Too many events in GT4? Could be less with better AI I think...

there are very much events and recaes in GT4 meybe to much if the AI gets good in GT5... I think PD should do less events if the improve the AI. take away all these car maker events, thats very unrealistic as well. they should concentrate on real racing, sure it has to be smaller cars like Civics and stuff IF they are racecars... his is why they have to bring back racing modifications... what about the other cars thats no use when not racing them you are thinking now... well, that will be the hobbie cars for those who wanna hev them and tune them and such. cause there'll probably be race meetings like in GT4 where you can race them anyway...

anyway i think it will be enough with 20-30 events if the AI gets really good... examples/wishes:

Amateur League
Beginner League
FF Race Cars Event
FR Race Cars Event
MR Race Cars Event
4WD Race Cars Event
JGTC
BTCC
WTCC
DTM
Le Mans 24 Hours
Nurburgring 24 hours
Pikes Peak Hill Climb
D1 GP
Australian V8 Supercar Racing
Drag Racing
F1 Grand Prix

And ''Hobbie'' cars you can drive at a Racing Meet at every track avalible...

bad idea?

EDIT: feel free to bring your wishes of events...

I wish for more, more events means less repetitiveness and more choice. Thats one thing I love about GT4 the number of evens. I do feel that too high a percentage of them are manufacturer races, but I would want them to add toothe other events rather than cut down the manufacturer ones.

If you have only 20 events, it wouldn't force you to try out cars that you'd never think about driving. For example, I would never think about driving a Crossfire or a Buick Special. PD should just vastly improve the AI and add in several more events.

What they said.

I'll admit that I'm in the middle of a TON of manufacturer's races right now, and I'm not enjoying being swarmed by so darn many of them in comparison to the actual competition races, but I'd really rather have them than not. And even more. I'm disappointed by the manufacturer's cups they left off!

I would like a lot more league competition races though.

Very nice. :)
I like the idea, and hobby cars, maybe with the unlimited customization thing would be awesome!
Maybe with an wvwnt for just customs, and the capability for 2 player a-spec, heck, that game would be off the charts! 👍

I like a lot of events. I think better organization of tracks would be better. European events would be run solely on european tracks, 2 Euro one US and 2 Japanese tracks.

I love the Missions. It's great to push the cars and tracks to their limits. The first time you race it, it feels impossible, but you know it can be done, that is the point of the mission! Very competitive.

I'd like for them to trade off some of the manufacture events for more events in the beginner, professinal and extreme halls. The manufacture races kind of just bore me to death with the repetition of full fields of the same car.

Much better organized and thought out race events and single events. Have at least 50 percent of events have some sort of power restriction. By all means they need to really add many more random elements to each race. This could mean any number of things, like no. of laps very ( plus / minus 10 percent of total ), more random and varried opponents --- A.I. uses 75% or more of all of the car models in the game. Hopefully we will see varied race times, morning, afternoon, evening, night etc. Hopefully random weather events, hot, warm, light rain, mild rain, heavy rain, varied wind factors, fog, possibly small sand storms with strong wind gust etc. Race events --- have much great varity added, such as track order could be random, random no. of laps, maybe even random tracks per race series, what if some or maybe most race series was not pre-set but radomly created each time you did this. A preset no. of conditions and choices could exist., then the program randomly picks each choice out of the conditions and then generates a random race series. Heck in my opion just about all the races could be done that way, sure would make each race a much fresher experience. With 20 or more cars on the track at the same time and possibly damage, I am sure that something will need changed. Oh and to answer the question, more events is better. Having few or many events will have no impact on the difficulty or more realistic experience of each race. The programming has to be there first, meaning how A.I. performs.

ok, how many events are there in GT4? more than 100? if so, i think thats too much if the AI are really good... then you wouldn't make to clear GT5 untill GT6 is out... but what about maybe 50 events then?

No, I'm up for more, GT4 has a lot but I'd still like more. More tracks too, a better prize car system, but definitely not less events. Good AI shouldn#'t be instead of anything else, it should be in addition. The AI code has nothing to do with the number of events. Infact the better the AI is the more, more events are welcome since it'll be more interesting racing with them in as many different kinds of cars and track combinations as possible.

Have to disagree here - definitely more events!

Have to say, though, I was pleasantly suprised when I first played GT4 and discovered the variety of events/missions/tests etc. I've had a lot of fun exploring/trying out all the different things GT4 has to offer, even if I think some of them serve no real practical purpose (eg. drag strip).

Personally, I'd love to see a recreation of the late 60's/early 70's Canada-America Challenge Cup (Can-Am). Okay, GT4 has the Chaparrals and the Toyota 7 (a good enough start) but what about some McLarens, Lolas et al??

Some pre-WW2 cars would be especially good (besides the 1937 Auto-Union Streamliner). How about some of the Alfas, Maseratis, Auto-Unions, Mercs of the day??

Something else no-one else has mentioned: LSR (Land Speed Record) cars!!!!!!!!!!

well, ok... I just thought PD wanted to make a realistic racing game and its not realistic with one Skyline GTR event, one Civic event and that kind of things... i think those events with small crap cars are so damn booooring... but thats just me for sure...

If you don't want to do a certain event, don't do it. I enjoyed some of thoes events, some I didn't like the 10 lap race at Motegi in the Skyline cup, but I enjoy driving some of the smaller less powered cars. It can sometimes take more skillsince one mistakecan hurt you more than in a car that hit's 60 in 4 seconds.

My comments to the original list:

Amateur League - OK
Beginner League - OK
FF Race Cars Event - OK
FR Race Cars Event - OK
MR Race Cars Event - OK
RR Race Cars Event - Should be added
4WD Race Cars Event - OK
JGTC - OK
BTCC - OK
WTCC - OK
DTM - OK
Le Mans 24 Hours - OK
Nurburgring 24 hours - OK
Pikes Peak Hill Climb - OK
D1 GP - This is a "who is the fastest" racing game. If you can grip in the races, then OK.
Australian V8 Supercar Racing - OK
Drag Racing - Maybe OK, it should be only an option like Track Meetings
F1 Grand Prix - OK

Maybe some Rallycross events? Without the penalty of course...

And I think they should get rid of the win ratio, beating 20 cars might be too much for even a good player.

hmm, why add D1 cars when you have to grip with them???

and why not a dragracing event? where you have to do the burnout and stage in by your self and the car may not go straight since grip depends on how you made the burnout so you have to drive in the burnout marks for the best grip...

Yeah drag racing should be in there, I'm not a drift fan but I can also see the potential for a drift competition. They could actually have a drag hall with FF dragsters all the way upto funny carsand top fuel dragsters. I don't know how drag events are staged but you could maybe do it as 5 or 10 runs in a knockout style competition.

yeah, a drag hall would be great! :D

I think GT5 should have somthing like you can only race an event once a year..

Say i wanted to race the indy 500 (if it were in the game) i could only race that race in the month of may.

This could make it so i cant do some stupid rally 9320420938 times and get the same car and sell it for millions.

It would also be more fun I think. Like you could have a calandar and be in 3 or 4 different series, and if they over-lap they you must choose.

Sound good?

realistic but maybe to much for a game...

I think everyone should be able to play GT with their own style. Drifting isn't my style, so I would like to do those races by gripping. I didn't say you would have to grip, but it should be an option.

And the drag races should be split in categories, otherwise it wouldn't be fun as the Escudo would be the car of everyone's choice.

well i dont like everything in GT4 either but i have do clear them to make 100%.
but how about this then: the drifting mode can be like a bonus that you dont have to drive... if you dont drive it you can still make 100% :D

Well now we're talking the same language! I like drifting sometimes but it shouldn't be compulsory. That would take the fun out of it.

If it's a drifting competition they sure, to win you'd have to drift, some people didn't like the trucks but they had to do that to complete GT4 or open up the extreme hall. If you don't want to do it, just don't do it.

I would like a point to point race (baja-500) os some thing similar.. like the nice straight on grand canyon.. the feeling of jumping over sand dunes in a throphy truck would be nice..

yeah, but drifting is really hard for some peoples... think it would be better as just a fun bonus...

The GT world championship is really hard to some people, should that not count to 100% completion too, some people find the Speedster race very hard, should that not count. The bottom line is to get 100% in a game you need to beat everything, no exeptions. If you don't like it, don't do it unless you really value that 100% complete ratio so much. I would stress that the larger the game gets events wise, the fewer prizes for % completion there should be, and maybe only a bonus movie for 100% not a car you can't can't get elsewhere anyway.
