every episode, i agree tiff needell is a much better driver put i personaly think jeremy clarkson is one of the funiest presenters around, great choice for him to present top gear

yes its a european show. i used to love jeremy but his opinions of cars have started to annoy me of late. his cool board is quite pointless. it would be good if they just had an ugly-pretty board. i prefer 5th gear on channel 5 (its on about half an hour before i think), i dont like vicki butler henderson but tiff and quentin are cool. tiff knows how to drive, and quentin knows about old cars.

top gear was good when they had clarkson tiff and quent all in one. as it stands 5th gear has the edge imo ! :D

I do quite like "new-sprog presenter no-one can remember the name of, Richard something". Especially when he stole the keys to Clarkson's SL55 and gave them to The Stig to hammer round a track :D
]
Any guesses on The Stig? Short, French, fast. Yvan Muller?

I watch Fifth Gear on the lifestyle channel here in Australia...The guy on the show beat the RS200s 0-62 mph record of 3.06 seconds, he ran a 2.97 second run in a "Tiger"...not sure of the model, but it runs about 450 bhp, and it looks similar to a Caterham 7...

Yep. The Tiger Z1. It has two 1.3 litre motorbike engines, wth two 6 speed gearboxes - you can shift both at the same time or in turn through a half & half sequential shift.

However he didn't beat the record. The record is for Production Road Cars, and the Tiger is not yet in production.

We don't get those programs in the United States. Fortunately, lots of Top Gear episodes are available for download on the internet :)

Yea I don't get Eurosport or whatever the channel is. We *had* Speedvision, which had a show called MotorVision, and they would take some pretty expensive cars and drive the crap out of them, going airborn and just driving nuts. It was great. Then on 2/11/02 Speedvision changed to the far too American Speed Channel, and the show was gone.

Ah ok, I thought it was in production, but built on a "order-only" basis...:)

well im not sure about the 55 thing, when clarkson was driving it around the track it had the numberplate "SL 55 AMG" which is the coolest numberplate you can have on that car. (though i have seen an Audi 90 with the plate AUDI, the I being a one but it looked like an I, totally excellent). anyway when the stig was driving the 55 around, it had KV something, or at least it was different. was funny nonetheless :D

as for the stig, i think the french accent is just for show, i think it will turn out to be damon hill, he's the kind of guy that likes doing that sort of thing and im fairly sure hes good friends with clarkson.

I USED TO WATCH THEM AFTER I DOWNLOADED THEM OFF OF KAZAA, AND STUFF. NOT ANYMORE, THOUGH. CAPS LOCK FOR LIFE YO!

Could be right on the Stig - except that Damon Hill scares Clarkson witless. And he's the only man to make Ruby Wax shut the hell up for 10 seconds (he piloted her for a while when she was covering Gumball 3000 in 2000...).

yeah ruby wax sux. the jackass doods had some fun with her too. what was it... a piledriver manouvre on her? :D

i AM right in thinking damon hill doesn't do F1 anymore right? so he would have the time to play around with top gear...

He spends a lot of time indulging in his first love - bikes.

Tiff is an ex-F1 driver as well - and I remember him piloting a Ford Puma around a test track at speeds that made Clarkson want to die. And that's a 1.7i 120hp small coupe... In the Accord Type-R Hill drove, Clarkson vommed down the side... :D I can only imagine what Ruby Wax went through in the Diablo...

MazKid - "whatever channel it is"? I'm taking it you've not heard of the BBC then?

Damon hasn't been in F1 for some time now.
I was watching another program, not topgear (err pulling power, or driven or one of those ones) and the had Damon test driving the SL 55 AMG (not clarksons one ;) ) and he drove it so hard, the other guy in the car (Fat bald geezer) threw up out of the window.

Er... anyway, topgears back on! great, i'll have to watch it this sunday.

Edit: Damn you famine, with your fast posting!

ummm i dont think so. tiff is certainly an ex racing driver, lemans, touring car and all that but not f1.

as for people throwing up after being driven in cars at high speeds... whats going on there then? why dont they drive people like us who would relish the experience instead of scarring people who get an adrenaline rush walking through a revolving door! i bet these peepz are the kind who scream on a rollercoaster too... not to mention throw up

thats cuz the most watched sport is nascar :irked:

My spies tell me that The Stig is Yvan Muller too. He's got great car control, which is a Muller trait, so it could be. The other person I suspect it could be is Perry McCarthy.

Nightmage82 If you'd been watching the show, you'd have seen that Clarkson was more upset about The Stig driving his car with is real plates on than anything else. The UK plate system works like this:

The nmbers reflect the year of registration. We're currently on '03'. In August, we'll go onto the second half of the year, and it will be '53'. Then in March, back to the first half of 2004 = '04'.

It is illegal to put a dating plate on a car that is newer than the car's first registration, therefore '55' is illegal, because it sis the second half of 2005. Therefore the 'SL55 AMG' plate had been custom-made so that Clarkson could make his car anonymous.

I so want an SL55 AMG...

thank you i know how the system works i realised it was a legal plate, i just didn't realise it wasn't legal YET! :D heh, quite right, that clearly wasn't his number plate (sl 55 amg).

i don't see how they can call it a gay car though, i've seen them around in real life and they sound just like jc said, ww2 fighter jets. seriously mean and seriously quick, i'd have one any day :P

oh sorry, my mistake.

I love new Top Gear the chat showy type atmosphere works really well I think I must be the only person in the world who agrees with most of Jezza Clarksons views the show must really rile the anti-car brigade tho.Hahahaha good :mischievous:

By the way I think a newspaper uncovered the Stigs identity to definately be Perry McCarthy some time last year.?

the cool wall sucks though, normally i'd be in favour of something like that but their choices are completely random. anything that sounds good is cool, and anything that looks good is cooler, simple! :D (except they dont do it that way)

anyone see the fastest faith ones?

or that fastest van driver one with that seriously modified transit van or whatever it was..

also, does anyone know why they replaced that guy (you might call him "fat") with that other bloke?

"i am a driving god!"

:P
