Hello guys
Time to show off my recently earned medals, starting with the Focus/Atlanta combo:
After turning CSA off and switching from ABS Weak to Default, I've suddenly shaved an extra 0.422 off my previous PB, which turned my "shaky" Gold into a much safer Gold.
Really liked this combo, although it became a bit frustating at times... Road Atlanta is already quite challenging on its own, then add this understeery and heavy AWD to the mix and you're all set for a whole lot of swearing, but when you do get it right it's just magic!
Moving on to Daytona with the Gr.3 class, this is where I am atm:
Right... one thing I'm starting to realize after participating in quite a lot of Time Trials of all "shapes and sizes", is that TTs with racing cars just aren't my thing.
The main reason has to be skill, or the lack of it on my end...
Maybe it's because of the racing cars, which tend to have a much more "polished" behavior than their road-going versions, the top players always tend to reach even higher with them and post crazier lap times... the bar is always set VERY high, much higher than where my skills can take me.
With road cars, this isn't so obvious due to the nature of what we're driving so that's why I usually perform better at those Time Trials with road cars.
And of course, there's the "personal taste" factor... and as far as I'm concerned, I very much prefer driving road cars and really appreciate the challenge of getting to know them on the track, it's almost as if they have "personality".
Driving a race car... it's just a different kind of challenge.
To me, Gran Turismo is all about getting behind the wheel of road cars, trucks, even vans and ambulances! Sure the game always had some pretty iconic race cars and all that, but just give me a road car and I'll be happy.
Long story short: I won't be coming back to this one, the combo doesn't captivate me enough to go back, and on top of that, I don't see myself improving much more, so I'll just take my million credits and cash out.
How could I even spend any more time at Daytona when there's a Testarossa to throw around Brands Hatch? HOW?!
Now this is more like it!
It's another tricky combo, and this thing also likes to understeer... and oversteer occasionally
Only made some 15 laps, but right from the start it has become clear that this time there won't be a Gold medal for me.
I know I'm making quite a few mistakes, but reaching the Gold territory might be a really tall order.
Still need to play around with my settings a little bit, I'm using TCS 1 combined with CSA Weak and a low Steering Sensitivity of 2.
Might switch to CSA Strong and turn off the TCS to see what happens.
