It's an expensive time to be trying to buy that car. Give it 10 years or so and it will be much more affordable. Possibly with a stick shift, with an upgrade package.
That’s in Australia though where they get the short end of the stick when buying new cars, I believe due to the taxes(?).

At the local fair, a local Toyota dealer has the new Supra. I was surprised that this car looks much better IRL than on internet photos. I'm going back this afternoon and hope that it is still there so I can take a photo.

I touched the Supra.
It is a limited edition.

The way it's so tailhappy under braking, you'd nearly think it was a mid-engined car...

Love how he makes it seem so easy, though I don't think it's such a great sounding car from the cabin.

I went to have a look at one that arrived Wednesday. They've already sold 4!

Looks is subjective, I already saw one in person back in February and I didn't like it one bit.

What is this feeling? Is it, that this car is finally starting to grow on me? I'm, kinda starting to like it now after all the hateful things I said about it. :ill:

I think maybe Toyota played their hand just about perfectly here. This is how you bring a beloved brand back from the dead. You destroy expectations and draw fire early, and then over deliver.

I'm jealous. :D I have to drive only 1h30 to get to this track, yet I've never been there. :irked:

Check it out if you get the chance: it's a proper old-school track that flows with the surroundings. Very pretty!

I'll leave most of my thoughts for the review, but what I will say is that it's very much a car you need to see in person. It's a bit like the Bangle era at BMW in that way, really — what a coincidence!

The problem with the looks is that they tried to fit the beautiful lines of the FT-1 into the hard points set by the BMW Z4. The rear still looks stunning because the proportions weren't changed that much, but the nose looks awful because of how stubby the Z4 is compared to the long FT-1. They had to fit that round nose in a much smaller area making it look off. I remember reading an article about Volvo design and how an important proportion that makes a car good looking is the distance from the A-pillar to the front wheel. Comparing the FT-1 and Supra you can clearly see how much they differ. Also note the size of the overhang on FT-1 that allows the front to taper off whereas the Supra needs it to end quite abruptly in comparison.

I couldn't say it any better!

But what I would like to add is that the proportions of the width and length are also off. The car looks too narrow and too high if that makes any sense.

Maybe the FT-1 front is too low for pedestrian safety.

The clamshell bonnet could also throw some off its front end looks. Without it being a conventional bonnet lid, that may have also contributed to its final design.

I wonder What Toyota did to the engine, because that is a big difference when the Z4 should have more power.

As CarThrottle have discovered, the UK-Spec cars are showing figures as high as 376hp:

Hopefully this benefit is not exclusive to press cars.
