Earlier today the first test of the brand new RaceTech International Mazda Atenza Touring car took place at the Tsukuba Circuit. The tests ended earlier then expected due to problems with the brakes. The fastest lap of the test was a disappointing 1'03'45. The driver, Kiwi born cool_kiwi_12 expressed his disappointment in the car and team " Sure it's a small team. I don't care. The car felt very floaty and understeered like crazy. Also the crew could use a bit of work. I joined RaceTech knowing that sponsorship would keep us from competing in more than 4 or 5 events. However, to be so far off the top teams at my favourite track is just plain annoying." Team boss Tako Kami was unavailable for comment. Test photos are coming

Hi all I had some good testing at Tsukuba with Dan and Tom last night (thanks you two)

For outright pace, the Focus is great but is terribly hard on its front tyres

They were dead by 2/3 race distance, but with a little set-up and being a bit gentler on the
pedals I think it'll be ok in the races

ps. best lap last night was 1:00.084

Had a fantastic test in the BMW's last night with Dan for DB Motorsports, Tom was using a test car in white while Dan was using a test car in an Interim Livery. The car seemed to be very on the pace with Dan setting a laptime around Tsukuba of a 1:00.2 in practice and a 0:59.xxx in the race while Tom set a laptime in practice of 1:00.5 and 1:00.xxx in race trim, I ran the standard setup of the car while Dan used a modified setup, both cars seemed to handle the track rather well with most of the tyres wear on the front left due to the load in the high speed corners but a very good test of the BMW's, DB Motorsports' Tom Brooks was quoted as saying "With a fantastic test at Tsukuba and after doing some laps at the Autumn Ring I can't wait to get the season underway!"

DB Motorsports did some testing yesterday and there were promising signs from the start as both cars were getting into the 1:00s. Tombrooks97 had made a major improvement. over season by setting mid 1:00s as his best laps comfortably. VRracingfan could get into the low 1:00s but felt that 59s were achievable after making mistakes in various sectors after being up in the first. He eventually set a 59 in a practice race without the help of slipstream and then once more with the help of RacerPaul's draft.

Focus is quicker over 1 lap at tsukuba than my BMW as it got a 59.8 rather than a 59.9.

I got a 1:00.3 with my Mazda yesterday on Tsukuba. Seeing how everyone is using that track for testing, i figured why not? lol. Needs some fine tuning though.

I got a 1'00.1 with the Ford after tweaking the tranny further, but that setting won't be good for a race. Still gotta practice.

Tsukuba's going to be either very close or a Catalunya style race because of the amount of testing going on. I like the amount of pace over 1 lap for the ford however it eats its tyres at twisty tracks. It's fun though.
The BMW is only a tenth off and I know the area where that tenth is lost.

Sorry Mulsanne. I've been rather busy recently. Uni course coming to an end, and getting stuff arranged for September. I forgot I'd expressed interest for S3.

I'll be very busy after the summer hols, so won't have time to commit to a full campaign. I'm happy to do the occasional race to make up the grid when others can't make it. Still haven't decided between the BMW and Focus though....!
