October 24th to November 4th and 'Gran Turismo' is officially supporting the 41st year of the show as per thier mention at

http://www.tokyo-motorshow.com/en/index.html

Now that we know the release date, and car numbers etc,

What do you think PD will show at the show? They couldn't use the same rehashed demo from gamescom and TGS could they?

Hasn't the Tokyo Motor Show been a stage for big announcements in the past?

I'm not expecting much from the show, but with the big collaborations with Ferrari, Mercedes etc, it would be feasible that we could get more useful info.

I really doubt it, sure its a car thing, but its still a video game, and all major information will come at places where the whole crowds focus is on games rather then only cars.

The most likely appearances at the Tokyo Motor Show will be new Japanese cars (production and concept) which have already been modeled in GT5. They'll likely be there as playable demos.

So expects lots of new, and probably wacky, Japanese stuff.

I don't expect much of it...
Maybe they'll make a small video/demo/.. with a hybrid car or something like that..
As green cars are in these days..

I expect a similar R246 demo to the WRC Impreza, 458 and SLS ones that we've seen, but with the new Lexus LF-A. Nothing more at this stage.

I don't expect big announcements at TMS but we will see a showing and most likely some new car models. Sony/PD did put quite a show on last TMS (2007) and we know this year Sony/GT is sponsoring TMS.

I agree with the general consensus that it will probably be a new modelled car, like the SLS and the F458 most prossibly the lexus mentioned above.

However we could possibly get some information divulged or posibly a later build of the demo

The above 2 reasons are quite important in my opinion. Would Sony sponsor an event that wasn't in thier interest? In the marketing side of things, the Tokyo Motor Show will be a great place to promote GT5 and make a lot of noise around the release of Forza. I'll presume that Sony will have show exclusivity, ie, Microsoft wont be making any Forza appearance.

Also consider, it has been widely accepted that GT5 details would be sparse until GTPSP is out, and with PD being so secretive, its clear that they might as well wait until Forza is final before bringing out their big guns.

..... we thats my 1.6 pence anyway.

^ Exactly.

Wasn't the original Prologue demo released at the TMS?

Or was that TGS and I'm just smoking crack?

yeah, pretty sure your correct.

It should provide some information if not a Euro / NA release hopefully

They will show the Ferrari 458 Italia tribute on the Ferrari stand and that's about it I think.
Maybe the same for the SLS but I think we shouldn't be waiting too much to come out from this TMS considering the deception we had yesterday...

One word comes to mind : Surprise!

I thought that Kaz is part of a race team ( hint Lexus ISF & the GT team ), so they could have them cars in their section of the show ( if the seasons over by then ) with GT5.Also did someone mention, the Lexus ISF is in the game ? ( maybe them teams & cars will be in too ).

forget about it.. maybe some demo pods with the same demo we saw last time.
But if TGS fails to bring anything new to the table, TMS will have nothing new.

Are you not reading the same stuff im reading? Considering the 'leaked website list' wasn't official. We have learnt plenty from the TGS.

With GT5 so far away now Im pretty sure there will be nothing new at TMS. PD hasnt used TMS for anything major since the launch of GT Concept 2001.

Pretty sure they released the GT5P demo at TMS, and at the time, GT5P was several months away.

To be honest, if we're going to get any other big news prior to the release, I would say TMS is a good bet.

Isn't that just sad? :P

I wouldn't be surprised if politicians force pedal powered cars on us, like they had in the Flintstones cartoons. Ugh...

But as to the thread question, like the others I'm expecting small delights like the few cars mentioned. But we may be surprised by the two demos being folded into Prologue for a Spec IV update. Now that would be cool. But even then, I'd expect some news on that at TGS because of the disappointing showing SONY had.

I was at the TMS just before GT5p was released, there were playable demo's and it was running at places like the BMW stand, showing the BMW 1 Series, and at other places showing Concept Cars "in motion". I got in trouble for taking photo's too :)

I suspect GT5 will be running showing the new Toyota car from the recent video at least.

Sounds like they are going to have GTPSP there... Maybe GT5 too?

At the 41st Tokyo Motor Show 2009 Gran Turismo Booth, visitors can try the latest release in the Gran Turismo series of games for the Sony Playstation. Players can choose from a vast selection of cars including famous models of both domestic and foreign manufacturers, old favorites, and even the latest models.
Also, visitors who bring a game software of "Gran Turismo" exclusive for the PSP® (on sale October 1st) to the booth along with their own PSP® will receive a special bonus gift.

I don't expect much from that because I keep in mind that this is a car show not a gaming show. But then again who knows...

I know,
but because in the feature list there was like:
,,with the newest hybrid and electric cars (like the tesla)"
maybe they want to show so .. i don't know

I'm not expecting anything, but it would be nice if they publicly unveiled the new GT5 trailer that journalists talked about being shown behind closed doors at TGS (the one in the city at night showing the new damage model with deformation etc).
