Turn up in an X1 then.......:P

Not at 300hp :P

Ok, I reckon it is time to mention just how a typical night should work:

Room will open around 7pm as usual, only the TOCA Stewards and the Qualifiers are allowed in. I will send PSN messages to those who need to qualify.

Grid for the qualifier will be randomised and the qualifier will begin at 7.15pm. I will leave a message on PSN and here saying it has started. When the qualifier has finished, the 4 qualified racers will stay, the other leave, and the top 12 can enter the room.

Won't work if the race is short.

If you're going to have a short race you will need a small grid. Maybe 2 races with 6 people in each, because getting into the top 4 when you start at the back of a 12 car grid is pretty difficult with only a few laps.

No need for a PM, 1 lap qualifying will be enough, just like TOCA Legends.

It's also more fun, more tense and more time-efficient than 15 minutes of qualifying.

Come on Furi, you're in favour of screwing up the grid with stupid reverse grids.(Real BTCC with no reverse for the second and partial reverse for the 3rd, with ballast accumulating would be better) Why not do the 1-lap thing, that screws up the grid when someone goes off on their lap, or misses an apex.

It's better, do it for the qualifying race and the actual race.;)👍

The one lap quali will be used for the quali races. Maybe expand it to main quali for S7 :dopey:

How does 1 lap quali work?

I let everyone out on track at once, made sure the guy in first wasn't able to do a second one(by smashing him if he tried) and set the race from there, I think Furi qualified last every time, I know it took him about 2:20 for Rome because he crashed.

Why don't you just have 10 minute qualifying session with the fastest 4 qualifiers making it through?

Err it's hard to explain.

You go out, do one flying lap and that's it :dopey:

Furi, I have an occupation unlike you. I think I know that.

But given your IQ to understand the question fully, I'm talking about 'how will it work' not 'how do I do it.'

Now, is it a week-long qualifying in stewards' rooms or is it a 15 minute qualifying session or is it a 1 by 1 Nascar style qualifying session?

EDIT: Thank you, Akmuq

💡 :dopey: I actually never thought of that...

ONLY IF YOU TURN OFF THE DRAFT BY TURNING OFF COLLISIONS.

Last thing I want is someone to lag into or ram me off on my qualifying lap which is either a 'go' or 'go home' lap.

Stewards you will have PM in approx 30 mins.

Some good idea's being thrown around here.

I like the idea of two 3-4 lap races

Me too, and I'm in the quali-race and if I don't get to the the actual rounds I still get a race. Maybe have a 10 min qualifying for the quali-race then have a 5 lap race, stewards watching all the time to give penalties. With collisions off.

Ye know what. I like this three.

Drivers can cheat on qualifying laps and not be spotted.

In the race, the stewards are watching.

I seriously doubt we're going to get any more than 10 drivers in the qualifying race as there are always no shows.

As long as we do a race I´m fine.
I think a 1 Lap Q favours the faster Cars too much, although the pressure is big during that 1 lap.

Pressure effects a lot of people (humans)

Also, how many people are going to qualify for the opening round as some people aren't going to race.

Ok as people appear in favour, then we are keeping the quali race system.

Also a clarification on quali race entries:

Say in the pts coming into a weekend it's:

10th DK
11th Haitch
12th Frasier

and DK will not be present, that means that there will be an extra quali spot. So if 2 of the top 12 cannot make a weekend, then it opens up another 2 quali positions.

Also in other news Fox's entry will run under the "Team RPM-Vulpes" banner.

As for people saying about other qualifying methods here is my response:

"Timed session for pre quali with collisions off"
A good idea in principle, but hurts those who are not necessarily fast over a lap or in cars that are all-out fastest.

"Two heat races"
A little too complicated. Why split them up? How you going to decide who goes in which heat? Why make things longer?

"One lap shootout"
See top. But could work for the main quali in future as the feature races are obviously longer so it balances out more.

Also Nurburgring Nordschleife 24hr is due to time constraints a one lap session effectively.
