I guess I have been away from this tread for too long. I was unaware the Scion could not be borrowed. Then why can I put it up on share?. Sorry testers :(

You can put DLC cars on share no problem, but the person trying to borrow it will be told that the car can't be borrowed. It's PD's way of giving DLC owners a way of teasing non-DLC owners. You can look, but you can't touch. :D

Like real life car replicas

I get that with the pay DLC, but the free stuff just confuses me... but that doesn't take much :dopey:

The Scion FR-S should've just been added in an update like the GT86 and the 2011 NASCAR cars were. It is rather pointless to have free DLC on the store.

Marketing, maybe.

Edit:
Testers needed? I'm down.

I don't get it, but then again I.... hey look a dog with a puffy tail :dopey:

Updated my results. On the mobile app so I can't (be bothered to) link it but I'm sure you can find it. :)

EDIT: It's on page 6. :D

||dante|| - Scion FR-S - 1‘44.242"
- As stated, loose but controlable. Had a good feel overall but again some mid-corner woes. Seems to change directions well at the chicanes but I needed to fight to keep it turning after. It was very tight off the throttle.
.

Good feedback right there,it is loose butit got good grip anyway so you should catch it and you did way better then me

The testers should consolidate their results in a single post as Digi is. I will link to each testers results in the main post so all tunes and all results will be available from there.

HaylRazor's FT-86: 1:56.815
VTiRoj's 86-GT: 2:51.XXX

I am beginning to think it's me. I can see why drifters use this car.

Tester's Notes: I am not sure what was wrong with this car. The oversteer was so ridiculous I honestly thought I was driving a drift tune. Out of the five laps I drove, only two of them were valid, and by the time I started lap 6 My tires were so destroyed that I had to stop. I had a look at the settings. I don't think the tuner drove this car after he/she tuned it, because it is full of oversteer and creates a lot of smoke on the track.

It isn't necessary to impugn the tuner, even if you don't like the tune. Yes I drove the car many laps. It suits my driving style. I was turning consistent 1:43.3 times with a few in the 1:43.2s, but...

The tune was developed with offline physics with no tire wear.

I didn't specify in the op but tuners will not use tire wear unless specified. Unless the challenge specifically states tire wear is on then it is generally understood no tire wear.

Also, to clarify the point about average lap times, test results will be based on single lap times from each tester for each car. I will average fast lap times from different testers to calculate the results.

EDIT: After some consideration I'm specifying a rule of no tire wear. Since the tuners weren't told to use tire wear it would be unfair for testers to use it.

I think most of the regular tuners and testers or those who have followed FITT comps in the past will have this already in mind. Tire wear is OK for racing but in a hotlap testing situation the consistency needs to be there. Should be no problem to set this as a rule. 👍

All right I will retest some time today.
Still find it to be more drift-oriented.

Testers are only required to give each tune a fair test.

This particular challenge is being graded on lap times only but all feedback about the cars and tunes is welcome.

This particular tune rewards smooth control inputs. Smooth transitions from brake to turn to throttle and needed. And an occasional countersteer helps. I enjoy the heck out of it but I understand that some will not like it.

I think I only have a couple more left to test and then I can go back and do a second round. Got nothing done the past few days and had too much fun messing with an Autozam at 1am to get a third Scion broken in for round two.

The Autozam is great fun but I can't get used to shifting at 4000 rpm...

Managed to get rid of most of the power oversteer on corner exit with my classic 86. Still getting a bit of push on corner entry and overall the car requires a very light touch with the controls. Still Ol'Harvey Wallbanger here is running high 1:47s with an easy half second to full second improvement in lap times very likely. Will continue tweaking for another day or so then post the tune.

HaylRazor's FT-86
best lap:1:46.567

What I thought: I rather liked this tune it suited my driving style very well. The car was a a little touchy in the high-speed corners, but was almost perfect in the low to mid speed corners. The car felt very stable on entry, a tad-bit understeery through mid, and a tiny bit of oversteer on exit. Once you get used to the understeer through mid corner it is a very fun car to drive, it was very quick and I had little trouble controlling the car.

Edit: DigitalBaka who's 86 do you have on share??

I have Praiano's on share.

Gonna run to check for FRs in about 20 mins if anyone still needs to send one to DigitalBaka.

Are you still accepting testers for this challenge? I am a newbie to testing various tunes (except all the tunes I've tried and tweaked on my own sans publishing) but imagine I could give a decent review of what different folks have done to the eight six.

Should get my classic 86 posted in the next 2-3 hours.👍👍
Just a word of warning to the testers, you'll need to be very gentle with all the inputs or the car will end up trying to drift the entire course. Lots of fun but not the fastest way to get around the track.:D Keeping the wheelspin to a minimum and not overcooking the corners, which is easy to do, should give some nice lap times. If the car wasn't stuck with 30 year old skinny tires in the game it would easily outperform the newer cars.:cheers:

That sounds like someone's suspension is too stiff and the LSD is too high

Trust me the LSD is not set high at all and the suspension isn't super stiff. With these skinny old tires some finesse in your steering, throttle and braking are required.
266hp and 194ft-lb of torque are more than enough to easily overwhelm the rear end regardless of LSD and suspension settings. I've brought it a long way from where it started but there is only so much you can do to compensate for the bad tires.

You're in. Tuners PM psid Tree4kid.

Take care with my tune. From what other testers are saying it will try to kill you. Personally I find it "lively". :D

Okay my classic Toyota Sprinter Trueno GT-APEX '83, "Sunshine Express" is ready.👍👍

Hope you all have as much fun driving this car as I've had tuning it.

Just remember as I've stated in my notes for the tune...A smooth gentle touch on the controls is called for when hot lapping. More abrupt and aggressive inputs will likely result in the car going into drift mode which while fun and easy to control will kill the lap times.:D

Car is on share and I've sent FRs to all testers.👍👍
However MSTER232 seems to already have a full list so he'll need to clear space and either FR me or let me know when the space is available.:odd:

XDesperado67,

I'm excited to try out this tune for the classic 86 regardless of its bearing on the official results. I started playing Gran Turismo beginning with GT3 and took someone's advice to start my GT mode career with a stock 86. It is the epitome of the car I had to fall in love with, because I beat the thing to death learning how to get the most out of every bit of performance. My plan is to try your tune out with an open mind, but I'm aware my associations with it are already nostalgic. Thanks for tuning this car!
