I was about to give this TT a go when I realised I don't have the car... and found it a bit expensive in the brand central lol.
GT7 the real cheapskate simulator.

I'll try and do it at some point but I think the community is already well set with Hobson's and Yossi's sub-7'40'' marks. I don't think that will be beaten until some bigger names join in imo.

I think people saying that Grimm66jack got a bit ahead of himself with his times and comments post are right.
Hobson is a top-tier TT driver, maybe not the absolute fastest on all tracks but up definitely there with the big boys on the Nordschleife.

If it's ok with the original thread author, I'd like to suggest this TT idea to some of the JP drivers I have in my friends list, as I'm sure some of them are likely to challenge Hobson's mark.

Dude, do you have an alt account where you do dailies and FIAs?
I have a couple of World tour event winners in my friends list and pace-wise, I think you already have (or almost) what it takes to be there.
But when I watch on your profile page, I see that you haven't taken part in any "official" racing in GT7.

You should definitely get on that if you're not already, the racecraft and feel for the close racing while putting those top-tier times is something you'd want to rehearse beforehand, even more since you're a pad driver and tire wear is gonna put you at a disadvantage in longer races.
But that's just my 2cents of garbage-tier A+ old-timer.
I didn't know you were trying to get in your regional top 20, rooting for you now, cheers!
The reason I haven't competed in any daily races on GT7 is because I'm anxious about being too slow, I have a really bad problem with trying to be 1000% ready before I enter anything and it's holding me back 💀.

However goofy it sounds, I don't have the confidence until I can get within 0.200-ish of top 10. But my times VS Top 10 now are a whole second off currently, so I've been trying to figure myself out lol.

I really appreciate the encouragement, it really means alot! I want to win for myself and the friends who helped me get here so that we can get sponsored and do it again in real life 💯

I've had this feeling with GT Sport before and what I would do to combat it is to simply not do the quali.

A lot less pressure when you're starting at the back and it feels nice if you get into the top 10!

so I had another go today with the nsx at the nurburgring and I was right I could only improve by 0.500 to 1 sec without looking at the aliens lap time, and actually my time got worst on some of the laps I did because I pushed the car too hard and making lots of silly mistakes.

I went and have a look at Hobson's and Yassi's to study their line and technique better and from what I understand from watching their lap is they're balancing their car oversteer with left foot braking on slow corners, and they intentionally slide their car on entry of a high speed corners to rotate their car better and grip their rear end by mid corner using throttle control. Now I've never used left foot brake in my entire life, and always thought that my right foot braking is sufficient but it seems if you want to go faster in the NSX you have to learn this technique, so I went to tsukuba to train my left foot for a couple of laps and drifted the car for a couple more laps to get used to the car's traction over the limit.

By now I felt like I'm a full on rally driver , and by the time I can somewhat juggle and modulate between my left and right foot on the brake pedal, I went for my lap at nurburgring and voi la cut my original lap time by another 2 seconds 7.40.590 using H pattern + clutch. I'm happy with my improvement but my goal now is to break the 7.40.000, probably going to do it next week since I'm away this weekend.

EDIT: btw raced Igor Fraga online yesterday on a 600pp SS tyre Nurburgring room and he gapped me by 20 sec by the end of the lap :scared:, he's a monster.

Good job.

Are you seriously gonna keep the splitters from 8:10 and above...? :scared:
Thanks Tumek5! :)

It was hard work, but so much fun ;) I've learned and improved so much since I started this, it's surreal!

Keeping the splitters? Sure, why not? For slower guys like me those splitters are a target, 8:10 is so important for some of us as the 7:40 is for others... it's just a splitter, but everyone deserves a good splitter to aim at hehehehehe :D

So, I managed the 8:03 and still went off track maybe 4 or 5 times... I mean... if I can keep it together, 8:00 is not such an impossible feat! So that's my goal now, I'll beat that 8:00 one of these days, just another 20 or 40 attempts to go ah!

One thing I changed was the controller sensitivity, from +6 to +8 ... I might go beyond that soon, even to +10 It seems to react much faster to my counter steering input, I can make quick corrections much more effective and immediate.

Suure...but people might get a little alienated that they are sitting alone in their divisions.

While I agree on dividers setting goals for people, I don't think above 8:00 are necessary

Y'all got me in! Good to see some of you folks again on the Nordschleife :) Will edit this post with my best lap time later on. Thanks for putting this up!

EDIT: Squeezed a 7:49.936 out my DS4 yesterday night...lost some hair through the process though... :banghead:  . Most likely will try to improve said time today

If you have splitters above 8min you motivate more slower people to partake, hence they'll grow in number, but if the first step is to high above their pace, they won't be motivated, and you'll have isolated people in their divisions.

Depends on what you wish for this challenge, should it be focusing on the elite or encouraging for everyone ? Mind you that the splitters above 8min don't affect the top dogs.

Having a TT on the Nordschleife, on a specific non racing car, with specific specs, is already really narrowing the number of people who may enter the challenge.

My 2 cents.

[Edit]"Early" morning, I am waiting for the shops to open, time to give it a second go :D
[Edit2]Did two laps, first one with big mistakes, ending on 8min21.XXX, and seconde one in 8min13.244 :D and received a 6 star ticket for my time 😱🤪(landed me 500k, not bad)

Hey guys, you've got me, count me in. Here's one more entry for this nice challenge.
I often have a hard time finding out about a car's strength and weaknesses and well,
the NSX is a handful I'd say.
So for now my best lap is a 7:49,680. Been driving on a DS4. Guess I could shave off
two or three seconds with more practise ... but not today ! ;)

Impressive to watch these super quick laps of 7:40 and below - thank you guys for posting these. 👍

Ok, so I finally had reached the 100 million credit mark (only to be cut down to 80 after buying the Cobra Daytona) and decided to give it a go at this challenge:

Only did 2 laps, one, to get a feel for the track with the car since I've never driven this car ON this track, and the 2nd lap while trying to really push. If this track wasn't too time consuming I could've done way more laps.
It was a really messy 2nd lap, went wide in a lot of corners and misjudged a few braking points and a couple of times I almost went off track on the high speed sections and had to use the brakes to slow down a bit (final few corners after the big straight and the high speed section before it).

First lap was a 7:56 while coasting and getting a feel of the car, the 2nd and the one that matters, was a 7:49.338 .
Used a Dual Sense, 3rd person view (chase cam) and controller sensivity at 7 which is my default. Manual transmission (R2/L2) with analog sticks for direction and acceleration/braking.

If I put in the time and effort, a 7:45 is definitely reachable for me. However, I can only dream of ever getting below 7:40.
I don't consider myself a GREAT driver in GT7. I consider myself a GOOD driver which is why I stated a 7:40-7:50 time is a GOOD lap and below 7:40 and above 7:35 a GREAT lap. And below 7:35 is the ALIEN tier laps.

Sub 7:50 - 8:00 is an average lap.
Sub 7:40 - 7:50 is a good lap
Sub 7:35 - 7:40 is a great lap
Sub 7:35 is alien-tier lap
Sub 7:30 ... Is it possible?

By Hobson's own admission, he is a second off from the top 10 players on the daily races, and this 1 second difference is on tracks much smaller than Nurburgring. And while being about 1 second off of these top10 is still a GREAT time (notice the semantics I use), it's still not on the ALIEN level times. I myself am usually between 1 and 2 seconds off the top 10 drivers (depends on car and track, on mini tracks like Suzuka east with slow cars I'm usually half a second away but that half second is a like a mile difference on those conditions).

However goofy it sounds, I don't have the confidence until I can get within 0.200-ish of top 10. But my times VS Top 10 now are a whole second off currently, so I've been trying to figure myself out lol.

I'm just a really anxious racer 😆

Considering you use a PAD and 3rd person cam like me, your time of 7:37 is incredible, and being 1 second off the top 10 is still being on the top 1% (much less actually) of the total players of this game.

I think a 7:35 or maybe 7:34 is possible but these would be world record times in which you perfect every corner. Below 7:30 is straight up impossible.

From Hobson's video, he made no big mistakes and was almost flawless the entire lap. So yes, I think a sub 7:35 lap is really world record time, top of the alien-tier times so to say. I also believe sub 7:30 is just not possible,

I'll revise it and say:

+8 minute: A lap that needs work in it.
7:50 - 8:00: Average lap.
7:45 - 7:49: A good lap.
7:40 - 7:44: A great lap.
Sub 7:40: An insane lap (alien territory)
Sub 7:35: World Record territory

Yeah it's kind of of tough to say, on GT7 I'm off time but back on Sport I'm setting standards so I'm in a weird spot right now. I'm a perfectionist so we'll see if under 7:35 is possible today, it might take all day 💀

Well, I must be nuts or a glutton for punishment, but I tried this crazy challenge again. It wasn't a lot of fun, particularly when the darn NSX will want to either nose into a barrier or fly off the track with the slightest push with the wrong balance. But with numerous do overs, I finally kept the monster pointed the right way, and even managed a clean lap. Assuming the kerbs are considered clean enough. Other than a favorable physics update, I think this is as good as I'm going to get without spending all day on this mad task. No video, because it would look like a pleasant cruise compared to the others.

8:10.169, clean

Nurb NSX-00b.jpg

Edit: the car and tire combo feel surprisingly good and capable. I'm just too timid when I don't feel in complete control, and the NSX is too easy to overdrive. When I did my 8:10 lap I was going to try one more, but the NSX nosed off the road at the very first turn and I took that as a sign I'd done well enough.

With race practise sub 40 could be possible for me, but pushing by myself i had a 42-43 lap this morning, but hit the barrier in the final corner :D, and i think thats my potential with this car. I havent done a single online race in GT7 yet, hardly did any in GT sport, but plenty in GT6

To reach sub 30 in a stock car i need much more power, as an example, the Ferrari f430 made it look pretty easy :P

Just did another hour stint and I managed to beat my time again! More importantly, I gained a lot of confidence through the process. I don't have any picture but I saved the replay in my gallery, just in case.

Gonna call it job done, as I am satisfied with my lap and the efforts I put in it. :) Congrats to everyone who participates - Every lap that's better than the previous one is a great lap in my book, especially on the Nurb.

My Final Time: 7:48.842 -- DS4 Controller, Sensitivity 6

Thanks again for putting this up! It sure was a lot of fun 🌞 Stay safe!

Why is there no stock time trial online leaderboards like in GT5P?

If it was me I'd add them back for something to do for people, this forum got a lot out of them in GT5P.
Seems like PD is missing a lot of opportunities and I don't understand why. A good chunk of them would only use the content and functionnalities already available. (Set up more races on many tracks, more challenges, more specific brand/model/type of car events, and so on. And leaderboards for everything you can imagine. Lots of stuff which would motivate players to put more hours.

I have a 7:46,025 but with TC set to 1. If that's outside the rulebook forget this time. Haven't tried without TC.
Wheel user and cockpit view.

Below 7:45 is my next goal. Will cost me a lot of sweat and swearing...

Agree: want to see the official supported TimeTrials in GT7. Gives me (personally) way more pleasure vs the online lobbies. Then Wreckfest is a better 'experience' ;)

Some great lap times here. Nice challenge with a great car.

Only had time for 2 laps, on DS4, and managed a 7:54,824. With quite some places to improve myself. Will try some more coming days.

When will PD finally start with online TT's?
I always enjoy seeing what the 'aliens' can do and compare myself on my friends list.
