Toyota Supra (A90)

The problem with the looks is that they tried to fit the beautiful lines of the FT-1 into the hard points set by the BMW Z4. The rear still looks stunning because the proportions weren't changed that much, but the nose looks awful because of how stubby the Z4 is compared to the long FT-1. They had to fit that round nose in a much smaller area making it look off. I remember reading an article about Volvo design and how an important proportion that makes a car good looking is the distance from the A-pillar to the front wheel. Comparing the FT-1 and Supra you can clearly see how much they differ. Also note the size of the overhang on FT-1 that allows the front to taper off whereas the Supra needs it to end quite abruptly in comparison.

The FT-1 is a concept. An impractical supercar that is too wide and too long. The Supra is a car that you can drive in a city with no problems.

I'll leave most of my thoughts for the review, but what I will say is that it's very much a car you need to see in person. It's a bit like the Bangle era at BMW in that way, really — what a coincidence!
Pretty much this. I started to slowly like the styling of this car, but seeing it in real life will be a lot better. What I want to see most is its size. Did you see it in real life? If so, is it bigger than the GT86 or is it similar in size?

:odd:

Would've been pretty hard to avoid seeing it when I took it on track... ;)

I'll join in too:

Tremblant is epic. Full story next week!

It's about the same size if not smaller

On "MotorWeek" recently, a segment was done on the latest Toyota Supra. I am not as hateful of the Supra or downplaying it a lot. Its looks kind of drive me away from liking it too much. Weirdly enough, though, the Supra looks good as a NASCAR stock car. I just think the latest Supra is styled TOO aggressively to be attractive. So looks-wise, I'll take the MKIV Supra over this new one.

I would like to see the new Supra in the wild regardless.

I saw this picture on Instagram and it got me thinking... would the Supra have looked better if it ditched the FT1’s nose for the current company face?

I understand it’s meant to nod at the A90, but seeing it next to the Corolla makes the Supra look very dated imo.

I don't think it would. Toyota's large grille is already hit or miss depending on who you ask, and it seems to work better on some models than others. The Corolla hatch there is probably the best example of their new grille working. The sedan however, is kind of quirky.

Think he'll do a Ridox 2?

HKS Vehicle height adjustable down spring Test The feeling and stability are up. The brake pads have a much better brake touch than Project Miu.

The more I see the Supra the more I dislike it especially compared to the Z4. If BMW should make a z4 coupe, I'd probably choose that one over the A90.

AMS Performance, the people who made the crazy Alpha performance upgrades to the GTR, has gotten the Supra to 450ish horsepower and did a 11.6 sec @ 121 mph quarter mile
