yea just to pass on a little knowledge..( i should get rep points for this no jk ) actually Akina is not a real mountain pass for some reason this pass was renamed idk why to this day i think the plan was to rename them all but then they just scraped it but somehow Akina stayed? .. well w\e

in short the real name for Akina is Haruna....... and also having a takumi ghost would mean the game would be too drift happy and based around initial d which i dont want i just want some touge tracks personally i like usui maybe even irohazaka

ive seen everyone else call it akina so im just wondering if anyone else knew that akina is not the real name?

Thanks for the info. Is there a GTP thread with more details regarding this subject? I've done a couple searches, but even though there's a lot of related threads, good info seems hard to find.

limited selection? whats wrong with mountain passes? i think a mountain pass is much more difficult than other tracks I find in gt4 that the tracks are really easy. I want harder tracks

I'd love to see some mountain pass tracks too, but not just from Japan.

In Europe, how about the Stelvio Pass? I think it's in Italy, and from the pictures I saw in evo, it looks like an incredible place to drive, with switchbacks galore. The part of the WRC Monte Carlo round where there are several hairpins would be cool, too.

As for the US, I've heard there are nice canyon roads in California as well. There's also a section of US Highway 129 nicknamed 'Tail of the Dragon,' which has 311 curves in 11 miles, and could probably come close to the Nurburgring Nordschleife in terms of difficulty.

It would also be cool if PD can make sure that the driving surfaces are not ribbon smooth, and have bumps like real roads. That could make it a nice challenge in terms of tuning your suspension and even driving the roads.

Hey I wanted to ask smthing. in real life can we use the gutter to make our turning better? and is it really possible to drift in irohazaka? and is it true that irohazaka has that jump short cut?

Shoot. i'll go for it! You've got a yea here!

Then again, next year, the Pikes Peak course will be completely paved, making it a Togue course. that'd be cool, too!

Maybe in the same spirit that we had Le Sarthe I and II with and without chicanes on the straight, we could have paved and unpaved Pike's Peak tracks.

heeey, that's not a bad idea....

yes initial d tracks are 100% real except for the name of Haruna and the jump on irohazaka IS really there i could even find a pic of it if you want ( you have to be absolutley insane to try this though remember its an ANIME) and if the gutter is there (which it is) then i suppose its possible. you just have to be crazy to attempt that also

The gutter thing does work, not sure how much faster you can take a coner doing it though. I've tried it a few times on round-abouts on the way to work on quiet Saturday mornings but it's bloody hard to line up and keep your wheel sitting in the gutter for the whole coner, if your wheel pops out of the groove then you just understeer badly which is never good when you're on the inside lane.

As for Touges in GT5, nah, I'd rather see some targa tracks. GT should avoid illegal sports in my opinion.

illegal sports? how does a touge track be illegal? they hold organized races on some mountain passes so it doesnt have to be illegal besides its just a game

No, a good deal of rally races are off road. I like road rally as much as anyone, but if you don't like it off road, don't race it.

yeah if the physics are improved then driving on loose surfaces should be more enjoyable and comments like that will go away :P

Damn, where did I leave the keys to my "General Lee" replica? XD

you know, I think some "freeroam" tracks, where you can take any route you choose, but you have to run thrugh checkpoints, might also be kind of cool....

This should be included in GT.
"Serra do Rio do Rastro" is a region from my state that features this nice set of curves.

wow, nice curvy road there! I bet there's loads of accidents when all young Takumi wannabe's are practising their blind attacks..

and yes, TOUGE RACING IS ILLEGAL ON PUBLIC ROADS! it is organized, yes, but it also endangers the oncoming traffic. public roads are no place for racing. racing is for official racing tracks, where the event is more easy to control. try to remember the chance of oncoming traffic when you're considering pulling the e-brake at curvy road that looks empty..

It's not that rally races are not fun -- just shouldn't be necessary for any completion percentages

true but when they are organized they shut down the road so it wouldnt be illegal.

yeah good point and there should still be completition points for rally races in gt4 they want you to be good at tarmac racing as well as snow and rally

they could use a legal touge track, maybe like gunma cycle sports center......minus the bicyclists.

^^ I second that, Touge Showdown are incredible.....I just love them, I'd like a track like that to test the handling of the cars.....

I think it's 90% we won't get a Touge track, just as older BMW ///M models, of which i'm very fond of, but....we'll have to pray then

i was thinking mountain roads from a lot of countries not just from japan. It Shouldn't be a huge part of the game, maybe 2 or 3 tracks.

i like the idea, though it's not going to happen.

OK -- The thing in GT4 that irked me was that they put MUCH more emphasis on driving well in the rally races by using a 5 sec penalty. If they wanted us to drive better on tarmac -- they should have used a 5 sec penalty in the regular races as well.

That way, the emphasis is placed on both types/styles of racing and not just rallies.

actually theres 5 sec penaltys on all special condition races including costa di amalfi and citta di aria which are tarmac and not rally tracks.
