The event is Finished but we will still accept test results and comments.

Results Here.
Since we now have 5 variations of the Toyota 86 it's time to sort them out.

The Challenge:

Make the fastest 450PP tune for any of the 5 Toyota 86 variants.

Scion FR-S '12 (DLC car, cannot be shared, testers will have to build each tune for testing)
Toyota GT 86 '12
FT-86 Concept II '11 (see notes at bottom)
FT-86 G Sports Concept '10 (see notes at bottom)
FT-86 Concept '09

The Rules:

450PP
Sport Hard Tires
No Aids except ABS
No more than 5% power limiter

The Track:

Nurburgring GP/D offline

The Deadline:

July 29 to have testing done

Tuners can submit tunes for as many cars as they like. But only 1 tune per car.

We will also need test drivers.

Test drivers must use the tunes exactly as posted.

Tuners: Be sure to put your cars on share (except the FR-S which cannot be shared)

Tuner List:
krenkme: Scion FR-S '12 Unsharable. Testers must build.

VtiRoj/RoJJieE: * FR-S * GT 86 * FT 86 Concept II * GT 86 is on share. FR-S must be built. Concept II tune is for reference only, not part of the competition.

USARMYCOMBATVET/nofxmike06: Toyota 86 GT '12 On share.

XDesperado67 - Classic Toyota 86. Not officially part of the challenge.

praiano63: Toyota 86 GT '12 On share by DigitalBaka.

robrabbitman: Scion FR-S '12 Unsharable. Testers must build.

lldantell: Scion FR-S '12 Unsharable. Testers must build.

NEWDRIVER2/OTS_NEWDRIVER2: Toyota 86 GT '12 On share.

HaylRayzor: Toyota FT 86 Concept '09 On share.

FR-S will have to be broken in before testing. Krenkme's tune is done with bolt-ons so testers should test this one first, then use the same car for one of the other tunes. Unfortunately the same car can't be used for all tunes as the weight reduction and chassis reinforcement don't match.

Tester List:
Jackthalad/CHRYSTALBUDS
Ronald6/GTP_Ronald
DigitalBaka
MSTER232
dirtbiker535/atimmer22
MrTrent1024
TakumiFuji01
SolidSnake7735
Golyadkin/Tree4kid

Cars will be tested in practice mode (offline) with no tire wear.

Testers may use whatever combination of aids they are comfortable with except no SRF. But whatever aids you use you must use the same aids for all cars.

Testers will drive each car for enough laps to be confident they have done a good lap. Post single fast lap times for each car here as a list. Also add any comments on the tunes. Please restrict comments to the cars and tunes, not the tuners. Tuners and testers will be respectful of each other.

The tunes will be scored on average lap time for all testers. No tester's time for any car will count until he/she has submitted times for all tunes.

Notes on Concept II: Since this car is limited availability it will not be included as an official competitor. Testers are not required to build and drive these tunes. Any tunes will be scored only for informational purposes.

Notes on Sports Concept: For this car only, no weight reduction is allowed, no power upgrades are allowed, and full ballast is required. And then use enough power limiter to get down to 450PP.

I accept the challenge, just need to wait until the FR-S becomes available in my country.

I will also test drive so long as the amount of entries doesn't exceed 10.

I will actually just test cars if you can limit the entries to 10 👍

I think Roj should just enter ten of his own tunes for this car? Do you think he can narrow it down to just 10?

Probably not :dopey:

Is there a deadline? I hope to have some time next week :nervous:

Not. Possible.

I bet you in his dark cave of scary things, he's got an 86 for just about every occasion. We know he has a drift 86, we've all seen the RKM released 86, he's probably done a 86 for drag racing, and then he's got the 86 rally car he built…as well as (I'm guessing) the 86 that's set up like an FF, an 86 set up for fast tracks, another 86 set up for tight twisty tracks, and yet another for endurance runs, and yet another one for show (Stanced and such), and that's just the start!

Cool. :D
Since this is a pop up sort of informal tuner challenge, I think you should tune one of each version. This competition should be, "can you beat Roj's version?"

Alright. :P I'll need another FT-86 II though, I made the mistake of not duping mine before I went and put the stage 3 motor and weight reduction in it. :ouch:

I'll send you one later tonight if I can find it in my mess of cars garage. Might tune one of these myself...probably the Scion. Waiting for them to show up at my local dealer so I can go drive one. :D

I had assumed it wasn't tradable. Since it is, that makes things easier.

And it also makes me wonder why it isn't available in the dealership. :ouch:

It is a free download, correct? In the U.S. I paid $5 for the new track, but the Scion was a separate, free download. After the download, a Scion dealership showed up in the New Car Dealers area.

That's a good point....not sure if it is or not. I'll try anyway and find out. :embarrassed:

You're a champion my friend. :D

The FT-86 II was a free gift to people who had downloaded the first DLC twice (before the family pack was offered). It wasn't available to anyone else and hasn't been made available since. Luckily you can trade it.

So do we have to have the oil changed? :dopey:

Okay seriously, two questions and I'm good.
1. Should the car be fully broken in?
2. Any limit on adding weight?

Sorry for the questions, just wondering. I'll leave now :dopey:

Since tunes must be run as submitted, you will want to increase the PP to 450.

If the car isn't fully broken it it will be a pain because it will keep changing power.

Add weight as you like.

Okay so can I enter a real 86?:odd::crazy::lol:

I had actually thought about that myself. Sure, go ahead. It would be an interesting comparo.

Cool, and just so I'm clear on the rules...
No more than 5% power limiter and unlimited use of ballast right?

My right foot is itching. Does someone need a test driver? Lol.
I'd love to test the 86s, one of my favorite cars, and the first car I owned (almost).
I just have to finish the FF shootout first.
