slide with my drivingstyle, plus i dit go to ABS standard, so kind of a different approach this morning..

Stil more that a tenth slower than the OPT this morning but ill take it 🤣, chicane was close though.....

But after some .8 and .7 laps I finally nailed the chicane and licking the .6 😁🤣 ( sorry @crome )
Hope this sticks for a top 100 again, I'm trying to collect them 🤣

Next..... 😁

Happy days folks,

Unfortunately I had less seat time than wanted in Lago Maggiore and returned yesterday for a second and already last stint over 15 laps. So I went this time with the herd and chose the Lamborghini, too.

PB before was 2:08:0xx and I wasn't too happy with the first lap being 2:09:xxx... But every lap I could improve one corner or sector and thanks to the ghost of @Saargasm I could see where I gained and lost some time.

To keep this short I ended up there:

I had the goal of a sub-07 lap time at the beginning and was very happy as I reached this. In deed I was so hyped that I forgot to save (and share) this lap and that's a pity. On the other hand I was proud to see myself being close to @MUC76 and just didn't pass because I didn't want to hurt your feelings, mate! 😂

Now let's see what's coming up next. Hopefully I don't have to go Goodwood track that looks boring but is quite difficult in my opinion. @Lomic : you can do it!

I definitely can't.

Tried this morning with zero assists.

TT-LM-Gr4-10laps-11-Huracan.jpg

Last turn is much worse for me with no CSA, it is already coin flip usually, now it is 1 in 10 that does not end up in 0.5s lost.

Plus I found ways of invalidating the lap I couldn't think possible (like entering T11)

115 laps until now and I am fed up with this TT, it does not click for me.

Your optimum lap tells a different story... There are many ghosts to show how the final lap needs to be taken. It was difficult for me, too, but as I went full throttle towards the outside exit (that piece of tarmac beyond the line) I could gain the missing tenths.

Knowing your speed it is hard for me to accept that you won't get that "hell yeah!" moment. Silver doesn't fit very well with Spiderman I think...

I am following @Pesselles' ghost which is a 2:05.5X if my memory is correct so around 2s faster than me, I think it is fast enough so I can keep quite close contact with the ghost most of the lap (thanks to resets)

My optimal from all best sectors is 2:06.176 but I allways bin one or more sectors in a good lap, mostly because some turns are coin flips lap after lap and I never get them right all in the same lap.

Just watched again @Tidgney's lap guide, I find it crazy that he barely hits the brakes in last turn. I will watch my replay to try to spot some differences. I'd say I brake too much instead of using aero to coast around turns without decelerating too much.

I don't have the replay of my best lap but at least I have a 2:07.485 which is not that far and must show all the things I do wrong to be stuck to that 2:08 wall.

Uploaded my replay to Youtube so I can watch it alongside @Tidgney's

Noticed something I already noticed : all the video I upload to Youtube have a white veil, check both screen caps below :
comparo.png

Wether I directly share them from the PS5 or copy them on USB key then upload to Youtube from my computer, it is the same.

And the video copied on USB does not have this veil on my computer, the veil appears after uploading it to Youtube.

Does someone have any idea what could cause that ?

By the way thanks a lot @Tidgney for showing the speed in km/h and mph ! It is extremely convenient !

If you alter the videos on PC, it looks like the software you are using would be causing the issue.
Very likely there is a setting you could change to bring back all the colours.
I don't do anything to the vid on my PC, just copy it from USB then upload to Youtube. The result is exactly the same when I share it directly from PS5.

If HDR on console is the issue, the veil should show on PC, or not ?

I think I missed that also directly sharing from the console will cause the washed out quality.
I never really paid any attention to it, but this also is the case for my uploads - after having a more detailed look at it.
The initial thumbnail is full quality but as soon as playback starts it loses colour.

Like I said, try turning the HDR off on the console, then record and upload and check the difference :)
Just did that (turn off HDR, launch replay, record it and shared it) and it is the same :
With HDR :

Without HDR :

Turned off HDR from PS5 settings.

And video copied on USB key and opened on PC is ok.

And of course display on TV is worse without HDR.

Happy that it is not the cause, would be annoying to have to turn off HDR each time.
